SG or Cult?

So, Ice Blitz was messing around on lolVirtue today when she got an invite from a supergroup there. They sent her a link to their website so she could familiarize herself with their policies and procedures, after awhile she looked up from her laptop and asked if every supergroup was like a cult. This is their policies and procedures page -> http://unknownheroes.guildportal.com...&TabID=2611995

Just a few great highlights from their rules. You can get kicked from the supergroup for failures to obey "direct" orders, treason/betrayal, and security violations. You must use the term "willing to help" instead of "LFT" because lft is spam. You cannot advertise a team or TF group unless a sg member is the leader. Then there are the forum rules; here is a good taste "no non sg affiliated logos, banners, icons, avatars or other forums of propaganda is allowed in the forums." If you are on their vent channel you can be banned and removed from the sg for playing a villain. People who hold leader ranks in the sg cannot have a toon in any other sg for security reasons. If you are suspected of being a threat to sg security, stability or loyalty you are demoted while the highest ranking leaders open an investigation.

Like I said, thats just a few of the very hilarious rules and regulations that they set on their sg members. So.....supergroup or cult?

As one who knows of them and their leader I'd say neither. I cannot wrap my head around rule #1 under guild guidelines. So it's ok for the leader to be one but no one else can? Best thing to do is ignore that group altogether. From what I've seen that is the only group that operates like that.

It's people like this that convinced me not to make a career out of the Army.

Backstabbing little social insects, the lot of them.

I know it will probably be deleted shortly. That group just seems like it'd sap the fun out of the game or turn it into more of a job/religion than anything.

I believe it was George Washington who said "Everyone is a #$%^ing Napoleon". Though Napoleon wasn't quite this strict so idk. At least there were no rules for how to properly lace up one's jackboots.

Now that I think about it it may have been Ani DiFranco instead of George Washington.

Everyone has to "follow orders" at some point in time, even in the civilian world (good example would be your gf/wife lol). This SG is definitely wacky, but considering it's on the RP server...meh.

Sorry you had a bad experience with the Army; I went to langage school for a year in Cali, hung out in Europe for years and got them to pay for my college among other things during my time in. Followed a lot of orders and issued a lot of orders

Honestly, I had fun while I was in. Just ran into a few of the "Will claw my way over you to advance myself" types and a few of the "I will micromanage every facet of your life, regardless of whether or not it's my business" types and it kinda soured me on continuing. Essentially I slid into a "dead end" unit. Transferring out, when my MOS was at 125% full force strength to any place save overseas would have been tough. And I didn't want to go through the hassle of going overseas again.

So I opted for "promotion" to PFC (the other one).

I hear you; I was in an understrength MOS (not able to do anything/stuck doing the same boring sheet) and got out after 10yrs+ with all the back and forth deployments. It was good while it last and lol at PFC aka private effing civilian...life is good. I've been doing govt work and have met almost as many civilian micromanagers/aholes. A lot easier to deal with the civilian versions though.

Hope all is good on your side of the fence now that you dont have to deal with so many "Backstabbing little social insects"

Back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Edit: "Bad Company - Five Finger Death Punch" played next, so Yeah, Phail Whale has set Sail.

For clans / guilds like that, "Wiros" was born in a QuakeII server around 1997, so many rules are not made for us.

It seems that some people forget that it is a GAME and the main goal is to have fun.

14 years latter, a punch of us still wearing proudly the tag, even turn it in our name is no other wiros there :P

So what's more shocking;

That they have such restrictive rules in place?

Or

That they somehow still manage to have an active SG with said rules?

Fun is subjective, just ask SteelClaw.

I can see that SG having a certain appeal with it's no nonsense approach. I'd never join though as it's a little to 'head in the sand' for my tastes, I mean you can't even mention the Phalanx without penalty!

As someone who's home server is Virtue, let me tell you that no one on Virtue really likes that group or it's leader. New characters frequently get bombarded with invites and /tells from the leader, and he's frequently used less-than-admirable recruitment tactics in the past. We try to ignore him.

Oh yeah, good thing we don't have any sg leaders like that here on Triumph

This guy's stuff is legendary, let me tell you. I just don't want to share any examples in a public forum s'all. Pretty funny stuff, though. Unless it happens to you. Then I imagine it's infuriating.

Buyer beware, he requires all members to be on VENT. This is how he monitiors and keeps tabs on you via IP address, just in case you become a security risk in the future by not following orders. Also even if your in a another SG, he'll blind invite you..if your on team he'll kick you after a mish or so. Im really suprised this SG leader is still the game, I would like to see the mountain of petitions against him. My advice like others said...stay away from him and group no good will from them.

MY My but someone is extremely obsessed aren't they? NO most SGs do not have a list of rules (???) like that. Good grief if I am on a team that is forming to run a Task Force or a trial and I belong to six or seven different globals that players use to look for teams I am always willing to help the leader by advertising.. And here's the flaw/insanity in that little rule .. If I help that team get to 8 people and we run the TF successfully then every one of those players i helped recruit just added prestige to the SG. I have to wonder just what "Direct Orders" we are talking about here. I have run or helped run SGs for years and never recall giving anyone an ORDER to do anything.... There are literally thousands of SGs out there and these days the need to even belong to one has diminished greatly. We sure don't require them to transport quickly anywhere these days. Global channels have made finding teams easier so the "We have lots of members you can team with" approach isn't nearly as effective as it once was. Frankly if a player wants to join an SG .. that group should be thrilled to have the added prestige earner.. Not coming up with a thousand rules that MUST be adhered to or we will dismiss you.

Your better off without them.. IMO their entire membership would be better off without them. Someone in "charge" over there has serious control issues.

OMG yes. I didn't really examine the web site as much until I saw Xzero's post. I have had dealings with the IDIOT that is in charge of this group. He loves to invite low level characters to teams, usually in PI, and then after a mission or two .. from what I have heard sometimes even during a mission the TELL arrives asking if you want to join a really GREAT SG.

Well in my case my 5 level had to inform him I was already a member of an SG and one of its leaders. Now I did nothing else wrong and was even polite in declining his offer.. I said I was sorry but I was a leader of another SG. I was KICKED off the team in the middle of Peregrine Island and Mister TACTFUL wouldn't even respond back to my tells when I asked what had happened. I came here to the forums and told my story and LOW AND BEHOLD.. he does that crap all the time. I guess he's too STUPID to realize a 60+ month Vet that already belongs to an SG might actually have a Base teleporter.. probably figured I would be trapped there and maybe even BEG him to let me join his SG so he'd rescue me. He's on my global ignore list now and if you are smart he'll be on your's as well. Oh by the way he is quite possibly the worst TANK I have ever teamed with I wouldn't even team with him again let alone join an SG he runs. You are not missing a thing from avoiding him and frankly I am amazed he has anyone willing to adhere to that list of BS rules he came up with. I put opver 20 years in the Military and the rules and regulations we had were not that insanely strict. AVOID contact with him at all costs

3. Please do not use the term "LFT" in any guild chat. Either use the term "Willing to help" (Abbreviations don't count, don't be lazy) or form a team and offer spots to the SG members. This helps create teams and keep an active SG while reducing spam in our guild chat.

2. No discussion of other guilds in or out of coh in our forums (even by reference)
