that's good news, I've decided to bring my warshade in the age of IOs as one of my fremium projects
-
I forgot about SSAs. oh well, gotta get something special for your VIP money. they were a nice way to get AMerits.
are reward merits (from TFs) a VIP content? -
can anyone confirm that since I have 32 slots on Justice, I must have purchased 20 over the years and will get 22 slots as premium? I can probably live with that...
-
Been playing for a while (My Tier 8 slots are all full) but going Premium for while or forever, not sure. I don't play enough to keep my subscription.
I'm trying to figure out what I keep and what I lose by going Premium.
* I know I collected extra character slots over the years, either through direct purchase or by applying extensions pack (for example I'm pretty sure I got 2 slots when I got Going Rogue). I currently have 32 character slots on Justice,as opposed to 12 everywhere else. Does that mean I purchased 20 extra slots, so I will have 22 as premium? I will get to chose which 22(?) characters to unlock out of my 32 when I first log in as premium right?
* I'm pretty sure I keep power sets I purchased (like Beam Rifled or Beast Mastery), but I lose the sets that were free for VIP (like Dark control)?
If I care enough about unlocking my dark controller, will it prompt me to purchase the power set first with my unspent points? or do I keep the character with that powerset if it exists before my account goes premium?
* along the same lines anything I bought with my VIP paragon points, like Secondary Mutation or the animal costume pack remain mine since I "paid" for them.
* I had Kheldians and SoAs unlocked years ago, so I think they'll remain unlocked on my premium account?
* Because I'm Tier 8, I will still have access to inventions, the market, masterminds and controllers and other goodies unlocked by higher Tiers
* (edit) I also get to keep all unclaimed mail items, whether character or account, right?
what I lose:
* can't access my own SG base because I'm in an SG with my kids and none of us will be VIP and able to pay rent. I could invite a VIP friend to join, even temporarily to pay the rent for me right? (what a pain)
* lose all incarnate missions (iTrials...) and access to DA? any existing incarnate powers will be disabled (but not lost should I ever go back to premium?)
Does that more or less sum it up? -
Quote:Wow, this is great, market + IO access, that changes things quite a bit.If this GUIDE is current yes you get life time access to inventions at tier 7...
Last remaining main problem is paying SG rent. / I'm in a single person SG. Might need to enlist a VIP to get the rent paid. -
I'm about to go fremium for a while, both because I need a break and for finance reasons.
I just filled Tier8 in my reward tokens, but I don't think it allows IOs does it?
since I don;t want to buy an IO license either, I'm looking to make a brute that will be decent with just SOs in case I need to scratch the itch. I'll be leveling that character from scratch.
any ideas? I'm looking for a good combination of survivability and damage and will be teaming almost exclusively.
Edit: I don't have titan, SJ or Staff unlocked but I have 1500 points unspent in the store, so they are an option -
If you want to go the build-it yourself route, sharkyextreme has a couple sample builds:

Quote:Nope, I'm playing in Ultra mode, albeit not everything maxed out.Are you two playing on safe mode or with stick-figure characters and building block buildings?
and my computer was "top of the line" sub-$2000 when I put it together (along the lines of what you suggest in the earlier post for today's hardware)
I found one of the confirmation email, I put that computer together in late '07

I upgraded the video card to a Radeon HD5770 in 2010, I also upgraded the system drive to an SSD around that time.
I had not realized my system was that old -
Then we'll agree to disagree.
My old Radeon HD5700 series can run two instances of the game, one at 1600x1200 the other at 1920x1200,even with CoH being "inefficient" (it does slow down ehn I have both instances of the game in a hami raid, but still playable)
The title should be change to something like "looking for best gaming computer under $2000", but you guys make it sound like you *need* the balls-to-the-wall big iron. It's fun and cool to have the best computer you can afford. there's nothing wrong with that, and if you play more demanding games than CoH, then you're set. But almost *any* modern computer with a real graphic card (not the integrated crap) will run CoH well.
by the way all those $500 graphic cards in the link appear to be out of stock, and I'm not a fan of the caviar blue (for one thing, it runs poorly in raid configuration if you ever plan to upgrade) I'd get a caviar back instead, but otherwise those suggestions are a nice sub-$2000 killer gaming system. since the OP has very little experience building computers, he may want to stay with a more mainstream cooling solution (heck stock cooler is generally not half bad) -
wow, most of the suggestions in this thread are hugely overkill for CoH
CoH is pretty easy on resources, I regularly play 2 instances of Coh (one on each monitor) on my 3 year old machine with only 4G of RAM. -
Quote:This is oh so right! You didn't really say if you are going to try to solo this character or play only on teams. Solo will be horribly slow until you can slot up the pets, and then it will be pretty slow instead of horribly slow.
I can solo tips at +0x1 relatively quickly, I'm thinking about trying -1x3/6/8 to see if it's any faster (or at least not slower?) and more interesting.
This is an amazingly survivable combo, I did an ITF where I locked an ambush in the back while the team was dealing with another ambush from the front. By the time they were done I had gotten rid of most minion (mostly through confusing them into killing each other) but hadn't made a dent in the bosses or EB, but I could have locked them all day without breaking a sweat.
I'm at level 40 and just tried the Epic Power Bolt and it's dismal. I does like 1/4 of the damage of the vet wand or nem staff!
I resigned myself to having a mostly no-damage build that I will rarely solo with and rework my plan to the following build:
* relatively cheap (no purples or PvP)
* Perma Hasten (86% in recharge bonuses)
* "perma" Chronoshift
* Good defense, half of which also benefits team and pets defense gets much higher at higher level because I can Power Boost Farsight every application). The -toHit adds to it but not if I have to take alpha, although that's rare with ranged a sleep and confuse.
* Additional 10% defense for Gremlins through procs
* Mag 8 KB protection
* additional accuracy to make sure controls don't miss

