Connection Issues from Time Warner?
Time Warner, Kansas City. Having same problems.

If the problem is somewhere in Chicago, why haven't they rerouted us. Isn't that the nature of the WWW? There are alternate routes to a server in Texas, isn't there?

Time Warner, Indiana, having the same problems. I was able to play the game some earlier today... Thought it was a game bug located to one specific character I had (because the game only hung while on the character or at the login screen).... but.... I recently tried to get on a different character and it made the game hang as well... and I haven't been able to get passed the server list since.
This isn't the first time I've had trouble with Time Warner. For the last 4 to 5 months my internet has been flat-out dropping in the middle of game sessions... multiple times... and I've noticed it outside of the game as well. At least that seems to have gone away (for the most part).
I have to agree with Rock_Crag, last few months my internet has been 'slow' (ie fine on web pages, but streaming media tends to queue a lot more lately). Luckily, I live in the city where Google is dropping Fiber Optics..so I'm hoping to have a real choice soon. (tm)

This just in! I got off the line yet again with Time Warner support for the third time (I am pretty sure by now they know me. heh)
Now according to this rep, ALL of the regions that have time warner support are indeed experiencing the same slowdown and connectivity issue. Like we couldn't tell that from all the reports here on the forums alone? However, once again they stated that their engineers are working on the problem and will get it fixed as soon as they can.
(that sounds alot like a Soon(tm) in disguise.. )
So. Cards anyone? Well. not online cards. The server would hang..

SW Ohio here with the same problems. At least it isn't just me. Looks like a good day for Skyrim!
Same issue here with TW and the game, as well as one or two other websites. I'm in SW Ohio.
as of 4:07 pm still have the same issue. it would be nice for a red name to at least comment on this like saying , we have spoken to TW. after all this is not coh fault

Devs don't work on the weekend. I don't think they even look at the forums on the weekend. If it's a CoH problem, we won't hear about it until Monday or Tuesday. Maybe even Wednesday because I think there's a Tuesday publish/hotfix scheduled (for issues that aren't related the subject of this thread).
but several devs monitor the forums on weekend(they have told me) ,but I think i have figured it out,the new elder scrolls just came out everyone is steaming it to their systems and of course the COD3 and BF3, the backbone is being filled.
well i got dinner plans so i am good for a few hours.

Issue appears to be resolved, happy gaming Time Warnerites!
Why players think that NCSoft or Paragon Studios have the ability to fix a flaky router owned by somebody else never ceases to amaze me.

*edit for clarity* I mean, for me... I immediately thought it was a CoH server problem when I wasn't able to connect to the game... but was able to get onto the forums and other internet sites. You'd think if it were Time Warner that it would be down for... well... everything. Clearly I still have much to learn.
Well the emergency publish/fix hasn't happen yet, it's Tuesday but they did consider one for Friday and smartly delayed it.
Yes, I understand that the first instinct is to blame the servers but since this thread is entitled "Connection Issues from Time Warner", it seems that someone realized it was likely a regional ISP problem and not a general CoH outage yet some still lay the blame on NCSoft's doorstep.
Same is true with AMD graphics drivers. It's not Paragon Studios fault if AMD keeps breaking the driver for this game, yet players blame them anyways.

Anyone else having connection issues again? I was booted from the game, had a few log in attempts time out on me, and the forums are acting pretty sluggish.
The best way to tell if the problem is the game servers is if anyone that is NOT using Time Warner has a problem connecting. Unless there is some bad blood between NCSoft/Paragon Studios and TW causing one to block the other, my guess is TW has an issue they need to fix internally.
Slightly off-topic... it's nice to see so many fellow Ohioans playing this game.
Yes. Having issues as well. On Time Warner and am experiencing pretty much what you have described. Game starts up, I log in but the game freezes once I pick Victory. It eventually times out and I get "unable to connect to dbserver" as an error message.
Tried multiple servers and a couple of times was able to get to the character screen before the client froze. Got a "mapserver unavailable" error message on those ones.

I have Time-Warner myself, and I had a major connectivity problem yesterday evening. Mapservered mid-session, then couldn't reconnect anymore after that.
Firing up a web browser to check the server status, I found I couldn't contact cityofheroes.com at all. Checking out some other sites, I found my connections to be very hit-or-miss. Some sites would load, others wouldn't... and even the ones that did load, would sometimes time out if I tried refreshing.
So I checked out a couple of "internet traffic report" sites. http://www.internettrafficreport.com/ reported that North America was experiencing some connectivity problems (the traffic index was at 75%) with an average packet loss of 20%. And http://www.internetpulse.net/Main.aspx?Metric=PL was also showing some packet loss between a few of the major peers.
Mind you, these two sites are still showing similar readings tonight, yet my Internet connectivity is MUCH better than it was last night. So I'm leaning towards Time-Warner itself having been at fault yesterday.
Going to log into the game now, hopefully I won't get a repeat of last night.

Same here. Mapserved during a Keyes badge run (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), although thankfully I got back on before it finished. (Unfortunately, we must have screwed something up, since nobody got either of the badges we were trying for.)
I did a little research and apparently the issues are related to a bad firmware update on the 7th combined with a response to the original problem which only made things worse. I've never been enthused about Time Warner but I'm especially not happy now, I went looking to see if I could get Verizon internet in my area, but their availability page wasn't finding my address and I'm pretty sure when I first moved in I found that it wasn't available anyway. Aren't monopolies great?
