i20.5: Astral/Empyreal cost to unlock everything
I saw a lot of unhappy customers when this information reached some of my global channels. I forsee more rabbling when it reaches the general public and more casual players.
Some of the chest emblems are so underwhelming that I fail to see why they're locked to begin with. I'd add the same comment for the emotes.
Not sure about "end game content", but Swoon and Collapse are pretty epic.

Olol wait...
Seriously. Still 100% NOT amused with that. Someone is having a joke...
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

I might be wrong here, but maybe the problem is that hardcore grinding isn't something most costume harvesters are into. In other words, costume pieces appeal to the people who like the social aspect over playing the game, so those same people aren't happy when they are forced to do something they don't like in order to get their costume fix.

The general response when this was first announced back then was "...You are joking, right?...You're NOT? The smeg?"

Add to this that when you are working on costumes you are costing yourself on purchasing incarnate abilities, unless you rely entirely on the RNG. I tend to think many people fall in the middle on the costumes/abilities scale. I actually envy the people who only want 1 or the other because even with 10 incarnate trials this system is going to be painful.
In order to unlock everything, you have to spend one of the following:

Q. Just wondering Posi, where are the new dance emotes we were told would come with GR?
A. Positron: Whoops, my bad.
1387 badges, and counting
Triumph: White Succubus: 50 Ill/Emp/PF Snow Globe: 50 Ice/FF/Ice Strobe: 50 PB Shi Otomi: 50 Ninja/Ninjistu/GW Stalker My other characters
Pardon my ignorance, but since when are emotes considered to be end game content?
|
In other words, a long time before this game out, and it won't end until a long time after.
Content is content, and it gets distributed however they decide. Coming up with artificial distinction is just that, artificial. Unless you're privvy to the criteria the devs use, any distinction you apply is going to be a guess.

Yes, for global unlocks, the item gets removed from the list after you buy it. You will then get certificate. The first time you select a certificate you can ask for a refund. If you claim the certificate, then the option to refund the item isn't available any more. On subsequent characters if you accidentally delete the certificate before claiming it, it will re-appear in the certificate list to be claimed.

Hmm. I seem to have 1 more emblem than you do. You might have missed one.

Fixed. I got them confused with Trail Auras, but the mistake is only in there, not in the actual totals.

I must have included one of the Ascension chest emblems by mistake then.

So is it safe to say all costume pieces are global and will be removed once I purchase one of the pieces. So we know what is global and what isn't?
|
Global pieces disappear from the menu when you purchase them.
What is not global is the early-unlock for capes and auras so that they would be accessible at level 1 on an alt instead of levels 20 and 30.

- An 18 threads Voucher redeemable on one character.
- A Incarnate Shard redeemable on one character.
- An Empyrean Merit -> 1 Astral Merit conversion. (Seriously Devs, what the heck are you thinking for this one?)
- Four Incarnate Threads redeemable on one character.
- An Astral->Reward Merit conversion.
- Incarnate Unlock redeemable on one character.
- Cape Unlock redeemable on one character.
- Auras Unlock redeemable on one character.
- Super Inspirations for current character.
- All Set IO (Standard/Purple/PVPIO) Recipes.
And yeah, the Ascension (both "regular" and radiance only are usable on level 50+ characters).

Yeah... this is gonna be fun to do with two accounts... x_x
(But, I do understand that they're not going anywhere, and I don't HAVE to get them all unlocked on both my accounts in the first week or anything... I don't even have to unlock them at all if I don't want to!)
Main Hero: Chad Gulzow-Man (Victory) 50, 1396 Badges
Main Villain: Evil Gulzow-Man (Victory) 50, 1193 Badges
Mission Architect arcs: Doctor Brainstorm's An Experiment Gone Awry, Arc ID 2093
-----
They're all global with the exception of the Ascension Armor Set which is global and limited to only your level 50 toons.

Not global:

I've logged on test and bought a few things and yes, they did get removed from the list. Which is great. As I planned on using multiple characters to buy what was available and i was not wanting to buy things twice, so that works out.

I think the costs are fine. I am willing to bet at least a few of those will end up in the Paragon Market too.

As with the above, I'd be much happier if most of that stuff ended up in the Paragon Market. I can live without the Lineage II armour, though. Yeah, it's cool, I will admit, but it's not cool enough to argue with one-track minds about how it's a status symbol of Incarnate power.

I'm obviously not saying that just because I don't see costumes as end game content that the development team should kowtow to my whim and hand them out for free. Far from it. But I AM saying that this point is worth discussing, both among ourselves so we can build consensus, or at least be aware of each-other's stances, and with the development team in an effort to both make our feelings known and possibly even affect change.
The development team is not made up of Nemesis Automatons. These are real people with actual human brains inside their skulls, and these people can be appealed to. Yes, what they say goes, but I can still argue what it is that they ultimately say. It's down to the individual developer, obviously, but I have argued with some degree of success with quite a few developers, both past and present. That even includes Jack Emmert himself, who despite all the bile he gets here, was at least open to discussing his decisions, even if that rarely yielded results.
If you hold it as a fact that the game is whatever the developers make it and us discussing this is pointless, then you could simply go ahead and shut down the forums for all they matter.
Samuel_Tow is the only poster that makes me want to punch him in the head more often when I'm agreeing with him than when I'm disagreeing with him.
|
And just because some costume hounds don't like actually playing the game, doesn't mean some don't. Some people want to have cool costume rewards for doing endgame stuff, and this is the first thing they've gotten in this vein in seven years.
They seem under-priced to me. The full ascension radiance set, which is unlocked for the entire account, costs just a bit more than a Very Rare would.
|
Getting all the items that don't have Astral Merit prices takes 2.3 times the cost of a very rare component or 1.15 times the cost of a PVPIO recipe. That places the value at around 2 billion inf.

I just want everything unlocked, even if I'm not going to use it. Which is why NCsoft will get a lot more money from me -- unless they decide to put the same dumb IP block they have in the NCsoft store in the ingame store.
