NRG Blasters Vs Warshade/PB
One thing to note that even if PBs are one the weaker side, they offer more versatility within the build than a blaster does due to the 3 forms. Blasters get their versatility via the different styles of blasters you can roll. A Fire/fire, Sonic/elec, and Ice/ice will all three play different.
|
Changing forms, in my honest opinion, is annoying and mostly because of the delays. On my lvl 42 PB, I mostly play Dwarf form because its damage is not that far behind human form and I've never played a Tanker before. If I try to be versatile by changing from Dwarf to Nova or to human, I may get killed because I tend to draw a lot of aggro. And even if I took the human shields, they are de-toggled when you change forms. So if you have any mez on you, you will be held/stunned/feared and whatnot.
Peacebringer's versatility is really hindered by those restrictions. The lack of mez protection in human form is kinda annoying too and all those knock backs... ugh. Solar Flare should not do knock back. It should do knock down or hell, just don't do any knockings! It's like on my first build, I tried to create a Hovering Peacebringer that you see in enemy group. Well, you can't use solar flare in air.

Peacebringer has the potential but I can't stand all those restrictions. The shifting delays just makes me not want to shift. All forms should be able to use at least Photon Seekers and Glowing Touch. Do they seriously think the game balance is ruined if Dwarf/Nova can use Photon Seekers? That power's recharge is too long for its effect IMO. You also can't cast them like you can with Trap Seekers because you can easily drop Trap Seekers to take alpha damage. With Photon Seekers, they only appear around you and they follow you to battle, which means their total damage output could be wasted by hitting just the minions that stand up front. Of course you can save it and cast them in the middle of the crowd. It just does even more KNOCK BACKS. That's all.
It's like whatever you think they might be good for, they have to put something that say "oh no... you are not going to do that easily!".
I am leveling a Warshade right now and he is only lvl 30. Warshade, while I think it's still weak at the current stage, at least has a good STYLE. And their powers have way more synergies than PB's.
What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.
These aren't entirely correct. Dark Nova Emanation doesn't actually do any knockback. The Dwarf Strike is knock down.
|
I've NEVER had DN Emanation KB anything i've ever hit with it...and trust me...a LOT of mobs have had a face full of it. Dwarf Strike is only KB if you're hitting something lower level than you...otherwise...knock down. Same as every other knock down power in the game.

If I only wanted to blap I'd make a blaster over a human form pb, khelds are duct tape at everything but versatility. If I wanted something versatile I'd make a Kheldian.
He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, or shamelessly extol his own virtues. - Sima Qian.
Obviosly I know the difference between the AT's with WS being maybe more survivable, or versatile. But both are squishy for the most part depending on how you build them. |

Actually, I found my main concern with the WS. Oddly It was not what I thought it would be which was the knockback. I dont find the playstyle dull, and I certainly like the power options. They are interesting.
I generally build fun stories to go with my creation. The problem with a Kheld's is that they are Kheld's.
There is litterally nothing I can do with the story. So, unlike the blaster, of which I have complete story control, I have no control other than how they merged etc.
I think thats why I deleted my last one to be honest.
Although Im going to stick this one out.
As I said, I am so used to my Dom now that a little different playstyle might actually be fun over the frill of story writing.

On top of being the father of MFing, Dech's Warshade also has a pretty cool story/concept thing going on.
Personally, I RP all my creations as paranoid schizophrenics who are under the impression that they are video game characters being controlled by someone named TwoHeadedBoy... They speak accordingly.

Warshades are not heavy on knockback and they do not do energy damage. You seem to think the PB and WS are very much the same animal. That could not be farther from the truth.
|
Anyways, In this situation I'd have more support for the Warshade AT. A Peacebringer has more knockback, but a warshade is a total powerhouse when it comes to survivability! Dechs' guide speaks for itself, haha you should look into it.
I have a level 50PB and it's a fun character but it's not as strong as i would like him to be. On the otherhand my Warshade, only like level 15 is much more fun! (:

Even so, the Kheldian story arcs are actually pretty decent. There are interesting things at stake there that most of the rest of the game does not worry about (different focuses, etc.), which I found appealing.
I actually found a fun story context for my Peacebringer. He was an old college professor, and he grew tired of all the troubles facing the city and being able to do nothing about them. Even more so when his favorite student disappeared, and then other students he knew dropped out to find him. That's a dry summary, but I was able to get more poetic with it in his bio, and then he meets a Kheldian.
"And he was no longer alone."
I guess I see the Kheldians rather like the To'Kra on Stargate, where you have a companion with you at all times who understands you perfectly and is your best friend. Think of it that way, and you'll hopefully find a bio.
From the rumors I have heard, now is a good time to roll a Kheldian, but maybe it's me being hopeful.

Quick note, this isn't true. Someone pointed out in the original guide thread that the whole 'MFing' motif had been taken from another guide for another game.

The creator of the other guide I drew my inspiration from goes by the online alias Condon. He is not the first to use a MFing motif, and I am not the last. The motif itself does not belong to anyone, regardless I have thanked him for his inspiration on my own guide. I have also acknowledged said inspiration.
I don't know what else you want from me.

I would recommend you stick with the WS. I'm level 30 now and am loving it. I can't wait until I have eclipse and gain that survival tool. I've never face-planted so many times on a toon and enjoyed it so thoroughly. There is something about the rush of taking on too much and living, just to use their corpses to gain full health/stam.
Also, as a personal recommendation that works for me, slot recharge bonuses early if it suits your build/playstyle. At 30, with hasten running I am around 122% global recharge (basilisk gaze, 3x LotG, 3 sets of Positron's 5 slotted, and 1 or 2 other powers with 5% recharge). That amount of recharge at this level brings all my needed tools up so much quicker that I see a noticeable impact on survival and damage.

If you've thanked him for the "inspiration", given credit to him or whoever the originator is in the guide itself, (I wouldn't know, not read it since the forum version I'm afraid), then fair enough.
Edit: to clarify, the Condon guy may not be the real originator so to speak, but he is who you got it from.
Edit the Second: just thought, if you want to continue this we should take it to PMs. I don't want to derail the thread with this.

I love my human form PB, she kicks butt (and for the purists, yes I use lightform) and the only thing that stops her from being unstoppable is the end drain. Even with the proper Alpha slotting to mitigate that I find that I quickly run out of endurance. Would I love to see some tweaking? Sure!
Her back story involves a bit of ill luck, time travel (on the noodly alien's part), and a general conspiracy. Oh and did I mention that I set it to Iron Maiden's Paschendale and Infinite Dreams? Need to finish it though.
I just created my first Energy blaster and she is a lot of fun. However, I still prefer my PB and WS.
With the toggle suppression, you can create a pretty durable PB. Think of it as a Blapper, with resistance shields, and a few T9 abilities that'll make the difference in a pinch.
Plus, when things start throwing mez's at you, just go dwarf, smash some faces, and go back to human.
Between that and the fact the inherent for both PB and WS is just pure GODLY on leagues makes both Khelds much more useful then they previously used to be. WS are still better then PBs, but PBs aren't all bad.
Somebody said warshades get stunned? I thought that was the game's invitation for you do to your dwarf mire and start pounding things and then get back to your previous blasting.

My tri-form Warshade is not a Kheldian. Neither is my Human PB. You can write up whatever you want for your character's bio, the game doesn't forbid it. I even went through the Kheldian story arcs, but instead of being one of them I was just helping them. As an outsider. Because my characters are not Kheldians.
