not bad.

Been meaning to discuss this as well.

Sat through the first five and comments below. Warning: Spoilers about.

So far, it's not bad. Solid action and pacing, but the set up... WTF??!

Let me get this right... Just cause the X-Men get caught up in a fight similar to the ending of X3, save for the fact Jean apparently sacs herself (or is forced, hard to say), the Prof closes the Institute? Makes no bloody sense at all. And with Scott brooding, I had the feeling we were gonna see another Wolvie & the X-Men here. Though who knows, we still might.

The reason to head to Japan is ok and the recall of the core team has their moments. This version of the U-Men seems nastier than the Comic roots, but I haven't been much of a Comics reader in the time frame these guys are even mentioned. And Ms. Frost added to the mix, Oh joy...

The Secondary Mutation syndrome is a interesting twist as well. Let's just hope there is a good pay off with it.

I also don't know who needs a kick in the head more: Scott or Armor. I mean Armor I can kind of understand, but let's hope she doesn't flip-flop into the whiney brat every other fight.

Otherwise:
Like the Open and End Credits. Just wonderful to view.
Jean's Phoenix Costume Design. A nice take on the Classic design.
The BGM is good too.

Oh here's the Tropes page for it as well...

Thank you for the time...

Watching episode 2 now.
the U-Men attack with an airborne vehicle. And Cyclops spins his motorcycle and fires mini-missles?! Oh, and lasers too. Um....he's a long ranged weapon himself. He doesn't need missles or lasers! Just open the visor and the threat is gone. But this is Japan, so I guess they had to get the mecha-esque stuff jammed into a long ranged mutant's machinery.

The X-Men are known to be some of few powered individuals who learned that you shouldn't rely on your powers all the time.....especially considering how easy it seems to be able to nullify mutant powers.

Yea...
Remembering where this is being produced at was about the only reason I didn't mention it in my comments. Of course we get to see Scott deal with a number of them the old-fashioned way in # 3, so it's all good...

Thank you for the time...

intro looked interesting, but something seemed off on wolverines charector design. Cant put my finger on it. Thankfully since this is japan and depending on when its shown over there we might actually see wolverine ripping something to shreds thats NOT just a couple tin can bots the writers throw in so wolvie looks like he not a idiot.....like the american woverine and the xmen.

Now we aren't ready quite yet to let the catgirls out of the bag.... (quote from ex libris)

For me it was the two locks of hair that fall into his face, that Japan seems to love, even when they serve absoltutely no purpose. Everything else looked fine to me.

Where have I seen this style of anime before? Anybody?

I'm not a fine connoisseur of anime character design. Maybe Witchblade?

This show is produced by Madhouse so maybe it's in a styling of one of their other recent series?

I think the name of the animation studio is Madhouse. The style that's used in X-Men looks similar to Yutaka Minowa who I think did designs for the Highlander anime and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust.

G4tv is going to be showing this series later in the year. After Iron Man and Wolverine (of which quite a few around here said weren't very good) appear in July / August. They're also suppossed to show the Blade series.

Each will have a 12 ep. arc. Based on what I've seen in the linked eps (I didn't want to watch them all) I'll be definitely waiting for them to air. I still plan on viewing the Iron Man and Wolverine shows though.

Watched all 5, I like what I see so far. Funny that the Anime got right in the first 5 minutes what X3 couldn't get right the whole movie.

It's by Madhouse, who have done a ton of other animated works including some of the Hellsing Ultimate series.

I see myself as witty, urbane, highly talented, hugely successful with a keen sense of style. Plus of course my own special brand of modesty.

I watched the first episode today (yesterday, whatever). Found a stream source with subtitles off of Bing.

Pretty cool. Beast's face is a little odd but I can't say what's bothering me about it.

At least in this world the general population isn't totally freaked by mutants (pirate scene with Storm).

I can see that

Except Halle Berry didn't get breast enlargement surgery or strapped a couple of large water balloons to her chest (TVTropes: Most Common Superpower). Other than that sure. I think even Logan is taller.

They're just staying faithful to the 90s version ;p

I found in the comics Logan always seemed to go from short to tall to short to tall.

He's 5ft 3in tall, but you'll see him looking everyone taller than him straight in the eye, then the next thing you know, he's looking up at Scott threatening him, then it' right back to them looking about the same height.

Either artists are lazy, bad at judging height, or just wish Logan was taller.
