I've only found two threads regarding the summit: This one, and one that was the initial posting, with a last update around 10/15 (where this one seemingly takes over). Is there a consolidated thread or website where players are coordinating room shares and/or shuttle rides from the airport?

My stats, for the record:
  • Arrive in SJC from DC at 1:05pm local time Friday afternoon
  • Check in at Dinah Hotel at 3pm
  • Dinner arrangements are already set, but I'm happy to hang with anyone for a lunch, beer, etc. before that time
  • Leave SJC for DC at 10:10am local time Sunday morning

I can manage a cab, but the best prices I've found thus far is around $40, which IMO seems steep for a 15 mile trip. If anyone has any recommendations for local cab or shuttle services to/from SJC, I'm happy to investigate (or share a ride with anyone who'd be arriving that time). I'm also happy to

Turg as a local the cheapest way to go is this...

The number 10 shuttle bus from the airport to the Santa Clara Caltrain station. This shuttle is free.

The number 22 bus to Palo Alto. This will cost you less than five bucks but it will be a slow/boring/possibly smelly trip (middle of the day should be ok as the homeless generaly don't use it as a motel until late at night but you get some winners on there.) There is stop right in front of the hotel the M&G is at.

You might also be able to get the number 522 which takes the same route with fewer stops. I'm not sure what the closest stop to the hotel is.. check VTA.org

The whole trip may take an hour to 1.5 hours(less if you get the 522). Not fast but cheap and direct. After a 5hr flight from DC tho I'd be inclined to take the cab personaly.

Note you could also take Caltrain up to the San Antonio station(I think that was the closest stop) but I think you'd have a mile to a mile and a half walk to the hotel from there.

Last edited by Fasttrack; Today at 11:04 AM. Reason: Deleted a question on a possibility of a tour of Paragon Studios as I realize getting in late on Friday would nix this and they're definitely not going to be available Sat/Sun. Dumb question.

Fasttrack, in regards to your edit I'll just post what happened last year, and what I'm told is standard practice there.

A player arrived mid-morning on Friday. This was the weekend of the Bay Area Meet & Greet. He had asked one or two Devs via Twitter Thursday night if he'd be able to get a tour of the studio if he showed up, but got no response. Both said on Friday and Saturday that they hadn't received the tweets or they'd have let him know that it wasn't going to be possible.

The player was greeted in the lobby and not allowed past it. He sat on the couch under the sign next to the Justice conference room (the conferencer rooms are named for the servers apparently) but forgot to get someone to take a picture of him sitting there. It was the appropriate sign for him to be sitting under since he plays on Justice.

A few of the OCR team visited with him in the lobby for a bit, as did a couple of the Devs very briefly before they headed to a meeting. However, they said it was standard practice not to allow tours. He was told that much of the time there is quite a bit of information that is work in progress for future content ideas pasted all over the place.

Understandable, but still disappointing.

Luckily, after leaving the office and going to Best Buy he got a phone call from another player inviting him to lunch. The tasty goodness of a Fred's Steak sandwich helped make up for the disappointment of not being able to tour the Paragon Studios offices.

I don't arrive as early this year so I don't need to make that stop on my way to lunch. Although it would be nice to get my picture taken under the sign for the Justice conference room since I forgot to do that last year.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Thanks for your insight, Texas Justice.

I was thinking it wouldn't be possible, just for the very reasons you gave, with secrets being displayed everywhere. But it never hurts to ask, right? Except if the time frame you ask about it would preclude it from happening, of course. lol

Well, if I can get a picture of me in the Freedom conference room, that'd be alright by me!

Perhaps I'll have to give this Fred's Steak sandwich a try.

Thanks again.

I'm still trying to figure out a way to purchase some of the steaks and ship them to myself economically. I guess I need to locate a FedEx and someplace to purchase dry ice to ship with it.

In the meantime, the Fred's Steak sandwich from their Deli counter will suffice.

I dunno if it fits in with economically, but if you ask the guy who's helping you, chances are he'll be able to provide you with the business card for a local private mail outfit that's shipped Schaub's before (so they'll have the dry ice for perishible shipments.) Also, while they won't be directly involved with the shipping, they will sell insulated boxes for packing your purchase in. If I remember correctly, the boxes will hold about 4 Fred's. My vague recollection is that it cost somewhere near $3-400 to ship that much Fred's over & above the purchase cost of the meat & boxes.

Oh yeah... it's pretty darn expensive, but the Kobe Fred's was sooo very tasty. I figure if you're going to spend that much to ship it, you might consider purchasing one Kobe. Use the "regular" Fred's to figure out the cooking technique & time that works best for you & then grill up the Kobe Fred's!

Oh & I almost forgot, they have a nice little flyer that explains the history behind Fred's & which also provides their recommended cooking times for the usual tri-tip cooking techniques. Personally, I think Fred's is best when you can get the marinade to crisp up during the cooking process. YMMV.

Um. Yeah. $3-400 above the cost of the meat and boxes doesn't fit my idea of economical.

Still, I may ask them about it while I'm there just in case I ever win the Lottery.

Howdy folks! Anybody coming from or through Sacramento on Friday? I would far rather contribute ga$ and have like-minded traveling companions than take the $52 roundtrip ride on Amtrak + bus or cab or shuttle.

I'm also considering a trip to Cafe Gratitude on Friday night for dinner.

Howdy all!

Posting here for visibility. It's become something of a tradition for the folks of the Justice server to get together & go someplace for dinner & also to go to Holder's Country Inn for bacon waffles/breakfast. We're a pretty friendly & accepting lot, so even if you don't play on the Justice server, you're welcome to join us. We'll be happy to "adopt" you!

I've started a thread to try to get the details nailed down, so if you're interested in joining us, head on over, say hi, & let me know which gatherings you'd like to join & as I indicate in the thread what times would work best for you. Oh & if you'll have a car & be willing to cart people around, maybe we can even work out some car-pools!

I'm still waiting to hear from Turgenev as to whether he's going to need a pickup from the airport before finalizing my Fred's Steak lunch plans on Friday.

Turgenev, that's your cue to either answer me here, in the other thread, or by PM.

I actually responded in the other thread earlier this morning before I saw this one. Link:

Figure I'll consolidate further responses there, since that thread's a player-centric organizational conversation for things going on around the Summit.

Would anyone know if cosplay is allowed? Just wondering if I can get out my cape...

Should be OK. We've had people in costumes at the HeroCon's in the past. And that was even before the costume contests that were scheduled.

We certainly will not turn you away at the door if you're wearing a cape.

I guess this means that Positron will once again be wearing his cape.

Jay seems to always be in costume of some type at these events.

Getting ready to leave the house. Have to pick up my nephew's GPS and a few items where he lives then headed to Austin to catch my morning flight.

If you are one of the ones I'm giving a ride to, please send an email to CoHTexasJustice@gmail.com with your flight details and I'll get back to you about where we'll meet up at the airport.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

For those wondering who to look for at the airport, here's a decent photo from last years M&G.
