61866 - A Series of Unfortunate Kidnappings - More than a coincidence?
2260 - The Burning of Hearts - A green-eyed monster holds the match.
379248 - The Spider Without Fangs - NEW - Some lessons learned (more or less.)

Yeah, once. I think I must have deliberately blanked that part out and just remembered it as "I stick my head inside a weird rock because a demon said it would be ok even though I had been told it had the potential to go very very wrong, nearly awaken a slumbering sea monster that could destroy us all and nearly get consumed by said monster just to go Rambo on the Legacy Chain for five minutes." Which was admittedly kinda fun, and better at simulating a power-up than the first mission of Ramiel's arc.

I'm fairly certain in the game the coming storm has been revealed to be the Praetorian invasion. I swear I remember seeing that in one of the new missions or TFs.

Storylines/ideas that I'd like to see revisited or expanded on....

  • The Gold Brickers: We hardly know anything about them despite their rather large presence in Cap au Diable and nothing about their leader, King Midas.

  • The Patrons: I'd like to see more story arcs on red-side in the lower levels dealing with Lord Recluse's 'trusted' lieutenants. I mean, look at what we have in the lower levels concerning them...
    • Ghost Widow: We do have an excellent story arc with Seer Marino, and this is what I'm talking about, but look at the others...
    • Captain Mako: It's true that we don't have any low level story arcs dealing directly with him, but if you pay attention to whats going on in Sharkhead Island you do learn a lot about him and his past...but what is he doing now?
    • Scirocco: I might have missed it, but as far as I can tell there is noting on red-side dealing with him at all until you get to the Patron Story arcs.
    • Black Scorpion:....he keeps getting his Data Slugs stolen from him?
...perhaps they're stolen by the Gold Brickers?

  • Nerva Archipelago: I feel that the Dev's missed a big opportunity here. After all, Nerva isn't under the control of Arachnos which is why Longbow has built up such a large presence there; plus Crey is operating quite openly and the Circle of Thorns have something brewing in the northern islands while the Devouring Earth have made their presence known far from the Hive.

Sure, there are a lot of missions that dealing with backstabbing and behind doors deals...but the Nerva Archipelago is a power-keg ready to blow and there isn't anything really dealing with the balance of power there...

Plus, what's with that guy I always see rolling a barrel underwater?

  • Wyvern: Here's another group that should be addressed. Quite frankly, there is little in the game dealing directly with them. Oh sure, they're around a lot but (like the Gold Brickers) there isn't any storylines dealing directly with them. Which is a shame since, according to their official information, they could be the poster children for the Vigilante Alignment.

  • Mooks: Yet another group that the Dev's seemed to forget about. Sure, they do have a rather fleshed out in-game back story, but once you leave Port Oaks they're no where else in the game. You'd think that any origination that could survive fighting the Family in their home turf would be elsewhere in the game.

That's all I can think of for now, but I might come up with more later.

Would that it were. However, the more we see of the intended storyline, the less this holds true unless one were to indeed just stop reading any in-game text not found in the combat tab. And this isn't a recent thing, either. Railroading storylines that sideline our characters as second fiddles to the NPCs who actually act out the plot have been with us since day 1, but they didn't become truly prevalent until City of Villains decided we all wanted to be Arachnos lackeys, even if we didn't want to want that. And where Going Rogue promised to offer more freedom, it ended up railroading us even more, just giving us two sets of tracks, both of which heading in the wrong direction.

In a way, I almost feel sorry for the 1-20 Praetorian writers. They clearly put a lot of effort and talent into bringing that world to life, only to be hamstrung by an unnecessarily resterictive gameplay structure and a storyline which eventually made all of their efforts irrelevant since the Praetorians are now Invading Aliens #1123422.

Quite the opposite. Prometheus currently advises us to fight the Praetorians, and claims that there's no point in even discussing the Coming Storm until Cole is dealt with.

Did he now? Well, in all fairness to Mender Ramiel, he should be focusing on getting you prepared for the challenges you face right now. Whether we will face The Coming Storm or not is as yet unwritten. The need to face Tyrant is already upon us, and that is where my current focus lies.

Ah, but don't forget that "Mender Ramiel" is an anagram for "Lame Reminder"! *dramatic music*

Well, and also "Relaid Mermen." Hey, folks figure that Mender Silos's name was also important, so there you go.

"How do you know you are on the side of good?" a Paragon citizen asked him. "How can we even know what is 'good'?"

"The Most High has spoken, even with His own blood," Melancton replied. "Surely we know."

I want more detailed info on the everyday lives of civvie Praetorians

Do they celebrate christmas? Easter? Have those holidays been replaced, forgotten?

I want a really good timeline of what went down in Praetoria

In fact, I'd like a better timeline for Primal too!

Well, seeing as how they're not celebrated in Primal Earth, I kinda doubt they're celebrated in Praetoria. We celebrate winter for about a month between December and January, and spring for a couple weeks (in February, no less).

I want more of W.I.S.D.O.M.
I love the coolest trainers in CoH. Foreshadow and Mirror Spirit.
Their design and costumes are awesome, only matched by new Praetorians from GR like Belladona, Noble Savage or Nightstar.
They both rock in the comics and in the korean promo trailers of CoH.
I want to learn them about what they up to...
I want them to have more spotlight or their own TFs.
Also, I wish Rose Star and Spark Blade were in the game already.
Must be some previous work of them somewhere, just put them into the game with a new nice story arc featuring members of W.I.S.D.O.M.
Come on, a guy with both a katana and long pistol with electric powers?
Please!

Late to the party again...

I see lots of level 40 Banished Pantheon, right in Dark Astoria. It just happens to be the friendly faction ambush during the Numina TF.

Huh. I don't remember performing any dark rites this morning....

Seriously, I clicked a link on the first page of the forum to read the last page of the thread, then replied without noticing the date on Ice_Wall's post. At least, I thought I did. But there's nothing between Sam's old post and my new one.

How did I get here, and why am I wearing this lampshade?

What other stories do you feel need to be further explored?
So, any official word on if any of these things will be looked at? Because the new proliferation will bring me back to the game for a little while, but the only way that CoX will be keeping me on as a paying customer in the future is if I have the knowledge that all the stories that I've been fighting through for the last five years will actually have some sort of progress.

If I feel as if I'm making no real progress, no real "dent" in the world... what's the point of me fighting?

That's a very good question.

I've been fighting the same battle, Wes... it's partly why I start threads like this and this, to bring to the forefront the storylines that engage us as players.... in the (probably vain) hopes that The Rednames will take it to heart and advance them, considering how much has progressed in-game.
