Mobs and elevators
ime, some do some don't
Some don't, but some do.
I was playing against Rikti once, and my health got lot, so I decided to hop on the elevator and recover my health. Imagine my surprise when the Rikti followed me and finished me off anyone.
Silent Blade also followed me in one of the Hero Morality missions.
If they're an ambush, they'll follow you through elevators. If they're static spawns, I don't think they will.

It's really hard to tell which ones will follow, unfortunately. It's some really hit-and-miss scripting or whatnot. I've had some I expected to follow, that I seemed to *remember* being able to follow, get to the elevators and wander away (as seen when I went back up.) Others... not so much.
And those pets from the Legacy, the stone ones.
Three words. Box of parts. I must of had 30 gears chase me down the elevator and nearly all the way back to the front door before they turned around.

Clockwork have weird aggro rules. I've had Clockwork outdoors chase me over a mile - and I didn't have any Taunt effects on the character. Inside missions, most enemies will ignore you once you get maybe 50 ft away if you are trying to dash through. Clockwork will follow you to the end of the map.

Don't forget that the different 'floors' are located in a big 3D box and you 'warp' from one point on one floor to another point on another floor.
That 'warping' might put you outside a mob's chase range, or not.
So, it depends.

The first time I discovered this was also the first time I discovered the ability of Council Dark Equinox Archons to turn into Warwolves. Scared the crap out of me so I high-tailed it to the nearest elevator with my squishy Blaster. I thought I was safe.
...I was wrong.
That was ages ago though, want to say maybe I6 or 7 at the latest.

We will honor the past, and fight to the last, it will be a good way to die...
First time this happened to me was redside and I not only got chased down the elevator but when I exited the mission for a quick rest and heal I had the bejeezus scared out of me when the damn mob came out of the mission after me! They didn't attack. Just came out and immediately entered the building again, but Damn! that surprised the hell out of me.

I've had an ambush follow me down the elevator as recently as this past week, so the feature definitely still exists.
Any summoned mob will follow you through an elevator. This includes Clockwork that are summoned by an Assember, gears that are generated by a boss death, the Box of Gears, Legacy of Chain stoneys, Warwolves that used to be human mobs first, Rikti that come through a Communication Officer's portal, Dr Aeon clones from LRTF, etc.
I guess that includes player based ambushes (but not location based ambushes) as mentioned earlier.
I had a funny experience with a foe and elevators yesterday, while playing an AE arc.
At one point I was facing down Mother Mayhem and I guess I was a frightening enough opponent because she ran - you know, the usual RUN AWAAAAY! thing - and headed right for the elevators behind me. Turns out she couldn't use elevators, she just kept running back and forth in place while I kept whittling her HP down.
Just realized that after my return from a 10-month hiatus, I've never seen a mob follow the team down the elevators. I used to love this upgrade/surprise (in a grudging "should've considered that" kind of way) Did they remove the elevator ambushes?
