Tell me again we have War Walls?
What I am saying is that upgrading CoH to the Vista tech and removing the war-walls is going to take a lot of work. Implementing that type of upgrade would likely be almost as art intensive as simply creating new zones from scratch.
At some point somebody is going to have to pay for Noble Savage and his crew to sit in a chair and draw the new artwork. At some point somebody is going to have to pay for The Box and The Television and their crews to work the engine and maps to implement the "Vista" zoning. So whose going to pay for that work? More importantly, when is that work going to be done? |
I would hope, however, that any future environment work would be done on revamping stuff.
Because, let's be clear here; Paragon does NOT need more zones.
Yes, that's opinion. It's also a fact that there are already too many zones Blueside sat there nearly empty, with sweet naff all being done with them. Whats the point in adding some super sweet new shiny to a whole new zone when you could put that effort instead into making a dead zone active again?
And I didn't know that about IP and Terra Volta...that's just plain daft, tbh.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

Terra Volta was built by Time Lords. True story.

Ok I'm might get a bit of flak from this but, personally I like War Walls. It helps achieve the feeling that there is always a constant threat occurring and the war walls are there to help defend Paragon.
Hell even one of the badge missions asks you to help prevent Malta from nuking War Walls to kingdom come. While yeah the whole "rikti threat" is a bit redundant (especially on Freedom and Virtue due to the LGTF spam) due to the rikti being able to shut them down. It still helps keep other threats at bay i.e. Devouring Earth (to an extent) Family getting into Terra Volta, Arachnos invasion hordes, etc.

Actually, it was a rikti mission.

A big problem I have is lazy mission development where alternate dimensions or even the psychic plane is represented with War Walls.
"Samual_Tow - Be disappointed all you want, people. You just don't appreciate the miracles that are taking place here."
Whilst recognising the limits of tech and dev time I would love to see Paragon given a Praetoria style revamp.
I admit they give a sense of grand scale, but the problem is, they often don't feel like they help protect paragon. they just feel like Big dumb objects that make paragon feel oppressive.

(What? Look at the evidence of other dimensions! Dictatorship is in this man's blood! It's only a matter of time!)

Thanks. I keep forgetting. (I'll be sure to triple check my Forum Post's Title from henceforth.)

I'm pretty sure you can use 'edit post' to change the title.

From the perspective of someone who plays all three sides, I think they look bloody 'orrible.

They do. But on the other hand the lore that goes with them is quite fun and without War Walls there'd be no need for the War Wall Defender badge.
Besides, I suspect taking them down will be a big deal... Dev time that could be better used for other things, like you know, maybe Power Pool customisation.

Replace them with sonic walls.
Hail Cole!
I'd like Atlas Park to have more fountains at the plaza, and for the "wild" look of the parks to be changed into a more landscaped look.

One idea I had awhile ago for something new and cool for Atlas park would have been to make all the walls along the raised floors of City Hall become memorial walls, baring the names of all the heroes (from around the world), police, firemen, and paramedics who have given their lives for the sake of Paragon City.
Possibly to REALLY put it into perspective, have the warwalls of Atlas also serve as an extended memorial wall, with the odd bouquet and candle shrines to fallen loved ones.
All to serve as a humbling reminder that the world is made of both super men and laymen, but all it really needs is brave ones.

Blueside is horribly outdated and in desperate need of a revamp.

Some companies can, and did very well with that, and I would like to see revamps happen, but, at the same time, I'd much rather see New stuff. And getting into a situation where you're spending most of your budget reworking existing stuff instead of generating new just doesn't feel good.

When I say merge Terra Volta and Independence Port, I don't mean to keep the Terra Volta area the same size as it is now - it has quite a bit of filler that could be trimmed without losing any of the unique feature sof the zone, like Gordon Trench and the Reactor.
Plus, I also don't mean to keep it as an island - I mean make it occupy the whole southern end of IP, making the actual port area smaller and easier to travel around.
