Remove the delay from doors

Hospital doors, elevator doors, mission doors.
These things drive me nuts.
I don't need to see myself walk through a door, I know it happened.
It takes like one-hundred-and-eleventy-one minutes for the animation to play, and I want to go kill the guys who made me faceplant!

Thanks.

Allow us to click on the Tram doors if they are open.

Some stations, if the doors are open you can't click on them unless the doors close and then you can choose which destination to go to. So in essence, you have to wait for the next train to get where you’re going otherwise, you have to stand there with the doors wide open and can’t get in. I think some elevator doors do the same thing.

Very Annoying.

Allow me to add my perfectly serious rant, then: Can we please fix the "false click" bug already? It's only been seven years and all. Let me explain.

Years ago, when you clicked on a door, you had a chance to get stuck there, unable to do anything while your mouse pointer turned into an hourglass. This held you in place for 10 seconds during which you could be attacked and killed and when it was over, you didn't actually enter the door, you just regained control of your character. You then had to try to click again and run the risk of the same wait happening a second time.

The "fix" the developers applied was to shorten the 10-second wait time down to nothing, but what this left us with was the very common instance where you click a door, your cursor flickers and nothing happens. You then have to click the door again and very often your cursor will flicker again and nothing will happen. Again. It's not rare that I have to click on doors three or four times just to enter a store.

I'd like to see doors respond to being clicked the first time.

Ok, but at least lets add the hand back so that I can click on doors that are open.

It's rather frustrating for a teammate to go through a door first, and then I cannot walk through the OPEN DOOR. Instead, I have to wait for the door to close, and then click on it. Also, I have to do it immediately or my other teammates that clicked on it will cause the door to open and only allow me to look inside but not partake (well not really, but that's what it feels like...)

You know, I didn't realize how much doors frustrate me in this game until now... thanks for making this thread, jeez :P

I've always thought that the resources used on door animations could be better used elsewhere.

After 7 years of playing I just repeatedly click doors (especially hospital doors, not sure why they are the worst) until I get through.
It has always been a pain.

My problems come from after the entering the door to the loading of the next one. It just takes forever(1-5 mins). Players have run down the map and cleared half the map before I come on.

Actually, back in beta, that was they way it was originally designed. You could click on the tram door at anytime - they never explained why they took that ability away.

At some point there was a bug where the detection on it broke to the point where it was a very slim margin of time where you could click the tram doors. They fixed it, and the patch notes claimed you could now click at any time, but either that was only true for about a week before breaking/changing again or it never worked as advertised.

I'd say the elevators in Lambda are one of the big (as big as this issue really is) examples of this problem at the moment.

On a different but similar note, does anyone else have the problem where you go through a door, then have to wait anywhere from 10 seconds to a full minute before the rest of the zone loads? This often happens to me, and I'm left with a black screen for what seems like forever. I can jump around and move, and when the black goes away, my character has moved.

Ack, this. I hate this. Waiting around for trains, clicking on the Vanguard helicopter and standing there for 10 seconds like a goof, waiting for the doors on the ships and the castle gate in the ITF and the elevators in Lambda, and so on and so on.

I also hate when I click on elevator doors in missions (usually there or in the other doors in tech-based lab missions) and the cursor changed on my side acting like it opened the door but nope...didn't open it.

I'm so used to just rapidly left-clicking on the doors till they open...usually takes 3 or so times before it actually opens. It's especially bad when trying to 'speed' through things/missions.

Oh and yes, I also do no like the whole "wait 10 seconds" while standing at the helicopter...

I'd like to be able to click on and enter doors when they're open.

Please fix this.

If I remember right, they did 'fix' this sometime back.. But it introduced a nasty bug as a side effect, so they reverted the change.

Not 100% sure on that though, but I do seem to vaguely remember something like that happening.

While I'm sure it is packet loss, the game should have ways to account for that. It accounts for lost packets in other areas, like reward messages and combat spam. Though, on the other hand, the same "failed click" problem that happens with doors also happens with power activations, where you'll trigger a power, the interface will tell you it's queued up for activation... And then nothing. I assume because my command packet got lost.

Can't we have some kind of command response system to where if the client issues a command to the server and receives no response in, say, twice the current ping time, the command is automatically re-issued? Or would that create more problems?

You actually CAN click on an open tram door even today, but there's a catch - NOT the first time you see it open after the tram loads on your client. If the tram door is open when you first arrive, you can't click on it. After it closes and then opens again, you CAN click on it then, but by that point it's completely pointless. I'm not sure why that is, but that's how I've seen it working.

As to why we can't click on an open door - I assume because we can only click on the door itself, not the space inside the door frame, so when the door opens, the click box goes away with it and only returns when the door closes again.

---

Speaking of "doors," can we fix the teleport gates in Oranbega so they're not completely random, please? There's at least one Oranbegan instances where you go through teleport gates by clicking on them, as opposed to by walking through them, and the gates there are completely accurate. So why are these left to split teams and send you all over the map? Even LodeRunner had more accurate teleporters than that.

Just fyi, if you click the edges of the elevators in the 2nd phase of the Lambda trial, you can avoid having to wait. The trick is finding the sweet spot where you can click.

Some people may not know this so I'll post it. Inside missions if a door doesn't open after the second try just hold w and you will be tp'd through it (same as if you want to get past a group of pets). (Doesn't apply to zoning).

I get this occasionally, lag issue I think.

This only happens if you logged out inside a building and shut down the client last time. Next time you load the game up, it will only load what's inside the building, so when you step outside, you'll have to load the rest of the zone. The game have some sort of strange priority algorithm that only loads a combination of things around you and things that you're looking at in memory. I say this because I've had instances where the game will load the same one skyscraper in memory over and over again each time I turn around to look at it.

Ok yeah. I have also got it after hosping and crafting.
