Are TFs more or less fun for you now?
I've not found TFs in general to be very fun in the past, and I believe nothing has changed that will affect that.

This game is about killing (defeating) stuff. It's about enjoying doing so. Rewards are extra.
Sure we all want to get to the end cuz that's human nature but ultimately you've achieved nothing except waste a couple of hours in a virtual environment that means jack outside of the game.
Enjoy it for what it is

Oh my god, I cannot put into words how much I like endgame TFs now.
I'm one of those people that simply do not enjoy the speedrun/shortcut style of playing. It's cool if you do, to each their own, but it's never been my source of fun. My only problem was that speedruns were the norm. Now that everyone is crazy for shards, people actually wanna fight enemies! It's beautiful.
Though I do think that, especially now, it's important that TF leaders actually advertise what kind of TF they're doing so that everyone is on the same page. As much as I hate ending up on a speedrun TF, I fully sympathise with speedrunners who hate ending up on killing TFs. For that reason I always advertise my TFs as killing/shard-gathering TFs when I'm recruiting for them, and then once more when the team is full just so everyone knows what they're joining. I wish more leaders would do that.
Oh, and for the record, I'm all about kill-most but not fond of kill-all. Someone else in this thread already said it, but I also subscribe to the idea that if it stands between me and the mission goal, it dies. If it's out of the way, it gets to live.
tl;dr: Endgame TFs turned from something I do once on a blue moon to something I do several times a week.
Well for me TFs have by and large been a lot more fun since I19 dropped. I prefer kill-most-all style runs and with the shard drops now more and more people are running that way.

Read the Patriot newsletter. It's right, it's free.
I too enjoy smashing, kicking, shooting and stabbing everything that gets in my way. I'm glad more people are doing this.
Now if only they'd turn up the difficulty to something that would give the enemies some semblance of a fighting chance, I'd do more of them. Unfortunately you aren't rewarded better in terms of drops for fighting higher level stuff, so nobody wants to do it.

Run more TF's in the past week than I have in the past 6 months...all but the one i did today were a blast. Was a Khan, and for what ever reason, someone kept using their reveal map vet power as I was loading. Then all the melees would rush ahead and basically speed run it. I think I maybe was involved in 5 fights (not counting the end) that weren't me getting spotted and attacked by straggler mobs as I tried to catch up.
I didn't even *see* invincible Reichsman on the boomtown mission, or even any of the portals, same with the energy sources on the axis america map. And because they were 1/2 done by time I got in, *and* speeding through, I felt thoroughly gipped.

I've been running Taskforces as part of my regular activity for a very long time, but ever since I19 the frequency has increased significantly.
... and I love it! I'm having so much fun running all of these different TFs to get all the different goodies at the end of them!

I haven't run TFs for a long time, but I am keen to get into some again.
I am loving running TFs now.
I really hated the speed runs, it always gave me the sensation that I was only filling in the team, and that the only people that mattered were the 3 or 4 that were specialists on it.
And I am glad that the people that plays with me know me enough to know my playstyle, to know that I like to pounce my enemies.

Yes. I can get lost on a straight-line map.
I'm loving all the attention on TFs right now after joining certain Global Channels I'm usually teamed and on a TF within minutes. Sometimes with people I've teamed wiith before sometimes complete strangers and the socializing is far more fun for me shoot the breeze smack some mobs around.
The drops are all a nice extra on top of that and yes I have dropped at least one purple recipe on about 8/10 that I have taken part in. I used to avoid PUGs and TFs because of the speed runs as the mentality seemed to be get there get it done seeya. Now there's a lot more interaction people talking about previous wins/fails and generally having a good laugh, even when supporting a player having trouble adjusting to new techniques involved in the new Alpha TFs.
This is what the game is supposed to be "Fun!" okay if you like to solo/farm/pvp/etc thats your thing, me I don't get out as much as I used to and having a group of people to talk to and have a common goal that's a big "Thumbs Up!"

More fun. Zoning into every mission to hear one guy go "Okay, you folks stay there, I'm going to go click the glowy and kill the hostages" got boring after... oh, about one week. This newfangled 'fighting' thing has really helped draw me back into the game, actually. I can get teams that do stuff! How novel is that?!
Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.
Don't get me wrong I like the idea of a small group infiltrating a base or what have you and going in and stealthily executing their plan and getting away with it. It's a fun plot line to many stories.
I am just too greedy to enjoy that alone.
A lot more, since people are getting what they want from just running it, never mind even compleating it so it is a lot more good humored and laid back.
I joined the Apex TF for the first time, the leader was already experienced, giving out orders and plans. The last mission I entered right as he said dont enter, then got chewed out for it, some badger on the team swore up and down if she didnt get all the badges that she'd do something to me, that wasnt nice. That got me angry, almost quit but didnt. The heat was taken off me after the other tank didnt get the concept of moving from the blue stuff and kept dying.
So Im left wondering, how I can make TFs fun again. |
I lead TFs often and I've had to tell people to chill out and remember it's a game more than once. That badger who wanted to get "all the badges"? I would have told her, "You don't need to get them all in one run. If you don't get them this run, you can try some other time." I am very clear with everybody that I play the game to have fun; in every Master TF run with the old method (no deaths, no temps) I always stated before we enter, "I'm setting this to Master: if we get it, great; if we don't, also great."
So, TFs have not been any less fun for me, and if a TF makes me feel frustrated, I just don't do that one.

Thanks to @EnsonsDeath for the GVE code that made me VIP again!
TFs are more fun for me now, because I only ever team with friends and now more friends want to run TFs! Plus, on the high level TFs, it's so much fun seeing "Incarnate Shard Bonded" pop up! I've run 3 TFs/week since I19 released.
