I am a big, black blob
Choose light colors and the "No Fade or Pulse" options, that's really all you can do to mitigate it, as far as I'm aware.

Virtue [Heroes, Roleplay], Freedom [Villains], Exalted [All Sides, Roleplay]
I24 Proc Chance = (Enhanced Recharge + Activation Time) * (Current PPM * 1.25) / 60*(1 + .75*(.15*Radius - 0.011*Radius*(360-Arc)/30)) Single Target Radius = 0. AoE Non-Cone Arc = 360.
Try coloring them all black with the no fade pulse.

For Dark Armor, I always go with the 'black blob' is my costume theme.

I know this won't effect other people's perception of me but just for me to be able to see my charactrer, this is excellent!
Thank you very much!

I don't know how much this will mitigate things for Dark Armor, but I know that on my firey aura characters, the bigger they are, the more "spread out" the flames are, and consequently, the more visible they are under all that fire.
You might try making your character inordinately huge, if at all applicable.
Mission Arc: Metatronic Mayhem (Id 1750): A tale of robots gone wrong, rogue robots gone right, and madmen gone every which way but loose.
IIRC, theres a setting in power customization to turn off the visual effects. You can choos to have them on, off, or off in PvE only.

I'm sure there are those who disagree. And this isn't to say I don't see a reason not to improve some of those graphics, especially Ice Armor.

All of the Dark powers in the game could probably stand for a FX update, too, considering how much better the Warshade/Nictus effects look, but that is both a larger job and one that I don't see happening any time soon.

I would kill for updates to Granite Armor and the entire Ice Armor set (with, hopefully, spillover for Cold Domination's shared FX shields and the EPP pools that use Frozen Armor).

If you use the less saturated colors available, the DA toggles become more transparent.
Somewhere I have a screen shot of my /DA scrapper where I used a bold color for the tenticly part of death shroud, and a very pale one for the other, resulting in a nice tenticle effect without so much of the cloud.
Works pretty well to thin out the rest of the effects as well. It's possible to render the CoF skulls translucent to the point of irrelevancy.
Just takes some playing around.
Is there a way to make it apply to just that character? If not, how do I set it back to normal? I think I'd rather see all my character effects and then just tweak Dark Armour until it plays ball.
Thanks for all your suggestions, I can see myself burning a lot of Tailor Tokens trying to get this one right.

I'd settle for the black blob theme if Street Justice wasn't so damn pretty to watch while killing people with it. I was actually asked by someone today what the SJ Assassin's Strike looks like because they couldn't see it past the clouds of FX.
Currently, I'm thinking that I might have to set up a pair of binds to the suppressclosefx command to use when I log onto that character and restore it when I log out as if affects all my other toons.
*Sigh* I can understand not having a 'Minimal FX' setting for elemental armour sets but a 'Less Dense' setting would be a godsend. If this hasn't been asked for in the All Things Art FX thread yet, I may have to go put a request in there.

The "Dark Armor is ugly" problem is a big personal gripe also, especially since I was lured into DA in the first place because I (logically?) assumed that it would at least attempt to be as cool-looking as Warshade graphics.
Yeah, no. not at all.
Instead of looking like I'm engulfed in negative energy, I just look like I've been rolling around in a pile of dirt, the color to my choosing of course-for the last two hours.
Bottom line: Dark Armor is ugly as hell. If you're willing to work with that, or turn all of your effects to minimal, you'll notice that it's a really awesome and solid set. If, however, you want to play a very powerful negative energy creature that looks as impressive as its' performance, make a Warshade.
What else do folks think improved Dark Armor graphics should look like? I have to say I'm not a fan of purple bubbles and purple fuzz, which is what I think Warshade powers look like.
I wouldn't mind having an option to look like Negative Man from the Doom Patrol. I realize this blocks even more costume options, but for me as long as it's not fuzzy I don't mind too much.
I think I managed to pull it off fairly well with my Claws/DA brute; Lord Kron. Then again he's supposed to be nothingness incarnate, a vessel which the void constantly leaks out of.
So... with the dawn of Street Justice, I did two things I never thought I would do again:
1) Roll another Stalker and
2) Choose Dark Armour
Now I have a love/hate relationship with DA. I want to love it but I can never seem to get it to work right. However, this time, I'm willing to give it a bash. But boy had I forgotten how it ruins costumes.
No matter what colour scheme I attempt in the costume creator, by the time I toggle on the four main armours, I am just a big, blurry, black blob. All of the Street Justices' awesome moves are lost in a haze of grim blackness.
So fellows of the forums, your guidance please. Have any of you managed to find a combination of colours that preserves the look of your costume while using this powerset? I know I'm doing myself no favours by having a mostly black costume but any suggestions for making myself a little bit more visible under the steaming black cloud would be very much appreciated.
Thanks!
