What I'm most looking forward to in Issue 21

Beam Rifle, Dark Blast, Dark Manipulation: Hot dog! New blaster sets! I have my first Beam Rifle character planned and am also planning on rerolling a 46ish vampiric fire/psi blaster as dark/dark.

Time Manipulation: While not quite as excited about Time as I am about the other blast sets, I'm looking forward to it. I've got a 35ish Illusion/Kin controller that's going to get rerolled as an Illusion/Time because it fits his concept more closely. He's supposed to be a Zen Master of Time Badassery and Kin was as close as we got to that before Time came along.

New Tutorial: Eh... I like the tutorial, but you spend 5, maybe 10 minutes of your career there. The big thing for me is being able to roll what you like as far as AT, and choose your alignment in the Tutorial. I'm planning on heroic Dark/Dark and Archery/TA corrupters.

F2P Characters: Despite being a pretty firmly dedicated to my subscription, I'm REALLY looking forward to this. I'm burned out on incarnate content, but the most group action these days is for iTrials and level 50+ taskforces. I'm really looking forward to playing with a lot of fresh blood and returnees.

What I'm mostly looking forward to ain't in Freedom. That is to say - Street Justice and Titanic Weapons.

From what IS in Freedom, the biggest thing, really, is I'm making an Axe/Shield Scrapper on evil-side, and possibly a Sword/Shield Brute on hero-side, I haven't quite decided. Probably not gonna' make any new heroes until Street Justice, though.

The real treat will be the IDF costumes and Titanic Weapons, for me. That's what I'm waiting for to put Stardiver into action. I'm in the process of writing a story for her now.

Also looking forward to Titan Weapons. I might have to roll a new gargoyle for that one

As far as Freedom goes? Looking forward to being able to play for free if I can't subscribe. I just wish forum access were part of the Paragon Reward tree somewhere (like at tier 4 or 5).

I'm kinda meh on the melee sets, but I'm a dedicated blaster, really.

I'm kinda meh on the IDF costumes as well, honestly. It strikes me as 'Yet another Sci-Fi Armor'. I LOVE the Steampunk Pack because the pieces are distinctive, but more generic. They work with absolutely everything and can be reused endlessly. As happy as I am to have more variety, I wish that the art department would focus on more basic pieces and themed sets (Like the Witch Lace) rather than more armor.

I am definitely looking forward to the new Blaster sets. As someone who prefers ST blasting, Beam Rifle looks fantastic, as do the modifications made to Dark Blast. Though I dislike the overall melee-range orientation of Darkness Manipulation, I will still be taking it with Dark Blast for thematic reasons.

I, too, am looking forward to being able to roll whatever AT I want on whatever side I want. With that in mind, I will be making the aforementioned Dark/Darkness Blaster a Villain, because Dark/Darkness/Soul just sounds too good to pass up, and I have a great back story I have been sitting on (not to mention a camped name).

The IDF costume parts will definitely be implemented in a few of my costumes, and the Defense costume may replace some of my straight-tights looks.

Finally, I will agree with you again MOO: I am very much looking forward to having a surplus of players not only playing through but experiencing the 1-50 game for the first time.

@Winter. Because I'm Winter. Period.
I am a blaster first, and an alt-oholic second.

Yeah... I knew TW wasn't going into this issue, but up until very recently StJ was. I'm so bummed out about that. My name camp will sadly sit there at level 1 until that comes out. I've got zero interest in Beam Rifle.

The ONE thing I look forward to over all is the 10-costume-slot item. Oh my god, I'm getting that IMMEDIATELY.

I am going to roll a Time character and am looking forward to that.

I'm definitely looking forward to the new tutorial, because my favorite AT is Corruptor (but I hate redside) and getting them blueside is a 20+ level pain right now.

But there already IS. You can go safely through the Vanguard base at level 1 and access the tailor there immediately.

That's one of the design decisions that's really made me scratch my head.

I'm most looking forward to all the new story content. The new low level arcs, First Ward arcs, and yes, even the Underground trial (once).

After that, I'm looking forward to the new powersets. Beam Rifle will be a day 1 purchase, assuming they return the various weapons that were dropped (not gonna buy it until I know that they won't be charging extra for the extra weapon models, though). I'm also looking forward to several of the proliferated sets.

Blasters and me have a spotty history, and right now I hate the things. I'm not going to bother spending actual money for Beam Rifle until I'm positive that I can use the weapon models for Mastermind Robotics Pulse Rifle.

Then again, I mostly play Scrappers and Brutes, so melee is what interests me the most

IDF represents only the second set of large boots in the game's entire history. I'm not counting PPD boots, since they're tiny for women, whereas the IDF ones ARE NOT. I need the IDF boots and gloves for StarDiver's tech, and I intent to match them against a basic fabric upper and lower body - Tights, Stealth or Defence, depending on what works best. I need something simple that's mostly one-piece.

