Quote:So, you are saying that you can't use enhancement converters to convert Overwhelming Force enhancements?no, overwhelming force cannot be converted and is intended to not be convertible
OH NO!
That means that I have to give back the KDproc that I got when I used 3 enhancement converters on an Overwhelming Force ADER enhancement.
Demmit. -
Quote:Heh, you didn't actually look at the image didja. He has way too dark of color under his eyes to be wearing bright white, especially all white. It just makes his eyes look even more shrunk in.
He's wearing blackout round shades. Can ya blame the guy for his baggage? Some of the costumes he's seen would put bags under ANYBODY's eyes.
Well, it doesn't look like this thread is getting enough attention for anything to really happen, I guess I'll just go back to picking off Founders Falls snipers.
Pew. Pew. Pew. -
I'm glad you like some of them! I am wondering if there is some sort of rule that the tailors may use only free costume items for their outfits.
The first design is almost exclusively purchased or unlocked parts.
The second one has many as well but is closest to Serge's present look. It is slightly cheated: I had to add the shield-badge to his chest in postwork because the Steampunk cravat is in the same chest-detail slot.
The third design (the white/silver gray one) is completely free.
I'd just love to see Serge get a new look and better lighting. -
It's time, Serge. Long past time. You stand in a shadowy booth, wearing dark colors. Your arms and legs are like sticks. Your skin is pallid and your body is oddly bloated. Is it depression, Serge? Has the bottle got you?
Heroes are beginning to laugh at you when you suggest THEY need a makeover. Come on, honey, grab those bootstraps and heave!
I have a couple of ideas about this, so be still a moment and listen.
First of all you need to get into better condition. Some time in the gym will make you feel better, and your clothes will hang.

Secondly, you are far too conservative to be taken seriously as a fashion adviser. Don't be afraid to shine a bit, babe.

Third, keep it simply fabulous. You're a Winter, darling. White is definitely one of your colors. Come over here and stand under a light for once. Ooh! Look at you!

