Things that Bug Me About the Animal Pack

I don't think "straight digitigrade" really makes sense. While the monsterous/digitigrade legs working at all might be stretching biology already, the front legs of an animal are comparable to human arms more than legs. It'd be better just to have fur options for plantigrade legs (i.e. normal legs), save more trouble than biological confusion and complaints that what you're suggesting would cause from at least myself. :P

Edited because I just realized I have a potty mouth. XD

I'd say a solid majority of the features in game are ape features.

My only real problem with the pack is that you can't make a naturally colored tiger. White tigers look fine, but normal tigers have three colors to their fur, and you can only use two on the body.

You're correct that 'straight digitigrade' doesn't really make sense, and I think that the option of having clawed toes at the end of the 'flat foot' model is the best, quickest way to deal with the situation.

What I was referring to was something like you see when a cat is standing or sitting in as straight as a posture as they can. Hypoallergenic is a good example since we can see his muscles and bones so well, so I've labeled his feline joints with the human equivalents.

"You'z bes' to be gettin' away from mes wit' that magick marker!"

Even in a very straight digitigrade front leg, what you see as the animal's 'front foot' is still just what would be your fingertips. His 'wrist' is well up the length of the leg. If you have a cat or dog available to you, you can reach up to this area and feel a little pad that would be the equivalent of the butt of your palm.

My few gripes/disappointments:

3) The divots that are left when you make a minotaur head without horns.

2) The aforementioned fire breath coming out of a weird spot on the minotaur head.

and by far my number 1 disappointment:

1) The fact that we can't combine beast legs with skirts/kilts. I can even live with the fact that our animal heroes and villains can't wear hats, but not the skirts/kilts thing.

Non-human ape features then. gorilla feet and hands, different monkey and ape heads, etc. The savage emote is very obviously a monkey flipping out, yet we don't have the pieces to match that theme.

I'd really, really like to see a 'Big Cat' version of the cat legs added in. Basically just a double sized version that are a lot thicker set, that would work better for wolf characters with the minimum of work.

(Also, the current cat legs look damn freaky on female models, but ok on Male and Huge. Same goes for all monstrous legs on female, though. Something is outta whack, imo.)

And if anything gets changed, please scale the female and huge wolf heads up a bit, they look rediculously pin-headed atm.

Thanks for taking note, Zwill!

I tend to agree with most of the points, but I know they didn't have a lot of time to mess with alternate options.

I wish the animal heads could have hair. I wish I could close their mouths. I wish I could make minotaur hooves match the rest of the body. I wish I could have flat feet with animal fur.

I'll wait and see what else we get in the future.

My four gripes which I think could/should be tweaked post launch of the pack still, from most reasonable to least:

- The lack of the fur texture on flat feet
- The lack of the three new animal patterns showing up on capes
- The divets, as mentioned above, on the cow head when you select no horns
- Another significant pass still should be made on beast run animations to bring it up to part with other animations in game

I just wanted to reply because I've done a similar image (to debunk the "backwards facing knees" comment people tend to make, and yes I know some people are using the term just because it's easier, but it's still wrong. And yes I also know that Horse's wrists are actually called knees, but that doesn't mean they're anything like human knees.) But anyway, on to the image!

All tetrapods have the same skeletal base, with certain bones compressed or elongated depending on species. But from bats to dogs to even whales (though whales have lost nearly all of the bones in their rear extremities), we're all built on largely the same floor plan.

As for the animal pack.. I've scaled up the head to max sliders on every one I've used so far, which I'm used to doing on monstrous heads, and even some human-heads on which I'm using gas masks as animal snouts. There are always going to be limitations to the game, whether it's "We can't do that" or "we just didn't have time" or whatever. Of course I'd always love to see more options, more more more! - But I'm pretty happy with what we've gotten so far.

Here's hoping for Animal Pack #2: Ursine, Rodent, and Equine! ;]

The one thing that has really bugged me about the Animal Pack. No Whiskers! Really?! * Looks at two cats on desk both will full sets of whiskers*

Which leads to my peeve about not being able to use at least some of the details from existing options. I.E. monocles and the existing beast ears or us being able to use the ears from this pack on human heads.

Perhaps it's an oversight but I'd have liked it if the Beastly Rage aura had the Chest and Eye combination like Alpha and some other auras have. So, perhaps we can get that added? Please?

The animal heads are pretty much the only part of the pack that I won't use. I don't want to look exactly like everyone else. I would have liked more facial pieces to mix and match.

This is one of my gripes with the animal pack. With the mutant pack, the flat feet had options to the mutant pack feet skins. However it isn't the case with the animal pack.

I wish we could get some options for the bird head, for a two toned look. Perhaps something like this:

There's a number of birds with similar two-toned head coloring, where the top and sides of the head are one color, and the underside is a different one, together with the feathers on the animal's chest.

I think one of the primary things that bugs me about the animal pack is that it is completely unlike every other costume set in the game in that it can't be combined with other parts. Honestly, this mystifies me because it is such a radical departure from the norm. I can only assume that the pack was rushed into production and therefore the designers were not given the time needed for thoughtful reflection. (The other option being that the art department hates anthropomorphic characters and only did the minimum necessary to get it out the door. Based on the hideousness of the previous animal heads and statements made by some Devs in the past, I'm actually kind of leaning towards this assessment, but I do want to be fair.)

Back to the details thing: I have a comical character named Kung-Pow Chicken, so I was jazzed to switch from the kludgey combination of mohawk, horns and gas mask to an actual bird head. But we can't use anything to recreate the chicken's crest, so she would end up looking like a fat hawk instead. Besides being able to combine animal heads with the other facial details, a feather pattern on the body and limbs would be nice, as would some form of bird tail.

One huge disappointment for me was that the smooth wolf tail wasn't added to this pack, too. I think it was shoehorned into the Mutant Pack because of the tepid reception that booster received and the fact that so many of us had expected the Mutant Pack to be animal themed. (Per Positron's comment.) More than a few people commented that they bought the Mutant pack solely for the wolf tail, so that was a good business decision on their part, but it's painfully clear that it simply doesn't belong in that set since it's a complete departure from the rest of the theme. I intensely dislike the ragged tail because it reminds me of the creepy bag worms that were the bane of my teenage existence.

For some inexplicable reason, I went all cockeyed optimist when we were solicited for feedback (after all these years I really should have known better) and I saw the ape emote and Zwillinger's post about "going ape". I combined the two in my mind and assumed there'd be some simian parts added.
