This. Not happening here, so it's not a forum thing, it's on your machine.
Antivirus FTW!

Yep. Spyware/adware, more than "antivirus," really. Malwarebytes, Superantispyware, etc.

And don't let anything add toolbars - don't just click "next" when something wants to install. See what it's actually asking to install.

Yeah, it sounds like you're infected with something.

Assuming you are running Windows of some flavour go and get a decent anti-virus/anti-malware product. I suggest Microsoft Security Essentials (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/w...ity-essentials) or perhaps Adaware Free (http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php)

Also, please make sure you are regularly patching your machine, just set Windows Update to automatic and make sure all the urgent updates are installed.

Check out Secunia Personal Software Inspector (http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal/) to help ensure all the software on your machine is patched and up to date.

Lastly, make sure you are running a decent up to date browser. If you are using IE make sure it's up to date through Windows Update. Alternatively use something like Chrome that keeps itself patched.

Adaware is rumored to contain adware/spyware of its own, which is why I switched to Spybot S&D. Then someone recommended SUPERAntiSpyware and after switching to that I quickly noticed that it found crap that had gone completely unnoticed by Spybot

It's generally best to run more than one spyware kit. I run Malwarebytes and Spybot S&D. alos run Firefox with No Script, Adblock, and several other security add-ons. It's nice to not see adds everywhere on websites and No Script is an absolute necessity in this day and age.

i run avast for antivirus, and have spybot and malwarebytes to clean the malware/adware out, and i run adblock on both firefox and google chrome

Ah, it's been a long time since I used Ad-Aware, it was the go-to product back in the day

It's been a long time since I needed to clean anything off my machines. Adblock and NoScript = Win! (and never install a browser toolbar )

Spybot Search & Destory hasn't been any good for years. It used to be cream of the crop, now it has just sunken far below that...

Because you didn't get that problem from here.

I'll second that caution against Ad-Aware. After reading the link, I decided to uninstall the program entirely for my own piece of mind and found something installed on my computer that I did -not- authorize being there. A program called Conduit Engine, which appears to be some sort of Rogue-ware toolbar that installs browser addons without permission.

It just happened to be installed on the exact same day that I updated to the latest version of Ad-aware. Coincidence? Could be, but I'm not taking any further chances. >_>

I actually know of one that also posts collections to links in a topic (and the topics vary but OWS has been prominent lately) as well as "content"

More like one goes to those sites to see the articles removed.
