Looks fairly bad to me, but I guess I'll wait for a trailer to judge.

Boy am I glad I stopped at X-2, though I gotta be honest the first half of Wolverine was at least tolerable. This however, just looks and sounds stupid. I find it funny that Mystique is wearing a uniform.. so I guess they've moved past their limitations with CGI "morphing" so that the actress who plays Mystique doesn't have to be naked?

while the woman playing Emma is indeed ungodly hawtsome, this movie has already failed in that Kelsey Grammar will not be providing the voice for the Beast. I also regret that the only place where we got to see his awesomeness as the blue, beautiful, bouncing, befurred Beast is in the Last Stand.

also, i expect it to be a movie that takes place in the 1960s and yet still have modern day cars, computers, and military equipment for no reason.

k, that is all.

Obviously you've been traumatized to the point of apathy.

Completely understandable.

Apparently according to Superherohype.com, Fox jumped the gun & Vaughn confessed he freaked out yesterday when he saw those released pictures of the mutant line-up.

"I freaked out on them yesterday. I don't know where the hell that came from. I don't think it's a Fox image. It's not a pre-approved image. When I found out, I said, what the ***** is this sh*t, and Fox is running around trying to figure out what happened as well. I agree. It's like a bad photoshop, which maybe it was by someone. It didn't reflect the movie. I was shocked when I saw it. I was like 'Jesus Christ'...

Still, heres a teaser-poster and three more pictures showing its 60's inspired look.

Asked if he’s concerned about the glut of superhero film competition this summer — with “Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Green Lantern” and ”Thor” – Vaughn said that, if anything, it’s the other guys who should be nervous. “With ‘Green Lantern,’ I don’t know about that one, I couldn’t get my head around the trailer, to be honest … look, I will say the following: X-Men as a brand is bigger than Captain America, Thor and the Green Lantern, all put together.”
Vaughn must be referring to the X-Men during the 90s, right?

“This isn’t a reboot, so I’m not replacing anyone, in which case you might want to try to be as different as possible and stay away from what had been done before,” McAvoy said on Monday during a break from a rescue scene that required water-tank work.
So they're actually trying to tie X-men 1 -3, Wolverine and this thing all together?
That makes me feel better just on the basis that when Marvel gets the rights back it'll be the first official reboot of the series. On the other hand, lol at them for trying to make sense out of the train-wreck they have made out of their series.

What I want to knowis how they get Emma from younger in Wolverine to Older in this prequal?

Unless they're just going to say these are different Emma Frost's.

I've been at that point for quite some time.

Arc# 92382 -- "The S.P.I.D.E.R. and the Tyrant" -- Ninjas! Robots! Praetorians! It's totally epic! Play it now!

Arc # 316340 -- "Husk" -- Azuria loses something, a young woman harbors a dark secret, and the fate of the world is in your hands.

I think Fox has desensitized some us to how badly they're manhandling the X-Men franchise with X3 and Wolverine Origins. And First Class looks to continue the trend.

That's the prevailing fan theory I've read.

Aw geeze. I bet I know exactly what he is complaining about and it's probably the one thing I liked most about the pic. Several of the characters are actually in yellow and blue costumes. I absolutely hate that in the X franchise they insist on sticking everybody in black leather. The FF have their blue and white costumes. Spidey has his red and blue. But the X-Men are all stuck in black leather. I was hoping for some color and I'm now betting I'll be disappointed.

Ignore me, beaten to the punch nearly a page ago...

Still, Vaughn's passion is at least a little encouraging.

I believe the "Emma" in Wolverine is only called "Emma" within the movie and is credited as "Emma Frost" in the credits (and credits can easily be called in or out of canon). Add in the fact that she was whatsherface's sister in Wolverine, it is easy to discard that "Emma" for this one, especially since Wolverine Emma only showed The White Queen's secondary mutation...

...Which I think this one will as well, but hopefully also shows here telepathy as well.

I agree with this but...on the other hand, I like Matthew Vaughn as a filmmaker. I'm basically--like I do with pretty much all superhero films--thinking of this as an alternate dimension, "Elseworlds" type of story.

I plan on seeing this in the theatre, but I could really see it going either way as to whether or not it'll be any good.

I have a problem with judging movies based on previous content. Which is why I won't judge this based on any previous superhero movies or comics. I also consider every superhero movie to exist in a parallel dimension from the original comic. It also applies to within the same comic book series. There was a Batman from a parallel dimension that used guns and lived in the 30s and there is a Batman that lives in another parallel dimension that doesn't use guns and makes his life miserable because the criminals he puts away always break out and never learn.

The first step in being sane is to admit that you are insane.

I was already planning to skip this film, so I'll just add that to the heap of reasons.
I agree. I think that's the way they should of played it out as well.

Technically, we got his origin story in Wolverine.

Since this movie, chronologically, takes place before Wolverine, it makes sense he is not in it. Also, Havok is in it, so we may get a Cyclops mention.

This movie will probably be bad.

But if you go in with the idea that they should be making something that exactly copies the comic book mythology, then you're guaranteed to hate it even if it would have otherwise been good.

Just relax, and go in with the idea that it's a movie loosely based on the franchise. Doesn't have Cyclops? No problem. Emma Frost is too old? Doesn't matter. There are any number of things that make comic book movies bad in general, but deviating from the comic mythology is not one of them.

But it CAN be one of them.

I'm not a stickler for matching the continuity of the comics, but if a movie strays so far from it that the end product shares nothing with the source material besides a few character names, then I believe the movie HAS failed in some way.

Does this apply to 'First Class'?

Don't know yet. I'll watch it, but I have zero anticipation for it. The first two movies deviated from the comics and I had my share of problems with them. But I still enoyed them well enough.

Since 'Last Stand' and 'Wolverine' though, I've pretty much checked out on X-Men movies. I'm basically just hanging around till Marvel gets the film rights back.
