Incarnate Rare and Very Rare components

So apparently some people are not getting any Rare or Very Rare components from the Incarnate trials. They have piles of Uncommons and Threads, but they balk at the price tag. A hundred million? *Four* hundred million? Surely the only way to get that kind of money is to either farm until your eyes bleed, or pay a RTMer!

If you guys are trying to burn up hundreds of billions of Inf on Prestige, surely you don't mind dropping a bil or two on someone who promises to flush it down the Component sink? You could require screenshots to prove they will really use it up on Components and not put it right back on the market.

(Personally, I'm good, I have a couple billion between my 50s, and I can always run some Tips and gather up Hero Merits for more.)

Yeah right.

I have the money, but I don't have the interest in spending it on the Incarnate system Insult.

You're suggesting that the fanbase pay Inf to players who have been dissed by the Trial RNG rather than asking the Devs to fix the drop rate?

I predict thread implosion by Friday.

Burning inf by helping players out and asking the devs to "fix the drop rate" aren't mutually exclusive things. Stop being that dense. Stop it!

How dare you insult the "rich" people in this game by asking them to do something that might be useful with their influence? Then they wouldn't have something to gloat about like "see how much inf I burned"???

The "rich" people in this game are like Mr. Pewterschmidt and you're like Peter Griffin asking him for some help...not gonna happen.

I've seen regular posters on here put up standing offers to donate cash to people with no questions asked. The more successful marketeers in this game have played with a lot of ways to dispose of their excess cash, and philanthropy is among the ones that have happened.

Edit: That said, I can't see this as a great charity issue, since complaining that you can't afford a T4 incarnate slot is like complaining that you couldn't afford the package for your Porsche that gives it a spoiler. The distribution mechanics are mysterious and seem unfair and skewed, but they're not really must-have items.

Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.

But its so much more fun to laugh at people that spent years building up their supergroup.

Was just a thought. My first month in City of Heroes (just before Issue 5), I was gifted something like 50 million inf (a dizzing sum to me at the time) by a more senior player. It's kind of left a lasting impression on me.

The Component creation is pretty obviously an inf sink, but it doesn't seem like it's quite in the right place to catch the inf that's amassed in the game. Well, maybe eventually the tweaks to the drop tables will make it a non-issue.

I don't mind giving the friends I regularly play with big lumps of cash to help with this kind of thing (or with their builds in general), but I don't offer it to just everybody who plays the game. There's too many of them.

It's even more fun to laugh at people who spam random tells to people in lowbie zones trying to recruit more prestige farmers for their supergroup.

I've already given about 6B so far away to people who were in my groups for BAF or Lambda and all they needed to make the T3 or T4 was inf. I didnt require screenshots or whatever and didn't announce this openly but as people complained just offered them the inf. I'm sure my groups will now be flooded with people who are looking for the inf and thats ok too within reason.

The current set-up is designed to be an inf sink for sure. But I don't want to be the only one drained of some inf so I won't give my entire fortune away to help people.

It should be in EXACTLY the right place- where the people grinding high level content hang out. The only better place for it is where the Marketeers hang out.

As far as the lack of inf: It's an interesting idea. I'm trying to figure out how to do this without running into the "telemarketer problem" where people get bothered on their own time. Maybe a thread here where people post their requests and people with money PM them in game to donate?

I'm also trying to figure out if the people who need the inf are worth lecturing (err, "educating"); after all, one H/V Merit is 60-100 million inf, so if they took a break from BAF's to do one or two Sister Psyche's (or even a couple ITFs) they should be good on inf.

Man, I burnt SO much influence. I am just filthy rich and wasteful. Here. Lemme show off a little.

Here's a partial list of people that I helped with their bases in the last year or two, by burning influence. 23x helped a few of these people also.

The ol' "teach a man to fish" route. I don't believe most players understand how easy it is to get Hero Merits, nor how to maximize their value.

I agree here. I do not think that feature was advertised enough with GR. So many folks are clueless about even the base where you cash in the merits.

I don't consider myself an "ebil marketeer" by any stretch of the imagination. I don't flip items for profit and certainly don't try to corner any markets or anything like that. All I use the market for is to buy recipes and salvage so that I can sell crafted IOs back to the market.

But while I don't do anything to become super-rich in this game I've easily made well over 25 billion INF in the last year or so doing some very causal "spend-10-minutes-a-day" type market crafting. I don't even mess around with H/V merits which would probably make my making INF even quicker. Basically it's very easy to amass far more INF than you ever need so it's hard to have that much sympathy for long time players in this area.

The "teach a man to fish" idea is an admirable one, but seriously the guides are already out there.
I think people just need to be more willing to solve these supposed problems on their own.

I would guess that most people actively dislike using the market, and consider it one of their MMO chores. They're going to want to limit that time, and I don't mean to an hour a week, I mean to a quick dump of their drops before getting back to other parts of the game. It's a game, so I don't begrudge them that. People like what they like, and dislike what they dislike, and we're all different. But there are other ways to get a whole lot of influence, and even if most of them take more time (say, random missioning), surely ONE of them is something they enjoy doing, or they wouldn't be playing an MMO. Then it's just a time investment, and MMOs are time sinks. And hopefully, if the drop problems people are having is actually a bug, it'll get fixed soon.

Heh. Well, they won't likely look for it on the market forum, but it would be a nice thing to get into people's hands.

Sure. There are many, many players that prefer to spend hours grinding farms even when they're told repeatedly they could make more inf with less time invested via the market. For them, a guide that says "run your alignment missions, get your hero merit, cash it in for one of these specific recipes, list that recipe on the market, profit" would be a winner.

TBH, I really don't absolutely "enjoy" the marketeering I've done in this game. To me it was always a means to an end. About a year ago I decided I wanted to finish Purple/PvP IO'ing some of my builds and decided the least painful way to do it was via low-effort crafting spread over months. I've never been one to "gold farm" so it was a solution that fit the amount of effort I wanted to put into it.

The side effect of that now is that long after I finished getting all the IOs I needed for my builds I now have many of billions of INF left over - more than enough to buy a few Rare or Very Rare Incarnate components as necessary.

As always YMMV. I suppose I just wish more people would explore the options available to them rather than just jumping to the "I need rich players to give me some of their unwanted INF" as a solution to this situation. *shrugs*

Ya know, just a random thought related both to the OP and the purpose of the forum here. If rare and very rare incarnate components were tradeable, the whole issue of a huge disparity in drop rate just wouldn't matter all that much, would it? The market would efficiently and quickly seek the proper price level, and voila! - problem solved.

I understand how to do it and used it to generate 2 Glad Uniques and a couple extra billion in sales.

I no longer want to do it because it has become a boring chore grinding out the same handful of missions repeatedly.
