EA and the softcap

Ive been playing with this in mids and can see fantastic benefits with it ie. Power Sink for -end, good resists and self heal however I'm struggling to get it soft capped. Is it possible and also which Primary enables this to happen?

Your should..should..be able to softcap it to most things with almost any primary. Which are you thinking of?

Took me a minute to figure out you were talking about Electric Armor. EA usually refers to Energy Aura; Electric is usually abbreviated to Elec or ElA.

It is possible to get good or even softcapped defense with /Elec, although usually only to one or two types/positions. But that's fine, because the high resists mean you don't need to be softcapped to everything to survive pretty well. Building for S/L defense is particularly effective, since so many attacks have an S/L component. Another option is to build for moderate defense, and then use purple inspirations or Shadow Meld to softcap when needed.

S/L softcap is possible. If a Regen can do it, an Electric Armor can do it.

Split the Superior Scrapper's Strike ATO set between 2 powers. It gives 5% S/L defense at 3 slots, so if you split it you can get 10% defense out of powers you normally couldn't get S/L defense out of slotting.

Primary does not matter for S/L softcapping.

If you're willing to throw enough inf into it as well as use slotting you wouldn't normally have, I'd put my money on any primary set being able to get ElA to the S/L soft cap. Using the scrapper ATO set (catalyzed and split into two if you want), five sets of Kinetic Combat, Weave, Maneuvers, Combat Jumping, and the +3% def unique(s) will get you to a good start. It might require four slotting stuff like Boxing/Kick and Brawl, but you can't have the good stuff for free.

Before getting your build done, though, I would plan it with I24 in mind. I did that with my TW/Elec brute and he will have a few points under capped S/L resistance (87% IIRC) as well as being one luck away from the soft cap to S/L/E/NE def. It was a bunch of work going manually through all the changed set bonuses on the beta server, I have to admit...
