Well I have not been in the game from about 2 days after the anouncment of the servers going dark.

And I want to say thanks to NcSoft or who ever decided to shut it down. I am so glad to have my 30+ hours a week back and actualy enjoying the out doors again.

My 8 years here has been fun but you know what real life is better LOL

You do both realise that there are other states of existance other than "All" or "Nothing", right?

Considering there is 168 hours in a week and the OP only mentions about 30, I'd guess he's well aware of that, yes.

Sign me up as yet another person ultimately glad to see the crack dealer gone from the neighborhood - and while I was initially sorry for people who truly liked the game, the amount of venom spewed by forum goers cured what little compassion I might have. So, win/win.

I'm sorry to see the game go, especially without any real warning that it was going to happen. But oddly it is sort of liberating that it's coming to an end. This was the first MMO that really "hooked" me and I did enjoy many good times with it over the last 8.5 years.

Considering how much time I spent on CoH I'm probably not going to seriously jump into another MMO anytime soon. Who knows, maybe in a few years somebody will finally make a -real- replacement for this game - as far as I'm concerned games like CO simply don't cut it. *shrugs*

No, no, no. When you 'fall off the horse', you have to get right back on!

This is close to my own sentiments about the ordeal. I have not been here as long, only 2 years. I am torn between the fact that I will seriously miss this game and the fact that a major distraction in my life is going away. Sad it is leaving, but at the same time a little glad to see it go. I'd have to say on average I spend much more than 30 hours a week in the game and there have only been a handful of days in 2 years that I have not been on.

Quite honestly, I know there are things I should have been doing instead, but did not care. Which is how all good addictions work.

This is the only MMO I have ever played and until it came along, and I became addicted, I didn't know I was missing anything. I imagine I will go through a bit of withdrawal depression in December...

Yes, I will be on every day until the lights go out anyway.

I'm all for the sentiment behind the idea of "getting back on the horse". The problem is that game-wise the only things left to ride are goats, raccoons, and weasels. There really isn't a good game out there that's equivalent to the "horse" that was CoH.

Haha Excellently expressed.

As for the sentiment of this thread, first, I take everything with a grain of humor (not salt)... Also, I completely understand the sentiment.
Some perspective of life and time spent on pastimes is a tremendously great thing. Some people, sometimes, need bigger kicks in the pants to find/recapture such perspective and I can certainly understand this scenario offering that opportunity, hehe.

As many in-game friends and SGmates may attest, my playtime became (and has remained) severely limited, compared to a few years ago. And that's because I refocused and rescheduled much of my time spent on such things with my life. That should not read as some looking-down-my-nose uppity BS about playing this (or any) game. It's just that I have a lot of unfinished business and time-draining endeavors that are of great importance to me and it severely impacts when - and how long - I'm logged into this game.

Ramble-In-Progress... Feck, that's one of the greatest things about this game in particular - it is so friggin' casual friendly and appealing to a bloke like me that just wants to hop in for 20 minutes before I have to hop off again and do a bit more living, hehe.

So, I understand the sentiment of this thread, but I also find that - if/when you want another game to play while remaining in your new found balance of healthy/happy time and good living... this game was a fandiddlytastic option for such casual gaming that your future self may like to have.

Exactly this. I've looked at what else is out there and found everything else to be poor facsimiles.