mine is now lvl44 and I can't wait to get the strong and pretty badge at 50.
need to work on a build though, still running my spftcapped build from lvl27 and I still do pretty awesome -
none commented on Weave, but looking at the numbers on Mid's, it looks like it provides only 6%.
Probably not worth the power and the slots since it's my only source of defense. -
Any update with ATOs?
Converters *might* also bring the very expensive price down.
I'm running the build posted below, I guess you'd sill call it moderate, since I have no PvP, HO or purples, and has similar stats to the one you posted.
- softcapped (45%) positional
- 264% regen
- 184% rec (without alpha)
- 58% rechg
I wouldn't mind additional defense for DA and now have access to one Glad armor +3%, I have access to a scrapper ATO, I might be able to work in a few HOs, but I'm still short on cash for purples, I have one sleep purple set I could convert for this build.

No SG access either.
"farming" is the wrong term also, without being able to get drops and sell, or even trade inf, what I want to do is not farming as a much as help PLing toons from my main account or my kids' accounts (they're premium)
I do like the idea of earth. I think I'll start with that, see how Endurance works out, and take it from there. -
I thought of Hami Os, I also think they work for free accounts.
However free accounts don't have access to the market and can't trade, so I'd have to rely on drops while playing this character through Hami raids. Probably not worth it, given how many Centrioles I get on my main account (my longest streak was 13 in a row broken by getting a Lyso)
I could get a trading license but then it wouldn't be a free account, and I'm not sure I want to spend that much on him anyway.
As far as damage in Spin, the good news is that it's cheap and easy to waste SOs to try a few combinations.
I won;t be able to respec this toon more that 3 times easily (all 3 respec trials) so I sorta need to get the Epic pool right.I specifically chose Energy Mastery for FA.Since everyone thinks it's a bad choice, I need to look at the pools as other alternatives.
I unfortunately don't have a good feel for what the end use will be and whether I need the Epic to help with End or not, especially with Consume. I may have to burn a respec to find out. -
no damage? why? fury? wouldn't it still multiply with the enhance damage?
Also, since I would like to farm with this build, I figured FA would help miss less when fighting purples, even though it's End heavy. -
This is my free account, I decided to make a support toon and a damage toon that I can use to assist or level the ones from my main account when needed.
I also want to use those characters as a toon my kid's friend can borrow when he comes visit and wants to play with us.
I finally got to implementing that idea of over double XP weekend and I now have a 40-something claws/FA brute.
So I want a character that might be good for getting a character over a few levels by inviting them to a demon farm or similar, but is also playable for general purpose.
It's been ages since I played either set, and even longer since I used SOs in anything, but this being a completely free account, I can't do IOs
so here 's my proposed build, anything outrageously wrong?

I'm pretty clueless when it comes to base building, I inherited the SG when my buddies stopped playing CoH, I now use it for my own toons and my kids only. The most complex thing I ever did was replace the TPer with the hacked ones.
It looks like I have a small plot and even though I have plenty of room to add both enhancement and salvage storage, the editor tells me the maximum amount for this plot has been placed.
when I look at upgrading plots, it looks like the max storage if 18 for all of them though. Did I exceed my limit?
It looks like the 18 is salvage+enh, can I do any mix I want, for example 17 enhancements and one storage? -
nevermind, I was running script 0.8.1, updating to 0.8.4 seemed to fix it
-
anyone having trouble with the latest COH patch?
I tried to run today (first time on that machine since i22) and I get a "not an ARRAY reference" at line 436 of the script? -
almost right, I was asking about creating a Carp/Waffles brute

I'm going to switch Mu Bolt to Zapp, I probably wouldn't use an unslotted Mu Bolt anyway, so might as well get a higher range pulling power
