Rocker board toggle killer?
It does, but it also has a really low endurance cost (0.02/s) and provides some protection against -fly attacks. I think it would be Too Powerful if you had that and could also use it with abilities up.

Yes. It works just like walk - with a higher-than-fly speed, but since the dealbreaker on ever getting these from Paragon in the past was redoing *all* the animations for emotes, attacks, movement, and all that to account for hovering in mid-air with your feet "glued" to the board (too much time would have to be invested to re-do animations to implement another travel power that would work and look good with every other power/movement/emote in the game as to be too prohibitive...until the idea to "treat it like walk and detoggle everything" so you only have the movement animation and standing/hovering still to account for on each character model). So, as a compromise, they gave us a pseudo travel power - faster than fly, but you can't fight using it, it is a travel-only type.
I'm not fond of the appearance of the rocket board myself, but if they can "re-skin" it with something I'd rather hover along on instead...I'll accept the detoggle limitation for nifty and quick movement (I love fly but it is just too slow to remain "cool" - I wanted *fast* flight darn it)

Nomme is correct. It would have taken a year+ of reworking every single animation in game, from powers to emotes, for all 3 body types in order to be able to use powers while riding. Before someone had the epiphany that created Walk, we never would've seen anything like this because of the work load Vs payoff.
The tradeoff for having things like this is not being able to use anything at all while riding it, basically turning it into a moveable emote.
Also, with the popularity it's getting, combined with the fact that these things will generate good income, I fully expect to get more and more 'rigs' like this.

Energy Bubbles
Broomsticks
Clouds
Not to mention, it could be explored that using this tech could be a backdoor to adding (don't shoot me, I don't care for them) vehicles to the game, in a limited capacity. I'm thinking more along the lines of Sky Skiff type vehicles, as oppossed to Porches but anything is possible in COX 1.5.

and I know it woulda took forever to redo all the animations but it would took no time at all to let people keep their toggles running while it was active. I refuse to fly around without mez protection.

Ya everything this does temp powers do better. Sure the rocketboard goes a little faster but that's offset by the fact that you gotta waste the time to toggle up after everytime you fly and want to engage in combat.
I just hope the devs see the error of their ways and make toggles work with this thing.
I'm glad they implemented it (and other store items) because I only want to do the sewer trial from now on to level so I will be missing all the mayhem temps. It also frees up a slot for zone tp.
That's comical just thinking about. Ok I'm on an outdoor map kill all looking for the last few groups of which I like to be airborn birds eye view easier to see stuff and all that. Finally I find the group but wait I gotta stop like 100 feet short of them toggle up then run 100 feet then start fighting, ya that sounds super awesome /e end sarcasm.

I played around with it on Beta and had to say it felt really nice, unlike Raptor Packs and Fly. You move at a good speed, and just something about it feels right. Hard to put my finger on it, but I think it's a combination of non-sucky animations combined with the right speed, movement friction, acceleration rate.
I would love a Steam Punk themed board, though... something overtly mechanical (visible spinning gears!). Should be able to use the same animations, just a different board model and maybe particles.
When I've got some spare points, I'm likely going to buy it.

Rocket board is a Nemesis plot!
I've said this before elsewhere but I'll reiterate: I know why they had to make it so you can't use any powers while on the Rocket Board, I get it. But it'd be a million times more useful if it applied toggles were suppressed rather than turned off entirely. In its current form I'll use it if a character has up to 1 toggle, but more than that and I'll use alternatives like the Raptor Pack.

I have a sneaking suspicion that for every person who refuses to buy the Rocket Board (for whatever reason) there'll be MORE than that one person who will. These virtual items represent almost 100% pure profit for the company anyway - they can probably stand to have some people not buy them.
If you can't understand why the Devs decided to give the Rocket Board a built-in detoggle disadvantage (like Walk has) then you're probably better off without it anyway... |

Does this thing still turn off all toggles? If so anyone know why? I would pick it up but this is a deal breaker if it is still the case.
