Friendly Reminder To Those Who Team with me

I've been receiving a lot of interesting feedback lately. So, I thought I would just lay it out for people so there is no misunderstanding...

When I run a team/group, I am pretty much of the opinion that everyone who joins does so of their own free will. I can advertise all day long and you do not have to join teams run by me. Let's just be up front about that. And, I am of the opinion that when you join a team run by me or another person, you are generally agreeing to follow the instructions/directions and fulfill the expectations that person has.
My main expectation is that people on my team are reasonably intelligent and able to perform their role well without having to really be asked. If you are playing a toon with "buffs," then I generally expect that you will make use of those buffs as much as possible. Yes, maintaining some buffs may be annoying, particularly in large groups, but your contribution goes a long way. Even something as simple as spreading out those nifty "Fortune" buffs can help a lot.
Also, I expect (within reason) that people know what's going on and do their best to help the team achieve our objective(s). I do not like having people along who are totally clueless. Even if you have never done something before, you ought to make your best effort to learn so that in the future you know what to do.

Most importantly, I look for people who can take directions and follow them without me having to ask you more than a couple times, preferably only once.

If things are not going well or I feel people are being stupid, just expect that I tend to get very bitchy and cranky. If you can't handle it, just don't join my teams.

In fact, if you can't handle being expected to function at a reasonable level of intelligence, just don't ask to join my teams. I won't be offended.

Other things to know...

I am a huge fan of KILLING stuff. So if you join my team, don't get upset when it isn't the fastest, speediest, ITF in town. If you don't like taking it slower and enjoying a good time, then don't bother joining.

I also like +4 runs. To me, the game is incredibly easy and cranking up the difficulty keeps me entertained longer. Again, if you aren't willing to take up the challenge, then don't join.

A BIG annoyance to me are the people who sign up for one of my +4 KILL ALL TFs, but then the team gets weak-kneed and wants to just "get it done." If you sign up for one of my special teams, don't turn around and be a pansy and start complaining about the time. If you signed up, then I assume you have the time to stay for however long it takes. Which, these days, +4 stuff really doesn't take that long.

Anyways, just putting this out there to disarm those who think they can ***** at me about stuff. You have been forewarned and have no excuse. Feel free to spread the word. Not my problem if people can't handle being on an awesome team.

FYI... I have no regrets about kicking people from my team(s) who I find to be too much of a drag on the team.

Eh, I don't think I've ever teamed with you, but I support what you have to say. As a frequent team leader of specialized events, it can be frustrating when people join the team and then try to take it over if they didn't pay attention to what the team was all about.

Good luck on your future runs!

Preachin' to the choir man. And the ones who need to hear it would never come to the forums.

If I ever team with you, I'm going to Leeroy Jenkins it for the LULZ.

Make a second build, unslotted except for KB and cast grant invisibility on everyone. Recall team mindlessly.

Some of these things I suppose I assume are not needed to be said. But, maybe I need to "be more clear."

And, no, my intention is not to be mean to anyone. I am just trying to educate people so that teams are much more enjoyable for all (not just the ones I lead) because I'm sure no one leading a team wants to deal with BS if they can avoid it.

Thank you for posting your global so I know how to avoid you. If it's not too much trouble, would you mind also posting a list of all your characters so I won't have to go through the tedium of looking up your global and can skip straight to the 'ignore' stage?

Oh, wait - Freedom. Nevermind.

How dare you.
You have to realise that there is a life beyond the game and things happen beyond our control like pets catching on fire.
There is no mention at all about team roles when we make our characters. The most important aspect of the character is the costume and the power choices reflect this.
When I buff or heal people they get offended so I don't.
There's plenty of foes left over at the end of the final mission for people to arrest.

Like moths to a flame...

I have successfully started forum drama. Do I qualify to be part of the "in" crowd?

Dude, we play MMOs. We aren't the "in" crowd. You should go buy some Abercrombie and work out, watch Jersey Shore, etc, if you want that.

We all know you'd buy a "I got Mapserved" T-shirt. For your mom.

Polly, reread your first post.

Actually, I'd buy an official CoH shirt that said "Lost Connection to Map Server."

Not on Freedom, no. Drama like this just paints you as an off-server player, honestly.

Your post is pretty much meant for players who don't read the forums, by and large. And, if you can't tell, it's as much use as throwing a hand grenade into a poop pile in order to kill the smell.

If you want to do something more constructive, make up a series of /macros citing your needs for everyone who're joining your team. That way, people can decide then and there if you're the paragon of wisdom or a Mussolini with the team star.

I'm being nice with this one. Leave the drama off our boards, and focus on playing the game. You got complaints, then resolve it in the game. Unless it's about me, Luna, J-Man, Trix, E-Man, or one of a dozen other forum loudmouths (and I use this definition affectionately), your complaints won't reach your intended targets by posting here.

I don't like micro managers in life, why should I like them in the game?

But I don't mind a general statement of what we are doing. I definitely would not join a +4 ITF kill all unless I was level 35 and wanted to hit 50 in the next 2 hours.

Have fun.

@Damz Find me on the global channel Union Chat. One of the best "chat channels" ingame!

My firekin will happily buff anyone that needs it. Not that this happenned recently but why does a /wp tank need speed boost and a kin defender? In that time I could have three sets of firecages and a fs out. Which would you say is more beneficial. I got booted from the team for this question. I would love to team with my firekin but sadly the whole sb issue kills it for me. For the record toons such as stoners and khelds will never be short of a boost

Honestly, anyone reading anything more into this than *maybe* blowing off some steam is taking it way to seriously :P

I think my in-game reputation speaks for itself. There are times I do get cranky but I think most people who have teamed with me in some form walk away having had a lot of fun and feeling like they enjoyed being part of a good group as most of the people I team with tend to be good, competent players.

Though, the introduction of these new iTrials (BAF/Lambda) seems to have brought out a large number of the "idiot" crowd who don't listen no matter what you do. You could use every possible means to communicate with them and they still seem to find their way onto the short bus...

This.

But, your use of the pronoun "you" didn't talk about "them." So, yeah, we can read that you're assuming we're all idiots, mainly because you called us idiots.

As for your in game reputation speaking for itself, implying you aren't abrasive in-game, "You will know them by their fruits" and any other saying/colloquialism/proverb saying the same thing. "A person who isn't nice to the waiter, isn't a nice person."

I always laugh when someone says this.

There are tens of thousands of players in this game. And you've never played with more than a small fraction of them.

Ergo, the majority of players have exactly ZERO idea what your "in-game" reputation is.

Ergo, your "in-game" reputation means jack squat and may as well not even be brought up.

As such, your actions when you play with someone new, not some bogus pre-established notion you've implanted in your local clique BECOMES your reputation to these people.

You could have hundreds of people who think you're a great guy and a good player.

If you have a hissy fit on a team and make things miserable for them during your time on the team, to them, even if you're better later, you're a complete tool. If you treat them like crap because they aren't familiar with your "style" of play, you're a "richard".

Not saying this to be offensive to you or say that you ARE these things. Merely that when you act that way, that's how you're perceived.
