It's the Winter Lord bug - it was making it impossible for mixed teams to do the mission.

Well..they had people working, since its a likely bet that the deployment process isn't totally automated. Also, anyone in IT knows that with any deployment you run the risk of unintended consequences regardless of how 'trivial' the content is.

How to fix the 'No response from server' problem:
(This is for XP, Vista and 7 are similar, but call the CMD box something else)
Exit COX
Using Windows Explorer or hard disk browse, go to where your COX program is installed (like C:\Program Files\City of Heroes)
In the City of Heroes folder, find two files: one ends in PRV and one ends in CHECKSUM
Delete them
At Start, click Run. IN the box, type CMD
The Command Prompt black screen appears. In the command window, type :
IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS <--- notice the space before /

After it runs, type EXIT in the command window and the black screen goes away.
Restart COX
It will checksum and then fix the broken files
It will verify
And then you can log in

Patched earlier today, no problems logging on or switching,

5 mins ago- no response from this server. <infinity>


Ignoring anyone is a mistake. You might miss something viral to your cause.

And then you can log in
Its funny, I've done all that...and I played for a while. I logged out and a few hours later I went to login again.....

Connect
Client does an instantaneous download (way too fast, so my guess it's cached on my machine).
Applies the patch
and now I can't log in again.

I'm happy that there are work arounds, but it appears there's a misconfigured server somewhere (why some people don't have an issue, others do).

I just crashed out, and on restart loaded a second patch: now I've
got the "no response" as well.
Been on for about 4 hours prior to the second patch.
Bah.

I'm one of the "lucky" ones who isn't able to log in. The patch downloaded and applied without issue. Once the game starts, the "server not available..." message appears when you select a server.

I'm trying Crash's fix right now but what worries me is that my updater says V1800.xxxxx should it not be 1900?

So...I logged in this morning..it dl's a patch and lets me in...

I log in this afternoon...it dl's a patch and won't let me in....

Again, points back to a misconfigured server somewhere...

Interestingly enough, here's the number on my client:
v1800.201002171501.1

If I'm reading that right...its 2010 02 17....seems like the wrong month (02 vs 12).
Did a flush DNS, reconnected
Grabbed another patch (again, way too quick seems like its cached on my machine)
Applied
I can now login though the version number doesn't seem to change.
Logged out
Restarted client
no patch/no application
Can still login.

Probably a placeholder. I recall before the Halloween Event was first implemented teleporting to Nerva from my SG, and running into a male scientist calling himself "Granny Beldam".
