Help me watch the new Doctor Who in order.

Okay, so in this episode The Doctor says something along the lines of, "I've been told that I will hear 4 knocks before/when it's my time to die and I don't hear knocking, do you?"

I don't remember that ever being said. Which episode was that in? I did skip like 2 episodes in season 3 and 4 (maybe 2 even)....any clues (maybe I did see the episode it was said in but don't remember it)?
In "Planet of the Dead", the psychic lady on the bus tells the Doctor, "he will knock four times" and how this is related to the end of the Doctor.

This bit is resolved near the end of part 2 of "The End of Time"... just when you think it's over and done, and everything is fine...

So true... so very true. For me, in Season 3, the floodgates open for "Human Nature/Family of Blood." For Season 4, it's "Turn Left", "Stolen Earth," and "Journey's End." And I just sobbed almost nonstop through the last half of "The End of Time, Part 2."

But I'm a sap.

The prophesy was actually, "He will knock four times," and also included the line, "Your song is ending" (referring to what Ood Sigma told the Doctor in Season 4) and can be found at the end of "Planet of the Dead," the special that ran before "The Waters of Mars" aired.

Toldja it was important to watch 'em in order!

Eeek! Mention ye not the horror that is Toshwood. Or "Captain Jack's Throbbing Love Boat" as we call it in our household. Children of Earth was awesome but the rest of it can burn in the fires of development hell forever as far as I'm concerned.

Never seen the Sarah Jane Adventures but I'm not keen on the Whoniverse being 'kiddified'. I always thought Doctor Who trod a very good line between the young and the old. Still, can't judge till I've watched it.

And yes, the end of Season 2 is a heartbreaker. But nothing compared to what's to come.

Dammit, I miss Tennant.

I've only seen a couple episodes regarding Jack, but so far my opinion is that you shall not besmirch the name of Captain SexyFace.

Suprised no one said, "Hop into a Tardis and go back in time, because that's the only way you'll see a good portion of the Who continuum...".

Netflix categorizes pretty much most DVDs as "movies".
I think it's meant in a general rather than specific way.

The Sarah Jane Adventures is no more kiddy than Cartoon Network's live action series Unnatural History and Tower Prep, all three centered around a group of high school age teens and mysterious goings on.

Yes the computer Mr. Smith in SJA is a little hokey with it popping out of the wall but if you can accept sonic lipstick and K9 underfoot it's fine.

The good Captain undergoes a bit of a personality removal when he gets his own show, oddly enough. I don't rate much of Torchwood very highly at all.

However, Matt Smith is an excellent Doctor and Season 5 is as strong as any in modern Who, so it is worth the bumps in the road.

Agreed. As a supporting character, he was ace, especially when verbally sparring with Eccleston's Doctor. On his own, he became rather bland.

And thanks for the tip Father Xmas, I'll have to take a look, if only to see all the references.

EDIT: Bah! Double post. :@

Ah I remember seeing that Ood episode but don't remember him saying, "your song is ending." *shrugs*

Yeah, Torchwood season 1 was pretty crappy in comparison to Who and SJA, but had a few decent moments and did improve as it went on. Second series was much improved, still a little hoky at times but again, had a lot of good things in it, the ending was particularly harsh for instance

Children of Earth was awesome though!

And yes, PLEASE give SJA a try, honestly, it's excellent and far more fun the Torchwood ever managed

The movies are not an integral part of the story. They can be watched without the show and vice verse.
I assume you're talking of the TV movies like 'Waters of Mars'?

I beg to differ. Anyone who goes from the end of Stolen Earth to The Eleventh Hour is going to be mightily confused. The 'movies' can be watched without the show but I don't think it'd work too well the other way round.

Well, I personally find The End of Time close to unwatchable, not because it is sad, but because it is genuinely stupid, cloying in its attempts to emotionally manipulate the viewer. RTD was once a great character writer, but the rampant success of Who has indulged only his worst qualities. You still get great moments sometimes when he isn't paying attention (Midnight is almost as good as Blink, and the government scenes in the otherwise embarrassing Children of Earth are vestiges of an audacious and challenging mind) but the harder he tries to make the audience cry, the less attention he pays to ANY logical function of the plot. Melodrama and logic are not mutually exclusive in anything other than an RTD finale.
