And so we say farewell to a number of long-standing names. Like mine. I've used Gideon since EU launch, and continued when we got totalcat. It breaks my heart to have to giv it up because I'm in the UK. But these things are sent to try us. Not sure what my new global will be, although AwesomeHat McCoolCane has been suggested (thanks Zortel )

And for all those global names lost in this madness, I offer this comfort.


Debt shall not weary them, nor the devs condemn.
At the going down of the server, and in the morning,

The times listed are downtimes? So, basically, the EU is getting no in-game access at all on May 10th? The servers will be down from midday to midnight? I'm hoping I'm reading that wrong. It doesn't actually say 'downtime.'

Avatea, could you find out if affected European players will ever get the chance to rename their game accounts, as quite obviously, none of us want to be afflicted with the EU in front of our account names? I'm pretty sure by this point, we've given up on keeping our names if they conflict (even with US trial accounts of all things), but at the least allow us the chance of renaming it.

Yeah is may 10th classed as a 12 hour downtime or just the window when it'll go live?

Was just wondering that myself, actually. If so, that's yet another blow against the EU players as we lose the servers right across our busiest times and I have to log in after midnight to sort out my global clash

That's how I reach such a great heigh to look down on the cel-shaded subhumans below me - but with pity and sadness, not hatred and contempt

A): personally I don't have outlines on... ever. No more cell-shaded than ToR (and we all know you'll be playing that!).

b): You might want to look up what cell-shaded is over 'stylised realism' art style. For cell-shaded see Zelda.

c): Theres a 't' in 'height' and an 'h' in 'sub-human'.

d): Shoo! - SHOO!, scram!, go-on!,... SHOO !.

There's one "l" in cel-shading - although I can undertsand the urge to make the word seem closer to "hell"

Will I also need to prepend an EU to my forum login? As it is tied to my player account and all.

Since I don't think there's really a difference any more, I suspect you'll be logging on with whatever you have. There'll have to be client update for the merge anyway (updating the mask for which servers are visible, perhaps code as well), and the free activation period starts after the merge.

If you wanted to log in to the NA side before the merge, you'd need a US client to see the US servers.

Goodbye to my global after all these years. I can't say it's any shock at all that it's the Europeans forced to choose a new name. Oh well.

Being a third shift worker, I am very excited, because hopefully the time differences will increase the number of people on when I am. Oh, by the way, Union, and Defiant folks..in advance..I wish to apologize for all gross misuse of the Queen's English, I will be committing, including but not limited to the following : misspelling of the word Colour, armour, mispronouncing the word Regina, and saying soccer, instead of football.
