Felicia Day is the Elf Assassin of my Dreams

Elf in Dragon Age... no tattoos. So likely she's a City Elf.

Something tells me that they're going to ignore the lore and behavior of people in that game series that makes it not for kids.

Who knows, maybe she'll end up covered in over-exaggerated blood splatter?

Cannot get over how unbelieveably horrible the new Kotaku layout is.

And engage in friendly conversation with people who'll never mention it.

I can't wait to see this.

I generally don't like Fantasy Elves in movies - they just get a human actor (admitedly usually slim with minimal body hair, but still...) and stick pointy ears on them. If Elves don't have large, slanted, almond-shaped eyes it just doesn't work, IMO.

'Course, I used to like Elves more than I do now, so whatevas.

So you're saying they should be getting actual elves to play the elves in movies? I agree. For too long this discrimination again Elven Actors in the movie business has gone unopposed.

Well just to play Devil's Advocate there's probably just about as many opinions on what makes a "proper" elf as there are people in the world. And besides the way you said "they just get a human actor" sounds as if we could (and should) be getting REAL elves to play elvish roles in movies. If they actually exist then I wouldn't have a problem with that at all.

Unless you have the budget of something like Cameron's Avatar to make awesome CGI "elves" there's always going to be some compromise that won't suit everyone. I'm quite sure Felicia's version of an elf won't be that much different than any other's we've seen on screen so far. *shrugs*

I didn't realize there was a proper standard for elves. Given they aren't real and all. /shrug

My favorite are the redhaired ones who star in "The Guild" and "Red: Werewolf Hunter."
If Felicia makes me cookies, that'd be the hat trick!

Felicia Day, Red: Werewolf Hunter, The Guild.

Two of these things are cool and I'd like to see more of.
One of these things was one of the worst god-awful things I ever wasted any time to watch.

It both amazes and saddens me these things are forever related.

I once wrote a very short story about a warg rancher who'd been hired to supply them for the filming of the Lord of the Rings movies. His best friend was a extra who'd been trying to break into major roles for years, but, as he complained to the warg rancher, "There are so few good roles for orcish actors."

I'm on the fence with this project. Felicia Day is awesome but these kinds of genre projects usually end up like bad SciFi channel fodder...

Craft your inventions in AE!!

Play "Crafter's Cafe" - Arc #487283. A 1 mission, NON-COMBAT AE arc with workable invention tables!

Agreed. The Guild remains awesome. Red was... well, it was a SyFy production, so that says it all. A rare misstep for Felicia. Still, she had fun making it, from what I read.

Ewwwww...... Not that I have a problem with almond shaped eyes since one of the most beautiful women I will ever know possessed them but big slanted almond shaped eyes just makes them too alien for me.

Anyways, I dont have a problem myself with a slim person playing an elf as long as they get the ears right.

Please note I never said I liked Red: Werewolf Hunter, I just said she starred in it.

I barely made it through that film.

Is this like that thing about how all real vampires are Eastern European male nobles who turn to dust when exposed to sunlight?

(Thus ignoring all differing lore that predates and postdates that specific stereotype.)

Dr. Todt's theme.

All vampires are pale-skinned, black-haired females in their late 20's who like to wear skintight dresses that are cut to the navel.

I don't know where you are getting this stereotype that they're all *ick* dudes...

The whole "almond-shaped eyes" thing is pretty new in fantasy-fiction as a whole, I believe.

I don't ever recall reading a thing about that eye shape till Dragonlance came out, and only after Laurana was introduced.

And elves went from tall, to short and then back to tall as well.

For those wondering, it's a short elf setting.

Unrelatedly, here's a teaser. Disclaimer: this is "our local television stations don't want this streamable so RAAAGE at America" content.
