Ok let's try & get some of these things nailed down!

Friday Dinner
My suggestion: Vive Sol. However, according to their website, due to the size of their restaurant,they'd like to keep groups down to 8-10 on the weekends. So... who wants in on a Friday dinner? If there are more than 10 interested, I'll need to figure out another venue, so suggest a cuisine for the alternate. Also, your preferred dining time!

For discussion purposes I'm going to suggest a 5:30-6:00pm start time, with the assumption that the Community team will be hosting some sort of event which kicks off at ~7:30pm (I think that's what they've done in the past.) Folks desiring a different start time, speak up!

Just tried to make reservations & found they don't take reservations, it's first-come-first-serve.

Saturday Breakfast
Do we want to bother what with the 8:30am registration & 10:30 start? If so, anyone want to try The Original Pancake House & their bacon waffles? (or maybe their OPH specialties?) To get back by 8:30am, I'd suggest a 7:00am meet for a "relaxing" breakfast, but ugh...do we REALLY want to get up that early? (+2)

Mob rule, show up if interested, occupy OPH?

Saturday Lunch
In-N-Out w drive-by lookie-lou'ing @ Paragon Studios? Or whatever. (+2)

Holder's Country Inn - I'm going to recommend the Saratoga location even though the Cupertino location is closer. This mostly because I've had better experiences at the Saratoga location. That said, the Cupertino location does put you close to Apple's HQ for those that are interested. I'm told the HQ has a store with exclusive items, but don't expect they'd be open on a Sunday. (+2)

Anywho... Holder's opens @ 6:30am & tends to get busy. I can see if they'll take reservations, but to do so I'll need to know for how many & at what time so pipe in!

Much as I'd like to accomodate Turg, I also think 6:30am is too durn early post-FPS. I think meeting up at the Holder's in Saratoga around 8am might be more reasonable. I've still not made an effort to see if reservations can be made, so I'll check & if they do, will look at setting it up for around 8am unless I hear clamoring for later.

Oh yeah... the list below is to help me keep track of people's preferences. I went through the various FPS threads & glommed onto whoever said they were coming to the FPS.

Friday Dinner: Viva Sol is very tasty, I'd love to go there again.
Saturday breakfast: I've yet to avail myself of the Bacon Waffles.
Saturday Lunch: I can give or take In 'n Out, never found it to be worth the reputation it's earned.
Sunday Breakfast: 6:30am? <.< After possible late night shenanigans Saturday? Is that even possible? ^.^ Put me down for a maybe. Yes, if they do reservations and we can get in at a slightly more reasonable hour.

If it were summertime, I'd suggest going to Palo Alto Sol instead, for TJ's benefit. I think he'd appreciate the foot-traffic outside the window.

OPH isn't where we usually get the bacon waffley goodness. The usual place is Holder's. But due to the 8:30am registration start, I'm suggesting OPH because it's close AND because we MIGHT be able to get bacon waffles. (For comparison to the known good Holder's waffles)

To be honest, I'm not especially fond of them either, but many seem to love it, it's fairly close, & we can get there via a route which takes us past Paragon Studios for anyone who's interested in seeing the outside of the building where the diabolic machin... erm... creative process of our favorite development team takes place. That's why I also said, "Or whatever." IIRC you suggested The Creamery? Not sure how far that is from the FPS.

Red_Gren: Thanks for consolidating plans in this thread! Comments per-day are below:

Friday Night: As previously stated, I think I have my evening spoken for already.

Saturday morning: BACON WAFFLES?! I'm in like Flynn! Pick the time!

Saturday lunch: I'm down for In-n-Out + Paragon Drive-By Fanboy episode. I understand they frown upon internal visits, but I don't think anything's stopping us from taking pictures in front of their shop.

Sunday morning: I have to be on a plane at 10am at SJC, so unless we gather at the crack of dawn, I'm probably going to focus on just getting back home!

As you've noted, I'll have a car. I've rented a full-size car (sorry, no H3 or minivan this year) and should have room for a few people.

Friday Night: Sure, I can do Viva Sol. I'm sure I can find something to eat. I think the Palo Alto location may be one of the places my uncle took me to for a Sunday brunch. I wasn't all that impressed but I'm used to Tex-Mex cooking. I'm not that used to Poblana. The foot traffic was lousy likely due to being early Sunday and in late October/early November. Since he was driving I have no idea where he actually took me. We took a severely twisty route to get there since he was also showing me sites he thought I might be interested in.

Saturday breakfast: I'm in for OPH. If for no other reason than to let Zwenkendoogiehouser know that the Bacon Waffles there are inferior to those of Holder's.

