hate to say it but i have to agree! i discovered i had a person living with me. i must have got married during a se
rver maintenance. -
Quote:I've. Got it to s/l cap and 40% to all others. For me primary can make a difference purely based on which set bonus they accept.S/L softcap is possible. If a Regen can do it, an Electric Armor can do it.
Split the Superior Scrapper's Strike ATO set between 2 powers. It gives 5% S/L defense at 3 slots, so if you split it you can get 10% defense out of powers you normally couldn't get S/L defense out of slotting.
Primary does not matter for S/L softcapping. -
Ive been playing with this in mids and can see fantastic benefits with it ie. Power Sink for -end, good resists and self heal however I'm struggling to get it soft capped. Is it possible and also which Primary enables this to happen?

Here's my prospective brute version....basically the same as a scrapper but I like WP on brutes due to the higher HPs and regen

This is mostly subjective but ive tried:
DB/WP
KAT/WP
DM/Wp
Fire/SD
BS/SD
Fire/SR
KAT/DA
DM/INV
TW/WP
KM/SR
and the one I cannot surpass is DM/INV, great single target and with Blaze Mastery epic he has some AOE. With the combination of softcapped defense (bar psi), S/L near softcap resist, max HP, siphon life and dark comsumption with all darks to hit debuffs too Ive never been able to stay from him too long.
He has solo'd DA on +4/x8 with bosses on and can destroy AVs with ease but my one caviate is he is a very expensive build. -
Could someone have a look at my prospective build for my ss/sd brute. Im at lvl 44 now so close to that final respec but I have concerns about end use.
My goals for the build are as much AOE as possible so FootStop, Fireball and shield charge. I was thinking spring attack to open with to allow the AAOs to saturate giving me a better use of shield charge. Also with three knockdown powers in a row this should at best mitigate and worst taper the alpha strikes.
I also want to be at the incarnate softcap for melee and above normal softcaps for range and AOE. Hasten is a few secs off perma which is fine by me and I was planning on taking rebirth destiny power for oh *bleep* heal and Assault radial hybrid for more damage.
My worry is end use which I think im gonna have a problem with so I would appreciate some outside views

I've been playing about with Mids and could not get anywhere near but is it possible to softcap (45% version) on a fire/fire/pyre brute.
I don't want to farm but I think one of these could be fun with the right amount of defense. -
-
So, hybrid has been unlock for a while on my ill/dark and i just don't know how to run on it.
Im thinking assault to but my BIG question is does it work for PA (ive heard rumour it doesnt) and if it doesnt is it supposed to ie. likely to be fixed.
Secondly which side of the tree is best -
If I place a forcefeed back +rech into Phantasm will it affect my recharge
My gut says no is it right?
(and if it is do I have to reward it with pie) -
Update......
Ok, as Ive said he is now 50 has T3 Alpha, Destiny, Lore and Interface, T2 Judgement and hybrid not unlocked yet. I have also completed the Ghost Widow arc and got Mu Mastery unlocked and respeced in.
A visit to Monster Island went well and the GM went down with ease.
Dropped Ghost Widow without issue.
Solo x8 is a darn sight easier
The debuffs from spectoral terror, dark powers and fluffy make being in melee a safe place to be and I find Im using flash much more. Also Howling twilight is another control power which ive got down to a 30 second recharge and can easily double stack tar patch. To add even more control Ive added in power sink for a nice sapping effect followed by ball of lightening and then my pet Mu.
All in Ill/Dark seems to be comparable on single target and loads more fun for soloing when taking on groups. -
Quote:Well....Im at 50 with 3 Incarnates at T3 and I must sayMy main questions are :
1. Will a Ill/Dark solo a GM as easily as an Ill/Rad
2. Does having a Dark Servant make a difference
3. How much will I miss lingering radiation
Many Thanks
1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Lingering what???
It certainly seems on par with ill/rad for single target and for x8 plays much better -

Quote:Having dark consumption on a good recharge works for me. Plus the accolades helpGood, good. Any words of advice for my Invuln tanker friend? He has trouble with the endurance drains and the defense debuffs mostly. He complains about the psionic damage, but I've never seen it, y'know, actually hurt him. He uses Barrier for the defense debuffs, but doesn't really have a counter for the endurance drains. He could probably go with Cardiac Core, but I think he's using Spiritual, though I could be wrong. I can probably just work out a build for him that's more than sustainable on endurance, and hope that's enough to handle it, but I don't know if it will be.

Quote:Ive rolled one just for this reason, I'm cautious with new toons now, the number ive got to relatively high levels and then deleted is not funnyYou should consider your heart in these matters from time to time, not just the logic.
I love both Rad and Dark. My first characters to make it into the 20s were an Ill/Rad Controller and a Dark/Elec Defender. Loved them both, but really wanted to Play Ill/Dark not only for concept, but because I felt the combination was perfect. Finally after 8 years of waiting, Ill/Dark has arrived. I say go Ill/Dark because of the fact that you have not done that yet. If you run an Ill/Rad, you are already familiar with the character. It will be like reading your favorite book for the second time. Sure it will be good, but you know how the story ends. -
Quote:It can solo the new incarnate solo content at +4/x8 with easeInvulnerability is pretty nice, and Dark Melee/Invulnerability is amazing, at least in normal content. I haven't paid much attention to the forums recently, and don't know how it does against incarnate content. I worry about all the psionic and energy damage, for instance, when you can't really incarnate soft cap on a Scrapper. I bet it's fine, though.

This debate is raging as much here as in my head !
Pros of Dark over Rad
Tar Patch - Not a toggle
Wont cause an anchor to run aimlessly round the mission map
Fade - Helps out with just in case defense
Howling T - Not only - regen but a stun too
Fluffy - Always nice to have
Stuns will not knock off toggles
Tar Patch & Howling T should make solo x8 easier and quicker
Cons
No AM making perma PA more difficult
LR is on a faster recharge
RA requires no hit check however heals for less
Howling T will not be perma
At the moment Im considering investing time into an ill/dark, at the moment....... -
Some background, I'm looking at moving some of my characters to Virtue from Freedom and I am thinking about running a concept only policy for everything based on my main character.
I have an Ill/Rad whom I adore but I was considering re-rolling him on virtue to fit the new concept ideals.
When I look at my current build I don't use many of the rad powerset so I was wondering on a performance basis how they compare.
My main questions are :
1. Will a Ill/Dark solo a GM as easily as an Ill/Rad
2. Does having a Dark Servant make a difference
3. How much will I miss lingering radiation
Many Thanks -
Although it seems many replies ago I am the op. I only wanted to know so I could factor it into my play. Ie didn't want to waste effort buffing pets if there was no point. note I deliberately avoided mentioning solo or teams. What else has gone on in the thread is nuts but quite entertaining to read. Forgive the poor typing and English but me and smartphones don't get on. Hmmmmm would Ts buff my typing speed?
-
Does any portion of the regen and dam buff affect a pet if temporal selection is cast on them. I'm already sure the +rechg doesn't.
-
I don't know why but I cannot install the map pack for i22. I assume I am installing it to the wrong place as it doesn't come with a pre-filled option anymore.
HELP!!!! -
Started it on +3 x5, got bored so ramped it up to +4 x8. A few hair raising moments in the last coupla missions but my dm/inv/blaze scrappy had a blast.
