Lore Warwork Victoria pet...

...I love you.

Not in a way that would disgust many though.

You're just awesome that's all and I think you need to be told this sometimes.

There you are, getting criticals for over 1000 damage and nobody says 'thank you' for one shotting +3 minions most of the time. Well thank you for basically being a Scrapper with even more ridiculous damage, yes you come and go and aren't as reliable as a real Scrapper but you're there when it matters to me.

Seriously though having now spent some time with the Victoria boss pet she is ridiculously powerful, yes I have slotted the +45% damage Alpha very rare which probably helps but by the almighty can she plough though mobs.

Example, doing the ITF run on a debuffed Rommy she did her 3 hit melee attack, each hit did 800 damage and thats simply beautiful thing to see.

So Vickies are the 'Damage' side of the things and I know that Seers are the 'buff' side of things (mmm Fortitude) but how do the other pets stack up, I'm assuming they're not as good damage as the Vickies but better buffing than the +5% def to all Bubble Bot while not quite as good buffing as the Seers.

A nice middle range if you will.

Also I'm sleep deprieved and rambling.

warworks are top single target dmg and clockwork are top aoe dmg (IMHO)

the buff pet in clockwork isnt that bad either

i think most of my toons are going clockwork or warworks due to the awesome dmg output

I'm going to have to get the Vicky on one of my characters after reading this.

My favorite is still the IDF, though, just because they look cool.

I have T3 War, Clocks, and IDF. Vicky's a beast undoubtably. What I like about Clocks is that they are purely range so they don't waste time running around and getting in to melee. They are pretty much consistent damage. IDF are neat and I'm guessing the draw is the stun/kb they offer on most attacks. They're still great for damage but are outshined by Warworks.

Haven't tried Seers but I'm looking for sheer damage out of my pets and they seem to be bottom of the barrel for that.

I can only confirm this.
Just to add another example for the unbelievers: Mk-VI "Victoria" played a key role in yesterday's duo MoLGTF.
In short: Victoria made me wonder what in the world is keeping all those scrappers when they're trying to kill yellow mitos.

A pet 2-3 hit acing yellow mitos... even including pulling her back for transfusion healing off a pylon after every 2 of them I was easily able to take down all 6 yellow mitos with 1 summon of 1 Victoria.

Edit: Put up a better screenie.

Now if I was going very rare on Lore (I'm not, never lucky enough to get a very rare salvage drop, if I got one I would do it in a heartbeat, struggling to get the inf together to make a very rare for the very rare interface as it is) I'd probably lose the buff bot (which is what I have now, Vicky + buff bot), while 5% defense to all is nice, I think having a ranged damage dealer would cause the damage level to go from 'ridiculously beastly' into 'ohmygodeverythingisdead!'.

So it looks like.
Warworks: Single target damage.
Clockworks: AoE damage.
IDF: Controls (Stun/KB).
Seers: Buffs.

Well then I'm not longer interested.

Sorry Sam brain is fried, the joke went 'woosh' over my head.

My apologise.

I laughed once Oathbound mentioned it.

Damn I need sleep.

I'm pretty sure that was his continuation of the joke you started...

Honestly though, I don't really see Clocks with a whole lot of AoE. I mean the boss has the chest laser but it's a 5 degree... kinda like considering piercing rounds an AoE. I think of Clocks as mostly just heavy ranged damage, not AoE. The LT has an AoE also, but so does the Warworks ACU.

They don't do a whole lot of moving around and are essentially turrets. They have NO melee attacks so they don't follow the wonky MM AI where ranged units run in to melee to use a weak attack for no apparent reason. They'll stand in one spot and fire away. This is great for tankers for positioning pets out of AV aoe range.

I'm pretty sure my Victoria 2-shot a +2 tank swiper.

It was either 2 or 3 shot, but I'm pretty sure it was 2.

To set the record straight, yes, it was How much of a joke my disappointment was I'll leave up to the reader, but that's what I was getting. Seriously, that could make for one... Interesting thread. I mean, why DID Anti-Matter design those things with breasts, anyway?

To borrow a joke from The Batman cartoon you need to ask what are the Freudian implications of the Bane Spider's awesome mace??

If your mouse has greater processing power than your gfx card, the answer is yes.

The man's been trapped in that armor for god knows how long! All that pent up sexual frustration has to be let out SOMEWHERE.

I wish my pets would do what the ACU does, and stand the hell at range unleashing plasma based death I wouldn't want to lose the melee attack, though, because when a Boss (I think it was Maelstrom) runs into melee all of a sudden, only to get KO'd by my Assault Bot smushing him into the floor....thats a nice feeling.

I just wish they'd stay at range. Maybe having Vicky around will make life easier, because I sure ain't short on ranged damage.

At first I considered saying "And I wish my pets had breasts..." but I reconsidered when I realised I was serious. This does bring up the question of henchmen customization for Masterminds, to be honest, and I feel it's a subject we ought to look at tackling at some point in the near future. Some useless visual fluff would do well to offset the heavy emphasis on game systems of late.

You'll often hear me saying that customization to use weapons with non-weapon sets and use hands with weapon sets is the last big threshold for customization in City of Heroes. Well, I'm wrong when I say this, because I consistently forget about henchmen customization. That would be the other big milestone in the costume creator, and considering how we can already swap the Earth Control lumpy between rock, crystal and lava, I consider it the more realistic of the two.

In fact, I'd like to see at least one Henchman set allow for full customization via the costume editor, similar to how we design custom critters in the Architect (minus the class and power selection, obviously). I'd either like to see that as a separate set, or as an option for existing humanoid sets, since we know those use animations that the current player rigs can handle.

I hope at least part of that is still on the drawing board. I'd hate to think it was shelved ala bases and PvP.

This idea is seriously awesome, with one 'but'...

But... someone put animated hair in my head a while ago - I want that first.

How durable are the melee pets or other damage pets in general? I went for the Seer Seekers for my first Dest. slot, but am thinking of a melee damage dealer (Vicky, it sounds like) for my Kin. I've heard others say the non-invulnerable ones melt away pretty fast, esp on the trials. I assume they're pretty sturdy on regular +0 TFs?

The quickest I've seen mine die so far was in about 40 seconds which was while she had the full attention of an aggrocap worth of Rikti.
Another time she tanked Rommy on ITF with just the aid of my transfusion perfectly fine for as long as the timer allowed her to last.

Vicky can definitely take a bit of a beating.

It's true, it's right there in Section 183.34.9(b) of the Bylaws. These people are just Getting it Wrong (tm).

My Clockwork have been doing just fine, and I have the most damage-oriented rares, with no self-defense abilities. I usually drop them before the Siege/Nightstar phase on BAF and the Marauder fight in Lambda, and they usually both survive unless I die myself. On those two, it helps that they're ranged, so they stay away from Marauder's Nova Fist. They're not invincible, but they can take a beating.

Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.
