The player meet in Birmingham was awesome, and the support for it from the EU marketing people was very much appreciated. I'd definitely sign up for another of those.
Honestly, I don't really care that much about the forums. It normally takes a day or two to get an official response here anyway, so if EU posts are dealt with with a bit of a timelag, it doesn't make much difference. In-game events, competitions etc are more important to me, and recently there seems to have been an effort for greater parity between US and EU on that front, which is great.

If you mean city location: Birmingham. It's about as central as you can get, with good transport routes by rail, road and air.
If you mean pre-existing event: Memorabilia has proven to be a hit with CoH players in the past. If you mean actual down-to-earth "where to meet": The pub. |
Oh and Zwillinger, if you're ever in the UK your more then welcome to come visit Mr and I!
Mr sure knows how to make a killer Full English Breakfast!!! And the choccy cake he made me for my birthday last year was to die for!!!
I went to Memorabilia just in order to visit the CoH stand, and I'd probably go again if Paragon/NCSoft were there.

First of all, let me just say thanks for posting something like this and the continued checking up on the posts..not saying no one has done tht in the past..i'd be lying if i said they didnt, it just has a nice feeling that we are thought of and people are curious/concerned enough not just for a topic but for posts 2. so thank you.
when i looked at the forums..anytime tbh, like now its 4.07am (uk time) i might not look at this till friday 9am..never a organised thing reading the fourms..but i read them alot..more or less hehe
what would i prefer...toughy..ill say tht..if i had to pick id say serveral hours behind but someone who has more info..knows whats hip (if u know what i mean) i like the idea of engaging folks, but the idea of being in a position of knowing maybe alittle bit more is nice.. ive asked this myself for ages long before the merger of the fourms..basically since what...issue 9 when i really started reading the fourms
and i argee with most if all of what everyone has said. theres alot of work to do EU side time, cost etc pending but as we are such an awesome community with great people watching over us i think we can unite even closer over time.
actual player meets and meet n greets would be awesome n helpful
also..can anyone tell me when villains side are going to get more focus low levels..we're really missing low lvl sf's..one reason i take my villains heroside during the 30-40 period cos theres hardly anything to level there besides normal arcs..ah crap now im rambling..basically.yer what they said xD
Hi Zwillinger - first let me say how great it is to have someone actually ask us something. That's a refreshing change for the good! Avatea is obviously a stalwart of the EU side but even with the forums merger we've still often felt a bit left in a corner - so thanks for posting!
I tend to read in the daytime, morning to afternoon GMT, and then play the game in the evening. I won't often check the forums in the evening unless it's for something specific - whereas daytime I interact a reasonable amount.
Time (as others have said) is less of an issue than good feedback and info for me. I don't need an instant daytime answer - but a solid, reasonably answer that's come from a decision maker is important. For me at least, something credible and reliable a few days later is way more significant than a half-hearted "maybe" answer from someone who can't actually tell us the situation. If we have to wait for that answer, then so be it.
Cheers again

I agree with you that the lack of official Meet & Greets is an area of concern, and one that I would love to address, time and budget permitting.
Here's a question for the EU players, aside from something like GamesCom, what do you feel would be the most appropriate venue were something like this possible? |
Also +1 to merged server list

Some thoughts before I nod off...
I've shared some of the sentiments expressed in this thread with others around the studios. It's been very helpful as we discuss options we currently have in front of us.
Also, I took some time to talk with the proper people about some type of an official meet and greet. No promises as of yet, but I really would like to make this happen.
It's been a very hectic 2 weeks since I started here at Paragon, so thanks for bearing with me and my sporadic check-ins.

I think we are all very appreciative that you're jumping in the deep end. 2 Weeks is very early to be dealing with some of us grouchy EUers!

Ohhh - even with no promises made this is a good sign, as I myself have never been to a meet and greet so an official one would be grand!
And Congrats on your new job at Paragon Studios, I wish you all the best! It's nice to see a Community Manager diving in the deep end. As Mega_Jamie said just 2 weeks into a new job is very early (and scary) to deal with alot of the EU players on the forums!

As echoed by others, your input and interest is very welcome. The fact that the chance of arranging a meet has been tabled is a start. "Build it and they will come" - based on previous player meets the EU customers will be there ready to ask questions, offer opinions, lay down PvP challenges (maybe not so often nowadays), race task forces, and most importantly, socialise (the use of a drink, or two, is optional).

I think it's part of the induction programme...if you can survive dealing with that EU lot we will let you stay on!

Zwill, can you beat someone around the head for the situation with the EU test server? To whit;
-The Character Copy Tool breaking more than a car made of cheese
-EU Test having ONE server only, meaning that when it's in use for any sory of Beta, those not inside can't use it
And I think the last point is very much contestable, given that the US have two. We pay the exact same as US customers (I heard it was actually a tad more), and yet we still don't get equal service. Yes, it's a little thing, and one that often gets taken for granted. But theres really no good excuse for it.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

Well, you know the answer already. Clue: it's been mentioned plenty of times in this thread already.

Was there anything else you wanted to ask us Zwillinger while you've got our undivided attention?
I think all of us appreciate you taking the time to talk to us and would be happy to give you more information on the EU experience (as long as you can put up with some of us grouchy residents).
