Nor is Greenwich Village a village. Your point?

But assumedly at some point it was, before it got swallowed up by an expanding New York. The name simply stuck from there.

I'll give you a topic. Galaxy City is neither a Galaxy nor a City. Discuss amongst yourselves.

Excuse me, I have to scrape pieces of my mind off of the ceiling.

Lake City is a suburb of Seattle. It lies within the city limits and is subject to the governance of the police and city council of Seattle. It's a Seattle zip code.

Regardless, if you look on the right maps it is still labeled "Lake City" and all of the locals still refer to the area as "Lake City", despite the fact that the incorporated city government of the township of Lake City was annexed into Seattle and ceased to actually exist many years ago.

In any case, the residents of Paragon City have clearly never had any problem with inventing nicknames for the various sections of town that they occupy. The fact that Galaxy City was named as a "city" well after it was already a neighborhood of Paragon City and not an actual town any more is unlikely to have bothered anybody very much.

Yes but the game is called CITY of heroes.

So why, when you have the entirety of the English language to chose from, do you use the word CITY when naming neighborhoods?

Because "Sprawling Metropolis of Heroes" wouldn't fit on the box.

In the UK city status was linked to having a cathedral. The only cathedral in game (if I recall) is Moth Cathedral, which would make Dark Astoria a city

Crystal CITY and Pentagon CITY are neighborhoods within the city of Arlington, VA. They were place names before they got incorporated into the larger city area, but kept the names. Likewise, I imagine that Galaxy and Skyway Cities were "cities" before they got incorporated into the larger Paragon City, but kept their names as nostalgia.

@Doctor Gemini

Arc #271637 - Welcome to M.A.G.I. - An alternative first story arc for magic origin heroes. At Hero Registration you heard the jokes about Azuria always losing things. When she loses the entire M.A.G.I. vault, you are chosen to find it.

Crystal City? Is it as I image it? (I'm guessing not)

Nope, just teleported myself there via the medium of Google Maps, it isn't a giant citadel of glowing white crystal at all.

So I'm guessing that Pentagon City isn't populated by a race of sentient 5 sided shapes either?

Worst names ever!

Also, you can name your child something other than Mary in Maryland. I don't know why.

Just to add to the disappointment, Crystal City has a Water Park. Except that it has no slides, and just a stupid waterfall. Worst. Deception. Ever.

Also Haymaker is not a haymaker... Wait, no, now it is. OK, Cleave doesn't cleave people, hows that? Or, I have one better - Darkest Night doesn't have anything to do with the darkest night I've ever seen. Mine didn't have smoke or tendrils.

The Stalker inherent power Assassination does not reliably assassinate it's target.

Why, when there are any number of topics to choose to create a thread about, would one choose THIS inane topic? I guess humans are just funny like that.

City of Villains is not a city at all.

it's a group of islands pieced together and recognized as a sovereign nation.