For reference, this is what Stardiver looks at the moment:

I need better boots and gloves and, considering she's pretty smallish, I want them bigger and more obvious. I'd use Enforcer but, frankly, those aren't very good, and there are no big enough boots to match the Large Robotic gloves.

Of course, all of this is moot, since I need a Titanic Weapon for her, as well. I hope to hell there's a tech-looking one. Something complex and energy-looking.

For the sake of being complete, here are a couple of "who needs what" improvements:

Xanta needs a bigger sword. A much bigger one! She's a level 50 BS/Inv Scrapper now. I intend to make her into a level 50 TW/Inv one when I'm able to do that. She is one of a VERY small selection of characters that are the heart and soul of my roster.

Jun is a self-taught fighter and enthusiastic second-generation hero. She's level a 30-something MA/SR Scrapper now, but Martial Arts looks too fancy. Street Justice on a little girl looks both so wrong and yet so completely right it has to happen. Forget the big burly half-naked men dishing out the justice of the street. Villains are going to get their ***** kicked by a little girl in a skirt, and she will make them beg for their mommy!

Damn it! Now I can't wait for Street Justice!

To be honest, I'm looking forward to the 2 free server transfers I'll be getting once it launches.

What am I most looking forward to?

WHAT AM I MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO?!

Being able to bloody well PLAY the game again since I couldn't play my new Tournament until the freaking game caught up with the new rules system for it!! I've been waiting three or more weeks without playing for this flippin' Issue to come out! An' all I gotta say is.... NO! Let me go! I've been waiting a while to tell the Devs exactly what I think of the way they treat me and my Tournament! Get your hands off me! OUCH! What the heck wazzz zat? Wuzz an owie... ooooh... pretty colors.... zzzzzzzzz...

Announcer's voice: We are sorry to interupt this response to the "What I'm most looking forward to in Issue 21" thread... It was Steelclaw's nappy time.

My mind wanders so often you've probably seen its picture on milk cartons. - Me... the first person version of the third person Steelclaw

Did you know some people still don't know that?

Design Decisions such as those aren't aimed at veterans aware of that little trick.

They're aimed at new players. I, for one, used to go to Steel Canyon EVERYTIME.

Then, I got the Pocket D VIP pass.

Then, after several months, I found out about that little offering.

Also, Mercy Island lacked tailor access entirely before i21, because it was a hellhole of giant walls and no travel powers.

Stuff like this is meant to make OoL features universally accessible.

Serendipitously, I am on vacation next week. Just the way I planned it. Beam Rifle... hmmm.

Wrong. Street Justice was never intended to be part of Issue 21 according to the Dev team. It has been planned to be one of the "frequent additions to the Paragon Market" we were told we'd be getting.

They weren't going to release it to the Paragon Market without testing it, so it was temporarily included in the Beta so they could datamine more numbers than they could get on their internal servers and get feedback from actual players.

Players often do things with powers and sets that the Devs never thought about, so they needed that play testing.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Black Pebble is my new hero.

It helps enhance the evil of the Villains, just like First Ward helps enhance the evil of the loyalists - so it makes defeating the bad guys even more fun

So you do PvP?
After all it's hardly going to enhance, or affect at all, NPC villains. Just the PCs.
The NPCs could be having roasted toddler for breakfast every morning before heading out to kick puppies on their way to work for all you know and the Mercy Island revamp won't change that in the slightest.

for me, its something weird, i really am looking forward to the new travel pool powers. my main is a ma/sr/bm scrapper, his aoe is exactly one power, dragons tail. spring attack may not be a massively powerful thing for the min/maxers, but for thinning large groups of minions without pulling out my incarnate powers, im kind of keen on it, plus it works thematically for him as a supernaturally quick martial artist to be able to just blink and smash. beam rifles, time, proliferation, new costume stuff, first ward, that's all good and i'll be making a beam rifle/ time defender but that's all expected to be good, i didnt see the 5th travel powers coming, particularly a viable aoe and they are nice.

oh and more costume slots, for a few chars those will be weapons of mass destruction.

now when do we get titan weps, street justice and the cot costume?

almost forgot my other big happy surprise, kanji chest details. i have been bugging for those for several years.

My time traveller will finally be rerolled! More AE arcs to play with. Celestial and IDF sets... And let's not forget the most important part, new BADGES!

Technically true, but we (I) didn't know that until the message came down the grapevine that the set was being pulled. I'm not angry about it, it's just... Disappointing that it's exactly the ONE set I really wanted that got pulled. Let's hope it's not delayed by too much.
