Solo TFs and more

Somewhere in the near future

"To form a task force, you need six or more heroes in your group.

You need at least 6 members on your team, all of them at least Level 25. If they are over Level 30, they will be automatically exemplared to Level 30 for the duration of the Task Force."

I look at our little team. Too small indeed, but we're all lvls 31 and up. Any of us could start this Task Force alone, but today, we feel like doing it with just three people.

I click
I think we can manage it, Citadel.

And then, the TF proceeds normally. Pity there's no special dialogue, but well, that'd be a lot of unnecessary work for the devs.

Of course, the option only showed up because we, indeed, can. Hell, one of us is an Incarnate with a unlocked and filled Alpha Slot. He could solo-start the ITF or the STF if he felt like it. And, of course, he felt he could pull it off, since it'd spawn as if he was a team of eight, since that's the minimum needed to start normally.

Same here. For the three of us, Citadel's Task Force will spawn for six - unless I feel we're doing good enough, and raise our difficulty above x4, since it'll spawn for our actual modified team size if it's larger than the TF's minimum.

But, well. Council, here we come!

/signed. The broken Task Force mechanics have needed a fix for a long time. People should be able to start solo TF if they want.

this would make starting a duo tf that me and my friend do regularly much more convenient instead of needing 4-6 pads to start

Id like it.
Even if the SF spawned = to w/e the current min is.

If people are willing to face AVs despite being shorthanded, why not?

No objection here.

Also agreed. It's silly in this day & age where we have difficulty settings up to +4/x8 that we still can't start a TF without having 6 or more players. I have several friends I'd love to duo TF's with, but it is a hassle to get enough padders to start them up in the first place.

There's a badge waiting to happen.
ONE MAN ARMY: Complete every task force alone.

Total agreement, and I love the "One Man Army" badge idea too!

/signed. I like the "I think we can manage" line, especially.

That's not a one man army, that's just a bunch of guys getting together to beat people. That's an ad on Craig's List.

BTW Who is Craig why should we give a **** about the list he made?

I do love the "I think we can manage".

I can picture it being said in quite the sarcastic manner by the team leader.

Though I would like the option for the Manticore Taskforce to additionally add if you've done it before.

"Seriously, I think we can handle the big gorilla in a suit, he isn't that tough!"

Hopkins...one of the worst ending AVs known to mankind...

And then the "DUDE(ETTE) YOU FREAKIN' ROCK!!!" for when you complete each every Task Force as a Master/Mistress of at +4 /x8 solo.

I'd go with..... "Taskmaster Incarnete".

right now if you get pads to start something like an ITF, and everyone quits before the first mish, then the mish will auto adjust in difficulty to match diff of the leader

the mishs of the tf work basically the same as any other mish, except that AVs are always turned on

I want to be able to start TFs alone, but I think adding a badge for completing TFs alone is not a good idea. How are people with Emp/Elecs or something to that effect supposed to get these badges without having to tear their hair off? It'll just effectively lock some people out of getting the badges on their badgers.

I'd rather have the badge awarded for TFs you do under the current minimum team size. That way it's a bit better balanced between ATs and builds.

I think "don't have to look for pads" vs. "fight the TF at a larger team size" is a fair tradeoff.

[edit]Maybe a whole line of badges?

Army of One - Complete a Task Force solo
Power of Two - Complete a Task Force as a duo
Rule of Three - Complete a Task Force for four or more players with a team of three.
Four is Death - Complete a Task Force for five or more players with a team of four.
??? - Complete a Task Force for six or more players with a team of five.
??? - Complete a Task Force for seven or more players with a team of six.
Lucky Seven or Magnificent Seven - Complete a Task Force for eight players with a team of seven.

[edit2] You know, I think those badges would be simple to implement, using the same mechanism as the Challenge badges.

I'd also be happy to see this implemented (Not sure about the badges, but wouldn't) complain.

Certain TFs would still require a certain minimum, or would have to be changed before this could be done, specifically the Cavern of Transcendence and certain Shard TFs.

Ooh, good point.

My one complaint with my own suggestion is that I don't see a spot to slip in an information screen as to when you can or cannot Manage It. My goal was to make the option transparent when not available.

Personally, I'd append information about Managing It to the "you have too few players" screen, but, should it be there only if you indeed can?

Positron's first badge in the two part Taskforce is Rule of Three. Alternative name? The Trifecta.
And for these two:
Party of Five - Complete a Task Force for six or more players with a team of five.
Strength in Numbers - Complete a Task Force for seven or more players with a team of six.

And an aloccade for doing all that.
Taskforce Teamplayer: Obtain the following badges: Army of One, Power of Two, The Trifecta, Four is Death, Party of Five, Strength in Numbers, and Lucky Seven.
