Admiral Sutter TF Question

I did the TF for the first time and was wondering what happens if you complete all the optional tasks in it?

Did the same last night but didn't see any additional rewards or badges for it. I like the artwork on the TF badge, though!

I did it last night... very fun TF, felt a bit epic. We were a bit scattered and confused because it was the first time for everyone, though someone had heard "in the final fight, hit this guy first" which we didn't do anyway. We were fine. I earned 4 shards while doing it, lots of bosses on the TF! ^_^

We didn't do any of the optional stuff I think either.

I tried to run it last night, but the ghoul bombs seemed to make it impossible. How did you all get past that part?

They have to hit first. And they can't fly. So I played my flying Forcefield Defender. That took care of both. I'm sure there are more ways to do it, but that's how I did it. I could see Hurricane as a very useful power in that encounter, too.

I was going to try and run one of these today, but didn't know where to find him. Didn't see it listed in the patch notes or on the wiki. Where can I find Admiral Sutter?

On the new ship that's NE of Statesman in IP.

This is a fun little TF...nothing overwhelming, nothing majorly off balanced. I will say the objectives in the first half of the first mish seems to be overwhelming to look at..but they are actually pretty simple...disarm the bombs and defeat all surface enemies.

Took little under an hour, 45 minutes, and fun was had by all.

No extra badges. A team completed them all the other night, including the fuel lines -after- the mission was done (those are damn hard to see). No idea what they are used for if we had done them first however No idea if there is an advantage to completing any of the optional tasks; we did them just to do it.

Ghoul bombs didn't appear to have a very high accuracy; I'm assuming they are AoE attacks, and while my scrapper has basically no AoE defense and there wasn't a ton of buffs on the team I was on that I'm aware of, I don't recall actually getting hit by them/many as they exploded.

Biggest issue my team had was getting out of the collapsed highway section. Lots of ways that look like they are big enough to leave through, but are not led to a lot of frustration before someone with teleport pulled half the team out for the last fight. Otherwise a fun and challenging task force.

I did spend the majority of the TF copying down the text for the wiki, though.

These two responses seem contradictory to me. One says IN.SANE. the other hour 45 and fun for all.

I guess our team of 5 had more in common with the IN.SANE. sentiment. We made it all the way to the Durays and then team wipe after team wipe...any hints, suggestions, guides on how to complete this task force?

Any help would be appreciated. (Our team consisted of a scrapper, two blasters, a controller and a defender.)

First, just letting you know the Mods often lock thread when they get necro'ed like this. (see section 5 of the forum rules)

My tips are to make sure and buy inspirations from the medic which is in zone (as is the hospital), learn to avoid the strafing runs, and concentrate all your firepower on only one of the Durays. Some people suggest hitting the teleporting one first, but I find that to be annoying, since you end up running all over the map trying to get to him.

What Stargeek said (about the necro'd post too... silly necropost picture in 3... 2...)

I ran Sutter a couple of nights ago, and there was a lot of in-channel whining about how much people hated the task force before we started. And... I like the task force, and it went well. Afterwards someone asked why people hated it so much, and the conclusion was that it's a perfectly fine task force with a good team, but can become a nightmare with... well, let's say a team that is less prepared. Our team had a lot of vet players that I play with all the time, many of them have IO'd builds with a lot of defense and who put out a lot of damage, I was on my dom so we had holds, etc. etc. In the absence of some of that, you can use inspirations to compensate.

One run I was on, there was a taunter who taunted Praetorian Duray under the bridge to pull the air strikes away from the team. But most of the other times I've run this, the team just jumped Primal Duray first and killed him through a combination of enough defense to survive/ignore the air strikes, and enough firepower to kill him quickly. If you can hold him, good, but if you have a lot of ranged damage then the teleporting isn't as big of a problem.

Oh yeah, one more helpful tip. As I mentioned, the hospital is in the zone. But rather than run all the way to the south and through the sewer grate to get back to the top, there's a secret exit. Go straight east from the hospital until you reach the top of a rubble pile, then look north and you'll find a hole through the rubble that will cut your travel time way down.

You'll get people back to the battle faster that way.

To answer the OPs question, Nothing "extra" happens if you complete the optional objectives. No badge, no extra ambushes or anything.

As for the contrast in experiences, try to realize that Organica is an experienced player and will typically team with other players who are quite capable -- if what I read in his marketing project is to be believed - and I've no reason to think otherwise.

Knowing what to do is pretty much half the battle. The mission objectives are a bit cluttered, and unless you have your map out with certain features checked, you may have a hard time figuring out which ship to go to.
I've only done this tf ...... 7 times? Pretty much just when it's a weekly.

Uh, the OPs question was over a year ago and they've probably left the game by now, since they haven't posted since June of last year.

Who raised this dead thread? Yikes! Thread necromancy!

Keep in mind too that this thread was made when Sutter was brand now, people hadn't played it much, didn't know what to do, and so it was hard. Later in the therad, people had done it more, knew what to do, and it was easy. That's why the difference in impressions. That's what you get for necroing. Now go post in an actually relevant thread.

My apologies for the necropost. However, I did NOT need smacked several more times after the original reply made polite note of it for me. I have been playing for 4 years and only posted on the forums 6 times. Yes, I read the forum rules, but had FORGOTTEN the 30 day rule. Since Sutter had come up as the WST again, I thought this was the most relevant thread, my mistake and my apologies to those it bothered. Going back to lurk mode, geesh.

Hi everyone,

Please try to avoid Thread Necromancy. Instead of posting in a thread that has not seen activity in some time, and risking confusion among readers who are unaware of the dated nature of the thread, please consider creating a new thread instead, and, if necessary, linking to the old thread.

Thanks!
