Null the Gull: No FX for Hasten
I would go further and I would say:
No VFX for any power pool (Leadership, speed, etc...)
I'd like origin-specific VFX.
If they could do it with Null the Gull, they could most likely do it within the costume creator. The only reason we HAVE null is because someone was able to CODE the speed buff-negator, but there was no one to IMPLEMENT it into the MENU. So we were given an NPC to talk to.
Standard Code Rant applies, but as far as I've been able to piece together, causing a character to be immune to speed buffs, and taking away VFX that are hard-coded onto a character who uses an optional power are two completely separate things. Our Primary, Secondary and Incarnate powers are a part of the character. You already have every single power, there's just some you cannot access (either by choice or because you're not the appropriate level). The Pool powers are NOT. What they'd have to do is make every pool power automatically assigned to the character before the character would be able to be flagged for fx: on/off. So at THAT point, they might as well wait until everything is color tint-able, too.

Allied to all sides so that no matter what, I'll come out on top!
Oh, and Crimson demands you play this arc-> Twisted Knives (MA Arc #397769)
I'd love to see an option to totally negate all effects so that when you do itrials you (and ~20 others) aren't lit up like christmas trees to the point where everyone is just a sparkly mess.
I was under the understanding that part of the reason it hasn't been implemented yet is that it required UI work (adding menus to the power customization screen), which required the coders (who are very busy).
At least, that is what my memory says was the latest stated hurdle to power pool customization.

The other option is to allow everyone to choose to customize any and all power pools during character creation. Now think about how that would look if it were simply tacked on to the existing UI. Right now, that screen is fairly uncluttered, but doing this would certainly set that back more than just a few paces. Given the current discussions over the UI becoming outdated and cluttered, do we really want the devs to clutter up the one part of the UI that is still, relatively, clean?

A jumbled mess.

No FX hasten is so commonly asked for, they really should find a way to make it available.
I gotta make pain. I gotta make things right. I gotta stop what's comin'. 'Least I gotta try.
The colour customisation for Judgement Slots shows what pool customisation would need to look like if we picked it all from character creation.
A jumbled mess. |
Edit: I for one think hasten FX looks cool with the right type of character.

I want Hasten to use the self-injection-with-a-syringe animation.
Thank you.

I would love to see the ability to suppress all effects, like how WP and Invuln have the option to suppress except in PvP.
/suppressCloseFxDist <feet> can be used for I-trials and such. This will suppress all effects like auras, glowie head things and other sparkly effects. Set the distance to something you feel appropriate.
Your character does not have capped defense. Depending on your AT the cap is between 175% - 225%. Your defense is not teal in the combat window, it can go higher. STOP SAYING IT IS CAPPED! The correct term is Soft Cap.
I enjoy playing in Mids. I specialize in Melee Characters, other AT's usually bore me.
Posi seems to think we want it for PVP reasons - I turned my particle count down to 100 back in i20 because multiple Super Speed auras at once gave me migraines. It's only a slight discoloration at that setting - and when I tried turning it up yesterday, I suddenly realised why everyone wants the change.

I think the five people that can be bothered to suffer through lolpvp on this game would rejoice for entirely different reasons than the rest of us. Holy crap, Posi, PvP really has nothing to do with it.
Stand UP.
FIGHT BACK!
Apologies if this is classed as resurrecting an old post but it was the most recent I could find using the search options.
The visual effect from the hasten power is not something I have ever really thought about before, however having just invested in the Ascension Radiance Armour set, rushed to the tailor and got all gussied up in my new outfit I could have saved 6 merits and not bothered with the gloves!!
It's horrible, I have two glowing balls of fire instead of hands which makes the effect of the radiance gloves completely lost.
Please can we have the option of no effect for hasten power, please.
I never take Hasten because of the awful VFX.
Hope we got an update in the works...
Also, this threat will get a visit of a moderator due to necro-post (which Im helping with myself now lol)
I always use :
/macro FXoff "SuppressCloseFx 1$$SuppressCloseFxDist 255"
This suppresses the majority of animations.
No more hasten hands shining superspeed feet or leadership buffs. Even hides the majority of armor effects. Makes my Speedster much more fun to play IMO.
/macro FXon "SuppressCloseFx 0"
Makes everything shiny again

Provided there is a hurdle to providing power pool customization, how about putting a 'quick fix' option in Null the Gull.
*I would like Hasten with standard effects
*I would like Hasten with no FX
Provided this is one of the 'big' options people seem to want for power pools, could we maybe sneak this change in prior to doing all of the other powers?
