Vampire Movies
If we're going into TV shows too:
Blood Ties: SHE'S an embittered ex-cop turned oddball PI. HE'S the vampiric, wisecracking illegitimate son of Henry VIII. THEY FIGHT CRIME...
...and it's a lot better than that sounds. Based on Tanya Huff's Blood books,it's got decent performances, a tight, knowing and frequently laugh-out-loud script in the manner of Castle, some nice spins on standard mythology and some rather excellent critters-of-the-week: including Danny "Machete" Trejo as a vengeful mummy with a penchant for bad TV and snack foods.
Moonlight: HE'S a hunky vampiric PI. SHE'S a TMZ... sorry, BuzzWire reporter with a nose for trouble. THEY FIGHT CRIME...
...and it does get better than that, despite a very shaky start indeed. Stars Alex O'Loughlin (currently treading water as McGarrett in Hawaii 5-O remake) and Sophia Myles (Thunderbirds, Spooks, Underworld) and takes a while to get sparking, but there's again some quite nice ideas and one-liners.
Is it time for the dance of joy yet?
From Dusk Til Dawn
It's a narrow view that it's not a vampire movie? It isn't, and it can't really compare to one. If anything Prince of Darkness incorporates more of the zombie mythos (the demonic possession of the "weak of mind") that occurs throughout the film.
From the trailer to "Demon Under Glass" and the book description of the same, they don't seem to be even remotely similar.
Arc# 92382 -- "The S.P.I.D.E.R. and the Tyrant" -- Ninjas! Robots! Praetorians! It's totally epic! Play it now!
Arc # 316340 -- "Husk" -- Azuria loses something, a young woman harbors a dark secret, and the fate of the world is in your hands.
'I don't like the look of it at all,' said the King: 'however, it may kiss my hand if it likes.'
'I'd rather not,' the Cat remarked.
'Don't be impertinent,' said the King, 'and don't look at me like that!' He got behind Alice as he spoke.
'A cat may look at a king,' said Alice.
While almost all the Howling sequels were crap, Howling 5 is actually VERY well done and still holds up. It is more of a murder mystery with a Werewolf but it's production values are very high for a direct to video film.
Also, does anyone remember the old TV show "Werewolf" that aired the 1st Year Fox was a network?
"Well, there's going to be some light music and a short note of apology saying, 'The universe ended last week, we're really sorry, we don't know what you're doing here, didn't you get the message?'"- Steve Moffat

I wonder if I can find the other trailer for DUG - it's a bit more explanatory.

I actually liked the Red Riding Hood movie that came out this year. The take on the werewolf and why it was doing what it was doing was interesting and tries pretty hard to keep you guessing who the werewolf is while trying to make you think you know who it is.

How about a vampire move so bad that I had blocked the fact that I had seen it some 20 odd years ago until I watched Oancitizen's review of it the other night?
Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you Andy Warhol's Dracula
Devs would post more if they could say "hi!" without people whining because they wanted them to say "hello".

From the era of black and white Italian Cinema I give you
Mask of Satan (dir Mario Bava)
Not quite sure if she really counts (ha ha ha) as a Vampire or not, but creepy as hell
And no one has mentioned Kindred... The Embraced yet! I remember avidly watching the 1st episode hoping it would do justice to the RPG. Well... I was very young...
But with regard to decent vampire stuff a lot has been mentioned in this thread. The original Fright Night, and Near Dark (I hate it when they 'aint been shaved...) are probably my all time favourites. Shadow of the Vampire was so well done as well.
Razorblade Smile... lol... Is that 2 of us in the world that have seen that film? Let me guess... Bought on the strength of the DVD/video cover?
Wolf movies have been better. Dog Soldiers and Ginger Snaps stand out for me. "There is no Spoon!" So many one liners.
Good stuff!

And no mention of...
Buffy the Vampire Slayer?

Everything fell through when (literally) a couple of the music tracks couldn't be settled on in terms of price and they had to scrap the whole project. Damn shame. It was a great story. One I wish they had finished eventually.
EDIT: I also have what few episodes of Wolf Lake they aired. Another good series they dropped without closure. There 'ought to be some sort of rule in TV to at least do a 2 hour finale to give closure for the viewers they have... but that's a rant that covers so many shows/topics it can't even encompass this topic readily
"I play characters. I have to have a very strong visual appearance, backstory, name, etc. to get involved with a character, otherwise I simply won't play it very long. I'm not an RPer by any stretch of the imagination, but character concept is very important for me."- Back Alley Brawler
I couldn't agree more.
