It's a shame all the mezzes are spread around. I like to get +recharge on my mm's so I will probably go Spiritual Core. Please discuss.

I've been wondering what the hell to slot in my MM. Do the pets inherit the Alpha slot benefits?

My understanding is that they should, the Alpha Slot applies additional enhancement to each slot rather than global bonuses. I haven't had a chance to check it on the test server though.

If that is the case I'll be going for either Musculature or Spiritual on my MM. Musculature in particular seems like a nice option simply because compared to other ATs MMs have fewer options for increasing their damage though IOs. I can add recharge IO bonuses in to give me more uptime on Traps powers but this doesn't help my pets deal more damage (excluding the obvious fact that having Acid Mortar up more means more resistance debuffs). Once the Rare and Very Rare options open up the Musculature Radial tree seems nice since you can get damage and endurance reduction.

I just hope down the line with the other 9 slots they have enough foresight to make it benefit more of the ATs instead of a select few. Currently with IOs the only thing I ever slot are the +defense/resists IOs and at level 50 the chance for build up IO. All other set bonuses and such are worthless in the big scheme of things since it does nothing to help the pets.

While i'll agree that most of the set bonuses suck for MMs, things like +HP, +regen, +recovery, +end, +rech, and the aura IOs are very much useful. even +acc is ok, as it'll affect most of your secondary. +dam is pretty much wasted, as is some of the other things

Something I haven't looked for yet so figured I would ask on here: Do the alpha slot bonus' work for any level 50 content? Or just incarnate stuff?

But I think I feel defence bonus' being awarded to most of my toons, depending what challenges await us.

The boost does not work with summoned powers, which includes lots of secondaries too, but that is NOT working as intended so it will work eventually.

However, even if they did, spiritual boosts won't buff summon recharge, unless those powers are given access to recharge enhancement (which I would like, as a way to slot the recharge intensive buffs).


A game is not supposed to be some kind of... place where people enjoy themselves!

Well that sucks. Guess I be using the recharge one until they fix it (I know the recharge doesn't affect pets, I just want more recharge for my traps)

Been trying to figure it out, but I just don't have a clue. I really, really, really hope i19 comes with a easier way to respec then what is currently out. I'm not sure if I am going to use Alpha to improve a current set like damage or shore up something I might be lacking in..

Excitement over will be playing my melee and support toons for incarnate abilities. I hope mm's get a better deal someday.

once you unlock it, incarnate powers can be used with any lvl 50 content, it will not work when exempt though

I am looking at picking up the recharge one for my Bots/traps mainly so my traps are up more often. I am interested in the one that helps defense/taunt/stun ( at least I think that is what it is ) for when I am tankerminding. More defense better taunting and with seeker drones and my protector bots photon grenades the maybe taking photon grenade for myself to throw around improved stuns.

99% sure this is incorrect. Pets of all types (mastermind and otherwise, including psudeo-pets like Rain of Fire) have been working just fine for a long time. Of course, MM pets still don't benefit from Recharge of any sort, but that's a different issue.

Most MMs I expect would do well with Musculature, but I've been thinking about taking the Accuracy one, because it'll boost my /Force Fields. Plus the Accuracy will effectively free one slot on each of my pets, which will be worth something at least. I could slot a proc in there, or add a different Aura, or just move a slot elsewhere.


Speaking of slotting, if you're having trouble figuring out what IO Sets to take, look at +Recovery. I don't take Stamina on my /FF, so when I moved her over to the Beta server at the start of open beta, I got Stamina immediately and I was in heaven. Let me tell you, Stamina plus a bucket-load of +Recovery from IO sets is possibly the most wonderful thing you will ever experience. Run every toggle you can think of, use your powers liberally, yet still have lots of Endurance. It was truly one of the most fun things I've ever done.


Also, the Incarnate boost apparently works down to level 45 right now, due to the way Exemplaring works. This is not exactly WAI, but might not be changed either. Stay tuned.

Well this, at least, is WAI. Pets are not supposed benefit from recharge (IIRC it was screwing up the AI for some pets).

I've become a big fan of Demons, and they tend to be massive endurance hogs so the Cardiac line looks nice. Cardiac Radial gives 33% endurance reduction and 20% damage resist, both of which the demons can use. It will also really help keep my blue bar from tanking during combat resummons.

Spiritual also looks nice for secondaries with long recharge powers. It won't help the pets much, but quicker recharging Painbringer, Forge on an additional pet, or more Acid mortars out at once will be nice.

Yes, I know. The rest of it though is fine. Alpha slots boost damage, or accuracy, or endurance reduction, or hold times, etc. of all you pets simultaneously just fine, plus all of your other powers too.

The only folks having problems are Khelds and Doms. Masterminds are good.

I'm currently running a Necro/Dark/Soul.

Recharge does little for me, Endurance isn't a problem, I run full-slotted tactics from leadership which stacks with IO slotting to make hitting even +4s no problem, and while I have a slew of secondary effects...They aren't the type that I'd invest heavily in beyond what I already have.

If the damage enhancement doesn't work with my pets, then the bulk of this content is all but useless for me.

dmg would work for pets because you can slot dmg enhances into pet summons

The damage enhancement definitely works on your pets. If you don't need anything else, then +Dam is a great way to go.

The only bugs right now are Khelds and Doms. Everything else is working. Well, and 2nd build, but that's recent.

I think for my MM I'm going Musculature. I'm Bots/Dark, and I already handle GM's and AV's with relative ease. So I don't really need to worry about the control issue. I don't have to worry about endurance. So, what's better than more power? Nothing... Damage increase, Immobilization increase, and Defense Debuff increase...? Damn right I'm going Musculature.
