Seriously, The Cut Scenes

My computer takes so long to load that the League is often half way, or completely done with taking out Warworks! If it weren't for the BAF cut scene think of all the threads and iXP I'd be missing. And what about my chances for a Rare or Very Rare? And when I disconnect upon zoning (which is about half the time) it gives me a chance to try again without missing too much of the action.

Everyone that suffers from Cut Scene Furor, remember you are suffering for those that still use Commodore 64s to game. You're all saints in my book.
This is why I don't mind the cutscene. If it wasn't there the slow transition folks would miss out on the entire first phase. I have yet to be in a trial where, even if the leader asks everyone to wait for everyone to arrive, someone doesn't go immediately for the door and opens it.

Of course after a few BAF's I was grateful they did and haven't had any leaders ask us to wait lately. I think everyone knows now that the length of the cutscene is more than long enough for even the slowest to get in.

This suggestion, including bikini, is pure win.

How about we have Levantera wearing what she's wearing in the RWZ to do the briefing. A briefing is kinda pointless when half the people you're talking to are paying attention to something else.

I went back and looked in Nova Praetoria and he has it there as well. It's weird because it looks like someone just strapped it on him at the last second.

Nope. The reward system doesn't work that way. Once you reach a minimum participation level that lets you avoid the '10 thread consolation' reward table, it is RANDOM.

Let me be perfectly clear: your participation has ZERO IMPACT on whether you get a Common or a Very Rare. Baryonyx made a detailed post explaining this. Now, there is currently a BUG that makes Uncommons drop too often but, again, your degree of participation is not affecting whether you get to pick from Common, Uncommon, Rare or Very Rare.

Mother Mayhem: I am just -so- pleased with the success of this project, and as you know, if Mother is pleased, you know that our dear Emperor is pleased as well.
Mother Mayhem: Our little runaways have had -so- much to tell me, so many -interesting- things. They've proven their devotion to their Mother with this information.
Mother Mayhem: They have even told me where to find the other children who've run away, so they can be returned to their Mother's loving embrace.
Mother Mayhem: Those little -rats- in the Resistance won't be able to hurt Mother's children now, after all the hard work our little dears have done. Now... be good and tell Mother, when will we be ready to deliver our next little -present- to those -vermin-?!
Nightstar: We have been closely observing the subjects, and we estimate that they will be ready within the next day, Praetor Tilman.
Siege: We have developed a plan for the release of the subjects that we believe you will appreciate, Praetor.
Siege: Tomorrow evening, the B.A.F. will suffer an 'attack' by the Resistance and Primal forces. In the attack, the facility's security will be shut down and the subjects will escape.
Nightstar: When this happens, we can immediately begin to sway the public's opinion in our favor, as we will have means of controlling the subjects.
Nightstar: Some of the subjects will go berserk at our command. We will easily locate them, and we will have an opportunity to stop them and save the day.
Siege: Thus, the Resistance and the Primals will be blamed for releasing terrorists into the city. We, however, will gain the grace of the populace for taking control of the situation.
Siege: Better still, some subjects will remain sleeper agents, missed in the chaos. They will be free to infiltrate the Resistance and turn them to our side from within.
Mother Mayhem: Wonderful. See that you send all of your precious work to Mother's archives.
Mother Mayhem: There are just -so- many things we have planned! My children will soon see just how much -love- their Mother has for them.
Mother Mayhem: I will leave the next phase in your capable hands. I know that your love for Mother means that -you- -will- -not- -fail- -me-!

I've amused myself to no end once I've discovered that you can use your battle cry during cutscenes. Considering all the cutscenes out there that I can potentially dialog-bomb, I've set my battle cry for this express purpose.

That battle cry?

...in my pants.

It works at least once in just about every cutscene.

I have to admit that by the third run, I started commenting on the scene in league chat. By the fifth run I was MSTing it to myself as it played:

Mother Mayhem: They have even told me where to find the other children who've run away, so they can be returned to their Mother's loving embrace.

Nightstar: And an ample embrace it is.

Siege: I'll be in my docking port.

I think the most accurate interjection would be "What? Again?"

