Last night I watched 3 Musketeers
dug the story (the Musketeers were more a secret service-esque style group instead of just really elite soldiers (they were that too but slicker)

Simply call it something different. There's a fun sub plot in Easy A where the teacher complains that most of the students didn't bother to read The Scarlet Letter but instead chose to watch the movie version staring Demi Moore, which of course strayed from the original novel. Emma Stone's character mentions that at least the 1934 version was better to crib from.
What's next, turning The Scarlett Pimpernel into a 18th century James Bond with loads of "high tech" gimmicks, a one man army fighting the injustice of the French Revolution?
Sorry for me the only Three Musketeers movie that mattered was the 1973 version with Raquel Welsh and Michael York.

I'm only interested in seeing this because of Milla Jovovich.. Then again I'd watch a movie with her reading the paper for two hours.
There is so much wrong with that I don't know where to start.

Just want to clarify it wasn't the whole Musketeer corps that were the secret service stile guys, just the 3 and D'artanion were the best of the best of the best. There wasn't even much along the lines of gagdests except for the traps in two of the castle scenes, the airship, the gear used in one of the castle operations, and well thats it.
oh bolded and corrected for clarity as many have a particular favorite of this story / mythos.
Side note.. has there been any stories done of the Three Musketeers outside of D'artangion joining the corps? would be kind of cool to see a movie of before.. or better yet AFTER (because mother of all that is holy I would love to see the story move forward)
Goodbye, I guess.

They seem to have messed with the story far too much, even getting the most basic things completely wrong.
I mean, not even one the main characters seem to be dogs!
Always remember, we were Heroes.

I don't know about the movies, but wasn't there two books? The "Three Musketeers" and "The Four Musketeers'?
No, that was the 70s movies.
As for d'Artagnan, depends how you count them, 3 to 7 novels.

Oliver Reed was the most kick butt Athos. But, I must confess Oliver Platt did a pretty cool Porthos. My favorite D'Artagnan was Gene Kelly from the 1948 Three Musketeers film (Angela Lansbury as Queen Anne? Vincent Price as Richelieu? How cool is THAT?!?) And, my top Aramis has to be Jeremy Irons.
There was a musketeer comic book too

I haven't seen the this film (although I likely will) but if they are portrayed as Secret-Service-Style fighters, then it's one of the few film adaptations to get it right, according to Dumas and history.
Never argue with stupid people. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
@vanda1 and @nakoa2
AND I LOVED THE HELL OUT OF IT!!
Fun
dug the story (the Musketeers were more a secret service-esque style group instead of just really elite soldiers (they were that too but slicker)
Decent action (sword fights were slick)
Great dialogue
Mila in a corset!!
yeah it was all around win!!
note - they had a homage to the 3 Musketeers version that Charlie Sheen and Keifer Sutherland starred in.