Saturday lunch: I can do In-n-Out. Or something else if people would prefer. I think there is a Chipotle close to the Paragon Studios office and I haven't had Chipotle since I was in Colorado. I was going to head there last year before Red called me and had me meet him at Schaub's for the Fred's Steak sandwich. Or if someone comes up with a better idea for something quick to get to.

Sunday morning: Crack of dawn won't bother me. Since my plane is leaving later I can do a later breakfast, but I'd rather that Turgenev is able to join us. If needed, I can head over early with those that need an early breakfast and then hang out and wait to visit with those that come later.

As you mentioned, I'm doing Schaub's for lunch on Friday. I'm getting into SJC at around 11:30 and was planning on trying to be at Schaub's around 12:15 to 12:30. I haven't heard from Turgenev as to whether he was still going to need a pickup from the airport, but since he's getting in a little after 1:00 perhaps we can hold off until 1:30 if he wants to join us. My original plan was to eat before his flight arrived and then pick him up after lunch, but I'm flexible with that plan, I just need to hear from him about it.

Heya TJ: Been talking with Crayhal, and signs point to yes to a possible pickup there. I'll confirm with him this week, but if he or you can pick me up, or if I have to take a taxi from the airport, my flight gets in around 1:05pm local time. I plan on one carry-on to keep my exit time to a minimum, so figure ETA at the hotel (no matter how I get there) will be at 2pm-ish.

I'll PM the both of you later today to see what would work out better for orchestration. I'd say for either of you to come hungry/thirsty so I can repay the pickup with some chow, but if you wanna do that beforehand, we can figure something out.

Current tentative plans for Friday are Schaub's at 12:30 (if that time is ok with Red Gren) as long as crayhal can pick up Turg.

I'm waiting to hear from crayhal to make certain of who's picking up Turg at the airport, and then I'll get with Red Gren to finalize the times and post it here.

EDIT: Okay, crayhal is picking up Turg on Friday so how does 12:30 or 125:45 sound to those going to Schaub's for Fred's Steak sandwiches?

I'm personally fine with wherever we go, and I believe I should be able to make it to all of these. I'll be driving myself from my workplace in Hayward straight to wherever we're having dinner on Friday, so if anyone in between Hayward and where we're eating needs a ride, I'd be glad to provide. I can fit four people, not counting myself in my car.

Short version...

Flying in SanJose: 4:08pm Fri 18th. If anyone else is coming in same time I'm most likely taking a taxi to the hotel, but wouldn't mind a ride instead or fare split.

Anything(foods,etc) inbetween I'd need a ride. Totally down for most anything.

Flying out SanJose: 4:33pm Sun 20th. TexasJustice if you're still able to give me a ride to the airport that would be awesome. I know you're flying out earlier than I, but that's cool.

Want to make sure I'm understanding so we can get the logistics right. You'll be going to the dinner & so can offer rides, not planning on either of the breakfasts or lunch so your car won't be available. Do I have that right?

I'm sure we'll need to figure this stuff out on the fly as the situation will have changed, but I'm hopeful that working this out ahead of time will reduce the chance that someone who wants to attend will get left out.

I should be arriving by car around 7-8am on Saturday

I am certainly game for Saturday breakfast and lunch. Sunday breakfast I could probably go for too. I could take a couple of people to a location but my car's backseat isn't good for tall people.

Edit: All this talk about Fred's makes me want to make sure to get one before I leave the area though. I might go there on Saturday for lunch instead. I live a mile from one of the old school In n Outs where its drive thru only so seems odd for me to drive 360+ miles to eat there.

I'm off Friday so will be available till 11 pm or until I turn into an ebil pumpkin.
On Sat morning, I have to pick up Tatterdamalion, so I prolly won't be able to make breakfast. I can be around for lunch. I was thinking of bringing my own food so I can hang out at FPS or do other stuff instead of food hunting. Sunday breakfast is too early for me.

Hey everyone!

I just found this thread so my apologies for being late to it (thank you, Turgenev, for that link from the other thread). From the 10th until last night (the 15th) I was taking a tour of the Mid West and loving it.

Friday, I'm getting in late at 7:40 PM, so most likely will be taking a taxi to the hotel and just relaxing until bedtime.

Saturday, if still possible, I would enjoy accompanying anyone that has room for lunch/dinner/whatever during the day. Of course, I will repay your kindness with cold hard cash for your gas & time or we can work out other forms of payment, too.

Sunday, I leave early afternoon, 1:20 PM to be precise. So I'll have some time to lounge around before heading out.

Looking forward to meeting all of you and attending the Pummit!
