Always cracks me up...
Loading up trials tends to enjoy changing the league leader. Maybe it's a bug or just a kink in the system.

Was that followed by the new people in the queue refusing to hand over the grenades because "he knows when to use them", then wasting them while the team is fighting the ambushes, leading to the league running out of grenades when Marauder is at 2% health and then failing the trial?
Because that's why I haven't logged into the game since Friday.

Isn't it still generally a matter of "listen to the person in League chat barking orders" regardless of who has the yellow star?

Needing the grenades and acids suck. It just flat out sucks.
It would be better if we had a timed run to attack and destroy the doors rather than have to get acids. Maybe make the sabotage part help reduce the number of doors that spawn reinforcements. If you don't destroy them all before Marauder shows up then you need to attack the doors while dealing with Marauder and active reinforcements spawning.
And make Marauder tougher, even a lot tougher, but skip the enraged bit. Let the teams defeat him without needing to pacify him. I would play that trial.
To sum up, ditch the need for grenades and acids and find some other balanced mechanic that doesn't suck.
By the way how do you defeat Marauder if you don't use the grenades?

I think it's more a matter of having tons of resist debuffs and damage that isn't Smashing or Lethal.

I'm planning an attempt for a master lambda next weekend with all +3 characters and lots of debuffs. I want lots of rad, cold, and other -res -regen debuffs, plus a few bubblers/sonic for +def/+res against the ambushes. We'll see how that goes.

Lambda is not so bad if you have people that follow orders and a decent team set up. Sadly the stuipd factor kicks in and people dont leave room for temps in their tray and don't know they have them. Or they think they know better than the leader on when to use the grenades and 4 people toss them at once.
Regarding more than one person tossing grenades at once, I think it actually has a solution to that in place. More than once I've seen the message saying he's pacified again come up literally at the exact same time the message saying he's enraged does, and without me noticing the rather distinctive huge blue explosion around him that signifies a grenade landing. Now, unless people have some truly spectacular timing with that, and considering there's a significant delay between tossing the grenade and the message appearing that's highly improbable, I think it actually 'saves' the second grenade and applies it only when the first runs out. Only circumstantial evidence, but still.
Acids, though.... if I could reach through the internet and strangle people, the game would be down a few players by now. So many times, yelling and screaming in league chat for whoever has the acids to use them already... finally we give up and go kill the tube for more, possibly multiple times... once we FINALLY get all the portals down, some idiot pops up in league chat with 'hey I have two acids... what do I do with them?' or something similar. Missing it once, I could understand. But missing the whole league shouting at them for minutes on end, they'd have to either not have league chat in their tab (Note: It's put into the top tab of the main chat window by default) or deliberately be ignoring it. That or be too stupid to notice the words 'use', 'acid', 'on' and 'portals' in various combinations and realise the meaning.
Apologies for ranting.

As frustrating as the glowie smashing is for me on squishy characters, I have to say that the acid thing in Lambda is really the only part of the two trials that I out and out don't like. Almost every time, somebody doesn't use them even though we cleared out all ten tubes with time to spare. So we end up farming more as adds pile up and the league gets upset. It's not usually a gamebreaker to have to farm up two or three acids, but it is annoying. I really wish there was some way to dictate who got the temp power or at least see who has them so directions can be delivered.
I also had someone this morning insist on standing where they could be in the cutscene with Marauder and then promptly despawn him when their pets ran away. I wish instead of instant failure he would just port the target back to him, or instakill them, or something. It's a frustrating way for the trial to end, but much less common than acid issues thankfully.
Edit: I always have to manually add leage chat to my tabs, it doesn't show up in any of them by default. But I'm not going to deny that may be something with my settings.

Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.
Some noble soul spends 30+ mins trying to put together a full trial team. Everyone tires of waiting to fill last couple of spots and leader just starts the queue. Trial begins and random guy in queue becomes new league leader and has no idea what just happened.