Weird question: If characters can only get incarnate abilities from trials, and in canon the trials only supposedly happen one time, how can a character who is already an incarnate show up on a trial? Do our characters know they can only get incarnate abilities from trials?

For this reason I'd be much happier with a cutscene that went like this: "Siege and Nightstar are here, and for some reason, you have to fight them." It would actually make more sense, and plausibly happen more than once.

It's not the cutscenes I dislike... it's the crotch shots.

LGTF's Rikti crotch shot: Not funny. BAF's Nightstar crotch shot: Even less funny.

I think it's meant to be a "dramatic angle," with the AV looming over you. Also known as a Blaster's Eye View. I never really noticed in the LGTF, but Nightstar's "pants" just look too uncomfortable not to notice.

Of course the real issue is the hardcore nudity that this angle highlights. Won't somebody please think of the children?

I just imagine Mother Mayhem talking like William Shatner.. Since she already has the awkward pauses.

Makes for some good chuckles.

They don't only happen one time, though. Sieges arrival speech after the escapee phase is basically him calling the league idiots if they think they'd release all of their mindwashed subjects in one go. Now, considering how badly their plan is failing at this point, the fact that they keep trying may be an issue, but the assault itself isn't a one time event.

Nightstar:
Yeah, yeah, pleased. Can we move this along: I have a manicure at three.

Siege: Is it ok if I just stay dead this time? I want to run an ITF in an hour.

Mother Mayhem: If I have to wear this f-ing thing twenty-three hours a day, the least you twits could do is pretend you give a crap. Jesus this itches. Sometimes I imagine Mother Mayhem sounding like Gloria Gaynor singing her dialog:

Mother Mayhem: First I was pleased, the project stupefied...
Mother Mayhem: Kept seeing more of my children here by my side
Mother Mayhem: I spent so many nights correcting where they went wrong
Mother Mayhem: I made them strong
Mother Mayhem: And now their ready to move on
Mother Mayhem: And so those rats
Mother Mayhem: in their resistance base
Mother Mayhem: When will the children run amok and wreck their plans
Mother Mayhem: and shoot them in the face?

I have Lambda handy:

Marauder:
It's go time!
Marauder: These grunts must think they've got what it takes to bring down the Big Dog!?

We are ready for deployment on your command, Praetor White!
Well, then what are you waiting for?! Let's light 'em up!
Yes sir! Engaging the teleportation beacons now! Estimated time until reinforcements arrive is 30 seconds!

Marauder: Good stuff. Now let's see if this serum from Praetor Berry is all he said it was.
Marauder: Raaaaarrrr! Yeah! That's what I was hopin' for! These punks won't know what hit 'em.

We're online sir! Deployment begins now!

Marauder: Get those punks out here then! No one comes into my house and lives to tell about it! Let's do this!

I have Sutter and Kal, but I'll need to dig them up because they are not in my trial excerpts. Should have them tonight after I get home.

PS: I think Marauder should just come out and call himself the "Main Man" already. "No buncha two week old Incarnettes gonna mess wit' the Main Man!" Its not like I'm the only one thinking it.

Plus, I think Siege should sound like ED-209:

Siege: Put down your weapons. You have twenty seconds to comply. You are in violation of penal code 6-14 Section 5 regarding the use of super powers against praetorian property. You now have 10 seconds to comply. Five... Four... Three... Two... One. I am now authorized to use physical force.

And then he should Full Auto everyone.

I'm never going to be able to listen to Marauder again without him sounding like Randy Savage. Which makes the start of Praetorian characters really weird.

Of course, I also imagine the Well of the Furies sounding like Tony Jay from Legacy of Kain...

While the trial/TF/SF/whatever is forming i tend to write custom chat binds to use during the cut scenes.

BAF: "say Yeah, yeah, huge tracts of land. Hard to overlook them. Still, the robotic camel toe is just creepy."

ITF: "say Just wait, once the fight gets going Rommy makes it all about real estate. 'Your lands are mine!' Blah blah blah..."

And so on, depending on my mood.

My default bind: "say Cutscenes are nature's way of saying you're about to get your *** kicked."
