What were the devs thinking with these discounted slots and transfers ??

This would be "NCSoft" or "Marketing," not the devs, to be really nitpicky. I may grouse at them for other things, but this would be like blaming the janitor for your eggs being undercooked.
About the only people related here *might* be Beastyle or Avatea, and that's just because they're Community vs Development.

I see an anouncement about 50% off slots that ends on the 11th and has nothing to do with the server merge. Where's the announcement about the transfers?
Law my bad there were no free transfers.. They were 50% off.. I changed that in my original post.

I was going to say... if there were free server transfers that's news to me, and I'm ticked off that I missed it somehow. I was silly and didn't do all the transfers I wanted at the time of Going Rogue, even though I had the time to. 
Still, I don't think the news about the sale was strong enough or long enough... I actually learned about it on Gamespy... and I think the only sale announcement we've had on the forums was for character slots, not some of the costume packs. It certainly was not long enough, as I was debating getting the Mac Pack for $5, but when I looked again two days later, the deal was gone... a sale for only a few days isn't enough, I would say. I know regular stores have sales that short, but an MMO is a little different than a standard store or website (and certainly has less frequent sales).

There haven't been any special transfer offers yet.
The discounted slots are still available and we will have a few hours to buy new slots after the merge.

Every player is aware of the forums, either by frequent use, just reading them, or indirectly when they log in. We've been given a tool, and it's up to use to use it or not. It's also up to each player to keep their contact information up to date if they want announcements sent in that fashion.
If a player says "I didn't know X" and then follows up with "I don't read the forums," telling them to read the forums more is a perfectly valid response.
Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.

But I will say that I'm glad to hear that the OP is privy to NCSofts confidential marketing decisions and can say without a doubt that he knows for certain that marketing has no special plans to go along with the merging of the server list, and they just aren't keeping it for a surprise.

The irony is, I most likely wouldn't have bought transfers had I known about them. My statement that the communication relating to the sale could have been better is one that I'm more than willing to stand behind, given the amount of time I spend on the forums and the fact that I still managed to miss mention of it.
You can feel free to paste together as many long, link-laden, graphically-enhanced responses as you like, if doing so makes you feel good about yourself. I don't find the tone or attitude conveyed all that constructive, but I'm guessing that wasn't your goal.

The reality is that with all the tools availabe a good number of people missed it and its still could have been handled better.. Also the amount of time it was available could have bee longer and people should have been allowed to BOTH purchase slots AND do trasnfers at a discount at the same time.

(And Ironblade can attest that I have agreed with him that their email system sucks for the players that do choose to use it.
)Not using them is a personal choice and the result is that they are willfully ignorant of current events affecting the game. So when they miss out they have no one to blame but themsleves. Being responsible for your own choices is a wonderful thing, but if it makes you feel better to paint me as the bad guy for telling it like it is, be my guest. It won't stop me from enjoying the game and taking advantage of any ongoing and future sales and events.

If your goal is to make money, tell your subscribers the easiest way possible. In game.
Don't make them work for it.
Serious I have several issues with this whole thing, and I will admit upfront that some of it is personal and probably doesnt affect anyone else but I have to say something.

I also have an issue that the announcement was at the end of several other highly visible announcements It should have had a more major announcement.
