Yes, very true.

Not really, you see the people not looking for a 'Forum Battle' sent me Private Messages in the forums. I will refuse to name names because I wish to keep the angry mobs away from them.

As for your tactics and reply above? You don't have to "know them personally," but there are better ways to recruit that will get you better people and a longer lasting SG. For instance, run some missions with them. See if they get along with your or not, then ask if they want to join the supergroup. That way, *they* should have an idea that it's not just some prestige farm they'll get kicked out of, and you'll know you're not getting someone you'll end up kicking a day later because they're getting on everyone else's nerves (or coming in to find they've cleared out your enhancements/salvage and sold it on the market.)

Alternately - even though it *can* be annoying, an occasional broadcast telling what your SG is, what they're interested in and that they're recruiting isn't that bad - I prefer it over getting blind SG invites, though I don't tend to reply to them.

And there's always the server boards down below. Mention you're starting an SG, what it's about, etc. and see who bites.
I do generally recruit when im hosting a team or something but I still don't see much wrong with giving levels 1-10 A fully functioning base, friendly players, and my personal help of course that's just me.

So if Hot Head Mike is on Virtue, I imagine he's on my ignore list. But not because I have any kind of opinion about him. Certain MMORPG realities were not new to me, long even before I came here a year and a half ago. None of this ever chaps my hide anymore. My ignore filter takes care of everything. It's a knee jerk reaction.

Since I'm on Liberty I will never run the treacherous "Hey Need a SG?" into you. So that's a good thing in my opinion so I don't end up assaulting your mental state by those 'extremely annoying words'

I am how ever glad that you restrain yourself from acting like a jerk to SG recruiters.

Well my attitude on this thread may be a bit unflattering. I suppose you may get like that when fighting of the army of angry forumites.

They can't seem to understand just how close knit the player communities are especially on the low pop servers.
I understand the communities are knit together, that is why I join Liberty's popular channels. No, I don't think 'the server is dead' just the PvP, of course we all know why that's dead.

Why would I want to join an SG that has no requirements at all for entrance? Groups that actively recruit like this typically have a bad reputation if they have one at all.
I always felt that little survey the real 'legit' SGs force on you to be tedious.

Yes they were in a SG already, which if you weren't just blindly sending out unsolicited invites to anyone level 10 or below you would have known.

That's the same logic I get from telemarketers.
"If you don't want my product just hang up."
"If you don't like my email just delete it."

You sir are a spammer. I have no pity for you, and find it amusing you got your feelings hurt enough to start a thread about it.

I think you're confusing cause and effect here.

[Tell] -->: Don't have to be a d!ck I send messages to lvls 1-10 about the SG
[Tell] : LOL, spamming for a SG members...Sorry, bub, I guess some have to do what the have to do.
[Tell] -->: Spamming? Sending messages is 'spamming' most people i see like being asked b4 they get invited
[Tell] : sure, there a lots of 14y/o tha daddy is paying their account that would love the invite
[Tell] : ok, ok, I'll leave it be. good luck, bub
[Tell] -->: **** off bro
[Tell] : boy, if you had taken a few minutes to see if I had an SG before spamming you would be all upset now, would you?buggar off, bub
[Tell] -->: And were back to spamming, Let me ask you did i send you like 10 messages to join my SG? NO. I sent you one. That is not spamming - that is a general question

I admit I got a bit out of hand with my responses but I just hate sarcastic jerks

Oh and also, who here calls asking someone to join your SG threw a tell 'Spamming'?
If it were me I would be pissed at you too. To me this is just as annoying as a telemarketer. When I do spam for SG recruits I shout in broadcast 1x per zone. There is no reason to go begging individually like that.

hey mike, you do know that you can respond to everyone i a giant post instead of doing it how you are doing which is in violation of the forum rules?

aside from that, it was rude of you to continue on a conversation when the person did not want to join your sg. and it is not acceptible to just hit anyone who is lv 1-10 with a tell just asking if they want to join an sg. i know an vg that did this and i think they have been put on everyones ignore list. it probably didn't help that they did it to the same people up to 3 times a day, but i think you should be able to get the point.

In my line of thought a broadcast is more intrusive then a tell. Think about it. Everyone is seeing the broadcast. The broadcast is longer which then takes up more of your chat bubble, and I assume that pisses people off. So really I see your moderate spam to be much more intrusive then my classic 3 word tells.

Oddly enough, if you keep multi posting, like you have been, (you do know there is a multi quote button, right?) the moderators may lecture you on exactly what spam is and tell you to knock it off. Unlikely but possible.

Bah I read to the third page and Sharker already beat me to the punch by 6 minutes!

Had no idea it violated forum rules, its just easier to put out your responses that way.

Anyways previously said I send one tell. One tell only. If that offends you think of it as a personal broadcast which is not real long and drawn out.

To the following:

Chaos Creator: Yeah you got beat to the punch no longer will I multi-post

LISAR: I don't want pity nor do I want your opinion at all really. You see our part of the conversation is just incoherent garbage, back and forth 'It is spam' 'It isn't'

Leif_Roar: Ok so "Need a SG?" makes you want to blacklist? THEN GO RIGHT AHEAD AND DO IT

I would rather see a nicely worded, descriptive recruiting message in broadcast then get hit with a tell that says "want an sg". At least with the broadcast message, it gives people a chance to see what the group is about and let's them make the choice if they want to join or not. When you just get a short tell, it makes people feel uncomfortable and not want to join an sg.

Incoherent? Did I use words too large for you? It's the word "unsolicited" isn't it.

I understand. You can't follow the conversation. I was not aware I had crossed your cognitive threshold and would be more then willing to simplify any points you couldn't work out.

Ugh this is purely ranting, sarcasm, & flame bait now.
