"Shadowy Presence invisibility power that may well save your life!"

What? Since when? It takes 5 seconds to activate and if anyone bumps into you it goes away. On a ten-minute recharge.

Edit: Yeah, what Zombie Man said. Shadowy Presence is worthless, but the rest of the deal is sweeeeeeet

If people by it for that, they'll be charging you with false advertisement.

This might be more of a sweetener to the deal...

If you don't have GR already or only picked up the Early Release version, you can add this on and get a free month (worth $15) which is like getting $5 free!

Also, if you plan to go Freemium and don't have GR, this will make sure you have access to Praetoria while Freemium and get the 2 extra Global Character Slot Unlock Tokens. (If you wait til after FREEDOM, purchasing GR will not give you that extra 2 slots.)

It's also a good way to add a second account to use as a Freemium account to complement your VIP account, since this edition is a complete game purchase (CoH + CoV + Preatoria).

ONE DAY ONLY SALE.

I've found that Shadowy Presence works pretty well if you find yourself needing to use Rest in a dangerous area.

But yeah, it's otherwise completely useless. >_>

I'd love to buy this for my second account, but Steam's captcha system is ridiculous if not borderline impossible. A bunch of dashes and ink blots.

For the technically challenged, and not so much in the know, if you purchase it through Steam, do you have to run it through Steam? I'm perfectly happy the way I access the game now, but would love to take advantage of the bargain. Thanks!

I purchased it through Steam and I can tell you for sure that you do NOT have to run it through Steam. You will get a game code from Steam. Take the game code to the PlayNC website and either add it to your existing account (for the cheap month Zombie Man mentioned), or create a completely seperate account. After that, you can log in using your normal client, or via Steam.

Now, the Steam version is getting an update today. It's downloading right now. Did they finally fix it to use the NCSoft updater? Or is it actually going to update via Steam (which I think would be super sweet)? I can't wait to find out.

Explain under what circumstances this is can be true.

Although the Steam deal is a pretty good one, I telling my friend who plan on coming back when f2p hits. to get this to get a leg up

Basically pay 9.99 to unlock 2 global slots, 2 costumes sets, 4 emotes, ability to Change alignment from Hero to Villain or back, and the new zones in Praetoria. also get 400 paragon points(worth 5 bucks) since you get a month gameplay for free. And the fact that if you unlock it before CoH goes F2P you keep it.

Many captchas have a double arrow swirly button for 'try another one'. Some also have a speaker icon for hearing it out loud.

Where did you get your game code? I created an account to be able to purchase it for a friend, they created an account to receive it but when they log in to the account it doesn't show a game code anywhere. It shows no purchases at all in their Account Details.

EDIT: Nevermind. Found the answer elsewhere. You have to install their crapware Steam Client in order to be able to claim the game code. Since he and I both refuse to install Steam on our computers (and he doesn't have permissions to install it anyway), I guess I'll have to start seeking a refund. Too bad, he'd have liked to be able to reactivate it and get GR on his account.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Not true. just take the cd key and use it as an upgrade on your account

Thanks for the tip, Z-Man, but the refresh button wasn't working earlier.. I found myself having to refresh the entire page. I still couldn't get a decent captcha, in Firefox or IE. I eventually gave up and searched for a work around.. thankfully, one exists.

If anyone was having the same problem I was, downloading the Steam client and creating an account from there works without needing a captcha.

Also, one you purchase the game via the client, click on "Game Details" and to the right, you should see a CD Key link for your serial code. Second account just become a bit more premium

Yes, AFAIK, you have to install the Steam client in order to get the game code. I think it's only available by going into the Steam client and right-clicking on the game then choosing "View Game CD Key". I tried to get it by logging into the Steam website, but that's a no-go.

Good luck with the refund. If that doesn't work and you know someone who has Steam (and you trust them), then you might be able to re-gift it to them since your friend hasn't claimed the gift yet. Once that other person claims the gift, they can send the CD Key to whoever you need. Unfortunately, I'm not sure the re-gifting option is available on the Steam website. May only be available in the Steam client.

Ok, the sale is over, but I have a question regarding it and Issue 21 that needs to be addressed at some point:

What, exactly, does a premium account get from having City of Heroes Going Rogue: Complete Collection attached to it?

I understand from your post (and previous redname posts) that it has:
  • +2 character slots if applied before Issue 21 launches.
  • Alpha Costume set (various bits & aura)
  • Omega Costume set (various bits & aura)
  • The lousy Shadowy Presence power. I actually rate the usefulness of this power below the Walk power as walk can be used for demos/machima. This power is the most useless player power in the game. Critters can see you while in it, it has a long activation and short duration, you get knocked out of it if bumped by anything or use any power, and a recharge that is the same length of the duration (only if you don't get knocked out of it prematurely).
And we've been told that this will NOT include the Incarnate System.

However, you don't mention any of the following for Premium customers:
  • Access to Praetoria.
  • Side Switching.
  • Four Stance Emotes.
    • /e stancehero1
    • /e stancehero2
    • /e stancevillain1
    • /e stancevillain2
  • Electric Control Power Set for Dominators and Controllers (if the premium account has unlocked Controllers in some fashion).
  • Demon Summoning Power Set (if the premium account has unlocked Master Minds in some fashion).
  • Dual Pistols Power Set.
  • Kinetic Melee Power Set.
  • Hero and Villain Alignment Merits.
  • Fort Trident and the Crucible.

I missed this sale. Please have another before Freedom goes live? "One day only" was a very easy window to miss, especially being out and about due to the summer climate.

I missed it too.

If there is another one, can someone please post in this thread (even if you create a new one)?
I'm subscribed to this one so hopefully I will get an email notification in time.
