Played fine earlier this evening logged out to eat my evening meal and came back later to play again and suddenly I am allegedly on a Trial account!?!?
News to me my account is over 60 months old and I have just renewed for 3 months, getting this exact same issue!
I just had this happen - was logged on to a char, did a logout to character selection and got the same popop the OP mentioned - Not sure what I clicked on but it logged me out and did something wierd to my character list - I logged right back in and my character list was empty. Then I exited the game completely, logged back in and my chars where back but the list was in random order - like the playerslot.txt file got toasted.
No apparent problems other than that.

Can you provide an approximate time of day and time zone when this occured?
We would like to see if this happened to all of you around the same time or if this is something that is happening at random intervals.

Sorry but I didnt happen to notice the time when I logged, I'd guess around 2pm Central, and was on Liberty.
This bug wasn't limited to trial accounts. I'm a 69 month vet and it happened to me too at about 11 am on Freedom. I logged out of the game and fired up the updater again and back into the character select and the problem was fixed.

Happening to my roommate. He tried logging in for the first time today at 5:30 MST, and was told he needed to upgrade. He and I have been playing since close to release. I haven't had a chance to check my account yet.
He tried again just now and everything is normal again.
No trial account notices, but I just had all of my Praetorians grayed out when I logged on the character select screen. Logging back out to the server select and then returning to the character select screen seemed to fix the problem. Virtue server, 7:04 pm CST.
ok it is 7:30 pm cst and i am getting a message that i am on a trial account ...i am 57 mth vet and can not log into any toons..........this is crap........when will this get fixed/

I didnt have a trial account pop up but when I put in my password I got a message there was a problem with the game database and to contact customer support. I closed it down, rebooted and no issue.
I am on the East Coast - North Carolina and it is 10:30pm est.
I had a similar thing occur (Virtue, appx 8pm, EST) tonight. At the character select screen, one (maybe more, I only checked the first one I noticed) of my toons had a different color script, and when I clicked on it, there was a message saying I had to buy the Going Rogue issue to play this, complete with a nice big button saying "buy now!". I couldn't log onto this toon or any other toon, either - the "enter" button on the bottom right was grayed out.
I bought GR ages ago, the toon in question is 50 (hero) brute originally created in Praetoria. I backed out to the log-in screen, and everything was fine when I got back to character select.
This seemed similar enough to your "Trial Account" prompt that I thought I'd toss it in. Hope whatever this is gets fixed - good luck guys.

It happened again once during the evening (don't have the time, sorry). Like the previous time, I clicked Back to Server Selection. Then re-selected Virtue and it was fine.

Just happened to me now at 7:10am est. Justice server. Restarting the instance cleared problem for me.
I'm not entirely sure of the time. I believe it was around 7:55pm EST
My 48month account showed my level 38 Praetorian created character as grey(Justice Server). The update to Going Rogue message was in view.
I logged out completely and logged back in and all appeared normal.

I can echo much of the same as what has been said so far. Happened to me on Monday evening logging in to Victory server 7:30pCDT-8:30pCDT approx. I was nervous so logged out of the game and in to my master account and all information was good. Logged back in to the game and it was fine.
Then the same thing happened last night, approx 7:30pCDT logging on to Victory. This time I just did a quick exit and re-log and I was fine.