There now. Your superior glare has so much more power than it did. The Tsoo are out back in the alley, but they want to talk to you about new tattoo designs and better footwear.
Don't thank me, just drive it like you stole it. -
"players will have to complete both movies of the double feature in order to get the final reward- a new universal damage IO set. This set has near-universal appeal for players of all level ranges and also includes a special new proc that will convert the knockback of a power to knockdown."
Brilliant. It's more than I had hoped.
Atilla, I'm guessing you are playing on Freedom, Virtue, and/or Justice servers. Any other server, a team is a rare and wonderful thing, not to be lightly abandoned.
This upcoming rare proc is a great solution for players like me, who want a way to cancel their own knockback. It does nothing about the crowds of storm summoners who are trying to use [Gale] as a damage attack.
A recent exchange (of sorts) in a DFB mission with a storm summoner:
Me: Hey, could we lose the [Gale] please? This team is full of melee toons and you are blowing our enemies out of our hands.
(silence and [Gale] [Gale] [Gale] [Gale] [Gale])
Me: Dude. Seriously, Gale is for herding enemies into corners. It's not a damage power. Please stop.
(silence and slightly more judicious use of [Gale])
Me: Okay, ahead here, if you could use Gale to blow the Hydra spawns away from us while we beat on the Heads, THAT would be awesome.
That's what happened. It was awesome. -
I'd like to point out some words in my post to which it seems nobody has paid the least attention.
The words are "...have a chance to knockback..."
There are a few powers which have knockback as their primary intent. No problem if they are used well and wisely.
There are a huge number of powers that have knockback as a possible secondary effect. The knockback effect is not reliable. It doesn't serve any more useful purpose than knockdown would. In some cases it doesn't even make sense from a comic-book physics standpoint. These are the powers that I would like to see given an option of knockdown instead of knockback.
I am NOT trying to neuter anybody's effectiveness, and my suggestion would not have that effect. I'm trying to keep tanks, brutes, and scrappers from having THEIR effectiveness neutered by excessive and purposeless knockback. This is a condition that is already in the game.
Memphis Bill's and Doctor Roswell's lists of "related suggestions" make absolutely no sense to me. Why would anybody suggest disabling set bonuses or a stalker's stealth?
-The powers mentioned are not abusable.
-They don't blow mobs away from a melee toon.
-They don't throw minions off of cliffs in Oranbegan kill-all missions.
-They are not annoying and they don't detract from the effectiveness of other players.
Knockback, on the other hand, is, does, does, is, and does, respectively. -
I suggest that team leaders have an option added to their row of mission buttons. The option would be Knockdown. If selected, all chance-for-knockback powers in the team/mission become chance-for-knockdown instead.
This way, melee AND/OR knockback toons can petition the leader to shut off the excessive knockback if they are being annoyed/being annoying, and nobody need be kicked. Players that are good at using knockback get to use it, and players that are not good at using knockback have an incentive to get better.
I don't know if this would be technically feasable, but I suspect it would be sweet.
I've played all sorts of toons for years, but never an energy blaster and never a storm summoner. They might be a blast to solo, but I wouldn't inflict them on any team.
I'm seriously considering dropping my Peacebringers. Running them without the powers that do knockback would be about as effective as building a Mastermind without any pets, and when you add in the Voids and Quanta... I have a hard time getting them invited. -
D, because with different coloration it gives the most options for other types of toons to use it.
All black? Han Solo Blaster.
White with red trim? Retro sci-fi.
Wood, copper and brass? Steampunk.
Green and chartreuse? Radiation/Vahzilok.
We like options! -
Howdy folks! Anybody coming from or through Sacramento on Friday? I would far rather contribute ga$ and have like-minded traveling companions than take the $52 roundtrip ride on Amtrak + bus or cab or shuttle.
I'm also considering a trip to Cafe Gratitude on Friday night for dinner. -
Ah, and so it is.
Rats, I was hoping that the changes would allow me to respec some of my characters out of Jump Kick when they only took it to get Acrobatics. Ah well, Jump Kick has been improved, so there's that.
Thanks Morgan Reed! -
Hey folks! The Veteran Reward power that I have been looking forward to most is the 60-month travel-power unlock. It is not included in the Paragon Rewards program at all as far as I can see.
Devs, is there any chance that this is going to be rotated through the Paragon Rewards system? -
Wow, this thread has been thoroughly stomped into some very muddy mud.
People screaming that they are losing everything and it's not fair make me wish for a forum ignore button. I need to go watch Amelie to help restore my faith in humanity.
Before doing so, I'll restate my last post, which is long lost, bubbling away under two feet of mud.
"Hypothetical: I would like to populate the VIP server with my favorite characters. The once-a-month VIP free transfer is very nice, but it's going to take a looooong time (or be very expensive) to transfer every character that I would like to play there. Is there a chance that when the VIP server opens, VIPs could have some free transfers/character copies into that server?
This would also help allay the grousings of those folks that don't want to play with freebie players." -

They're cute when they ask Miss Liberty questions in broadcast. It's also kinda fun to parade around them in the finery that they can't get unless they subscribe.) -
Ah, thanks folks! I did have the date wrong, as my computer unexpectedly had the date and time quite wrong.
-
May 28, GMOTD said Devs would visit Pocket D at 7pm. It's after 9, no Dev visit. We are lost, lost and forgotten. We are sad, sad and lost.

Howdy folks!
I recently jumped up to 7 from XP, while also changing my C drive out for an SSD.
I have CoX on the C drive, and Test and Beta are on the D drive.
I re-downloaded and installed the NC Soft Launcher.
It shows CoX in the games list, but Test and Beta are not to be seen.
Is there any way to force the NCSoft Launcher to look at the other versions?
Should I un-and-re-install it? -
I'm mostly delighted with the new pack. It seems to me that a far greater emphasis was given to options than the earlier packs allowed, and it looks like some thought was given to the possibility of expansion (e.g. the bird head category has only the eagle face option at the moment, but there is room for other faces in the drop-down)
There is one glaring omission that is bugging me that I haven't seen addressed here, so I'll jump on it:
Tigers, cheetahs, leopards, cougars and some lions have white chest/belly fur. I realize that the chest:tights category has limited color options available.
-->Is it possible to let the skin color show through on the chest/belly area while keeping the two colors available for the animal fur?
-->Is it possible to add a chest details option that would add the third color to the chest/belly?
-->Is it possible to put the animal fur option in another category, like Jackets Open, that allows two colors on the jacket and another on the chest?
It does look like some time was spent trying to figure this out. The Tiger head/tiger pattern has three colors: fur, stripes and unchangeable white around the sideburns, jaw, and neck. The tiger 1 pattern for the chest has a slightly lighter area on the chest/belly.
As it stands, there are two ways to get a smooth transition from the neck to the chest: make a white tiger, or do away with the white bib by using the monocolor option for the head.

