is this rude or funny?

When on a team and someone dies, I turn Vengence on.
Then I will thank them for dying.
So itll be like
- Ultra-Mega-man dies
- I turn vengence on
- I say "Vengence on. Thanks Ultra-Mega-Man!"

rude or funny?

Neither really.

I said this last night to a teammate on a speed ITF and felt bad about it afterward. It's...not really rude, but it's easy to take it the wrong way. "Hey, thanks for sucking!"

I have to agree. I don't find it funny in the slightest, but it's not rude either. But if it were fired off more than a few times it would be extremely annoying.

My Venge bind is from Galaxy Quest:

"By Grabthar's hammer. By the suns of Warvan. You shall be avenged!"

I know it's annoying in large doses, but I only hit it once per TF if at all, after that I just click the power or use a bind that has no speech element.

Death is just a part of the game. Everyone makes mistakes. While I wouldn't call a bind like that out-and-out funny it does paint something that might otherwise be annoying in an amusing light. If someone gets their knickers in a twist over it and does think you're being rude, they're probably taking themselves a little too seriously, and most need the laugh.

That said, I also agree with those that say seeing that every time it goes off would get annoying.

the penalty and inconvenience for dying in this game is so, so tiny that it wouldn't matter to me. in fact, people quite often volunteer to be 'veng fodder' to benefit the team in a greater way than they could just playing their character.

Doesn't strike me as particularly bad.

It kind of reminds me of what happened on the last Apex I was on with one of my scrappers who has Vengeance. On a reasonably regular basis I'd be scrapperlocked away from the rest of the team, and when someone died, I'd rush to where they dropped, hit vengeance, and rush away again.

If you think about it, it has a bit of a carrion-eater undertone.

*Rush in*
*Nom*
*Rush out*

There was an implied "wheeeeeeee!" in my zipping away with vengeance that, quite frankly, had me giggling.

Or maybe I've been having too much sugar and caffeine. Hey, I've been writing code, and everyone knows that's how code is made!

If it is rude, I play with very offensive people, and always have, and they hate everybody.

depends on how you would word it. it'll be more funny than rude.

What's rude and funny is that I've been wanting to make an Ultra-Mega-Man toon!

Yes, it's funny.

Really. That line isn't really rude, but it's not funny, and would likely get annoying if used to often.

Not that you can't make a funny bind for it (but again not to be over used), but that one just isn't funny.

Seems painless enough if used in moderation. If someone gets all upset with you, they need to take a timeout and realize it's just a game.

My main villain has fallout and I have a bind something like: "Don't worry $target. I'll rez and revive you with Mutation in a second, but first I'm going to blow you up. I know it's evil, but hey, that's just me! Have fun and happy villainy!" Usually gets a chuckle from teammates. And no, I don't use it everytime.

I made one of those his name was NeuroticBluBedwetter

His sole purpose was vengebait.

Ignoring anyone is a mistake. You might miss something viral to your cause.

I say "So long, and thanks for all the vengeance." I also take every opportunity to remind people that living teammates are of no use to a widow.

If I were your veng-bait, Firebeam, I wouldn't find it rude. I might even chuckle over it...

I'm easily amused.

Usually when my Fire/Rad trifectas someone (Vengeance/Fallout/Mutation) I wind up thanking the corpse and pointing out how many enemies "they" just killed.

Then I ask them to ease off on the chili next time.

Yep. I would say that if no one on a team ever dies, the team is not pushing itself hard enough and needs to reevaluate their abilities.

I have a bind with my TA/Arch Defender that I use occasionally when we're steamrollering missions to have him say "I'm not getting much of an End discount; could you all suck a bit more?" Generally gets a laugh out of about half the team.

I guess it would depend on who you were teaming with. I play with friends and we spend all night joking with each other and cutting each other up. Someone dying and making Vengance an available tool would have and HAS gotten similar treatment to what you did and we were all fine with it. Hey I have several characters with Rise of the Phoenix so when I die in combat I rez and hurt a pile of NPC bad guys in the process... at 50 level debt is just another badge and normally is gone by the time we take out the next mob so who cares.

Now on a PUG with a group of people you don't know .. I could see how someone with a limited sense of humor might take that the wrong way. Personally I don't see it as rude but can see how someone else might. Yeah I Know .. "Gee thanks Wendy that was NO help at all!" lol

I've got a character in the Faithful Fans of Fallout. Not only do we... "encourage" people to be Vengeance fodder, we do it for Fallout, too.