The neck/chest transition is a problem. I hope this can be added to the fixit request pile along with the bear head, the gorilla head, the expanded bird options and the flat furry boots.
For me, this was ten bucks very well earned, and it's closer to right than any of the other packs. Great work! -
After looking at the Press Release, I noticed the Three Wolf Moon t-shirt on the tigerman. I'm delighted to see that the devs snuck in that we will soon be able to have original art on t-shirts in game. That's great, and has been needed for a long time. Way to go devs!
Yes, I am joking.
Don't start. -
That WAS a lot of fun. It was a bit crowded; a larger space would have been more comfortable for all. The devs are remarkable people, and it was great to have a more intimate gathering with them. Still, the consensus from the crowd seemed to be that Cons are the thing, and that we'd be willing to pay a bit for one.
I hope nobody was unduly offended by my fortune cookies, they were there for fun. It sounded to me as if they entertained a few people at least. -
Facepalm. Duh. Taters an' gravy are good! Thanks Red! It looks like there are a couple of decent options for veggie folks.
-
Hey, I just noticed: The announcement mentions "great discussions, food and fun!"
Food? The rest of the announcement does not mention food. Is dinner provided? Are there vegetarian options available?
San Francisco has some of the best dining in the world, but I will need to know if I need to get take-out! -
Howdy all!
Hey, is anybody coming from or through Sacramento, CA with room in a car?
I will gladly pay gas money, bring hot scones and organic fruit, and provide quiet, intelligent and silly company. If nobody shouts out, I'll go by train, bus and BART.
Well, I cannot abide travel uncertainty, so I have gotten train tickets and a room.
I was unable to RSVP on the Facebook page, because I want nothing to do with Facebook. It looked like I would have to sign in to the thing in order to post.
Thank you, but oh hell no. -
It's a nice pack and I love the glowy! Have the "glowing" areas simply been blocked from ambient lighting effects? Extremely cool however it was done, and thank you!
Bravo to the danger of converting to a Rikti monkey for a minute...it shouldn't be a problem for any skilled player. I imagine that it will garner a mountain of opprobrium on these boards, but meh whiners. Having everything go your way all the time is boring. Mutation should be slightly dangerous.
There is one issue that I really am unhappy about:
I am surprised that this pack of all packs does not address the "monstrous" legs, which are being absolutely ignored!
Monster legs have some great wireframes, but the choice of textures is awful. The current choices barely match anything else in the costume creator. The two new mutant sets could take great advantage of the monstrous wireframes, all they need are new textures for the insectoid, hooves, and talons.
As a side note, the same three models would hugely benefit from robotic versions. I made some illustrations of this idea, linked from this post.
I like the new stuff, and I love that some ancient and resounding costume requests (tails/belts, animated tails, wolf tail, sleek boots and gloves, etc.) are finally being addressed! New content is always great, but I would most like to see this game be 100% win, rather than 90% win and 10% what the.
(edit) On further exploration, I have to revisit my opinion: HOW ON EARTH did this pack make it out the door without a new set of claws or two?
(edit) Here's one of the things I've done with the set:
With the advent of Portal technology, many visitors have made Paragon City their home. This being evolved to use both oxygen and methane for respiration. It appears to have a highly advanced form of echolocation, in combination with excellent monocular vision. It has made its home in the sewers deep beneath the city. For all its bizarre appearance and disregard for anything resembling human hygiene, it is extremely intelligent and shows a strong moral code.
Edit: Hmmm, so somebody didn't like my opinion/language/character design in this post, and decided to smack down my reputation, anonymously. I would welcome any discussion...perhaps we both might learn something, and be the stronger for it. -
For a brief, shining moment I flew...and then all of my dreams brought me crashing down like a $29.99 tent stuffed with old shoes. Thanks for the info though. It looks like my only hope is the temp-powers becoming colorable.
-
I have seen two versions of Powerslide. I have the lavender one, I want the golden one. Can anyone tell me which package had the golden powerslide?
