Praetorian Invasion Event?
I'd love this!

This isn't the theme of the Apex TF? Buh? o.O
Goodbye. Not to the game, but the players. Goodbye. Everyone, remember to have fun. That's all I can say.

I am sick and tired of "invasions." Have been sick and tired of invasions for years now. I don't want another copy-paste invasion with palette swapped spawns that revolves around a massive lag-fest mosh pit. This is easily the worst part of the entire game, by far. Not only is it boring, but it's so much "fun" to have a Banner event remove all street spawns from a zone, making that hunt mission in that zone you needed to advance your story arc practically impossible to complete for quite a while.
If they want to make more events, they should be less brain-dead than just spawning lots of enemies and shouting "Round 1! Fight!" Steel Canyon fires are a good example.

I'm in agreement with Sam here. I've found the Zombie invasions ranging from "Annoying" (for my level 32 BS/Fire scrapper who was Trick or Treating in Talos) all the way down to "Great, now the zone is unplayable for me" (for my new KM/Shield scrapper in Nova Praetoria) over the weekend.
They seriously need to scale those zombies down properly for anyone under level 10 somehow. It's just a bloodbath in Nova Praetoria and makes doing things like trying to level up a nightmare, not to mention waiting outside a mish for the rest of the PuG to assemble. So many Praetorian missions have weird twists to them going inside to wait can be a bad idea in case you trigger a 5 minute countdown or something.
Banners I find less annoying, mainly because I don't run Hunt missions, if I'm forced into one I'll auto-complete it instead.
Edit : The automated invasions are still better than the hopeless lagfests that are the Mod run "Invasion Events" though. Those are pitiful and really show how dodgy the game code can be.
Nah I don't like invasions already and that will be in the new TFs

Maybe instead of a full-on Invasion, it should be an Expeditionary Force or Recon Party, and only disrupting a portion of a zone, rather than the whole thing.
Those who have Hunt missions in thier story arc or godforbid thier TF can go to the other side of the zone and still complete it.
"Dimensional Disturbance in <zone>!" A Portal (Mega-sized object, no direct attacks, summons spawns, has lots of HP) is placed on the map. Normal spawns within X distance are replaced by Preatorian Critters.
What about a separate instance of the zone being invaded, accessible via the train?
"Invasive Activity detected in Powtown! Board the nearest train to participate! Or don't!"
Or even a little pop up thingee like a team invitation that, if you click to accept, sends you to the invasion area.
Should the devs ever do a Praetorian Invasion zone event. Have it set up like last years winter event. Portal shows up, anyone interested jumps in, and zone into the event zone. Those that don't want to can just ignore the portal and go about their business.

An invasion event wouldn't be bad if it were not like the current invasion events but more of a new GM spawn that takes place in different zones. Currently if a Zombie or Rikti event happens then there is no safe place in the entire zone. Wherever you are the fight comes to you with the exceptions of indoors or under cover. A proper Praetorian event should pop up at one location only like the GM spawns do. A portal pops up and PPD pop out and set up a perimeter. If they aren't defeated then they just hang around. If they are then a tougher wave comes out. If that goes down and etc...
Final stage, a War Walker comes out. If defeated then then event ends. If not then it begins to patrol the zone. It could follow a set path like the Rikti bombers that is set to avoid the player gathering locations like city hall, tram, Wentworths and such. While the walker is patrolling the zone is considered under Praetorian control. The billboards are replaced with their counterparts and clockwork begin showing up and cleaning.
So this gives us something that is good for players and the game. A new GM which just happens to be a giant robot. Plus it would give players who haven't purchased GR a sneak peak at what it's like. They can see and fight the PPD, Praetorian Clockwork, and a War Walker.
The code for the increasingly tough multiple spawns followed by the GM is already in use in Croatoa. The GM which spawns then leaves its location for another one is already in use in KR.
And there is already a separate forum for suggestions which this thread should probably be moved to.
Don't count your weasels before they pop dink!
The Devs mentioned at the NYC Comic Con that they have a new tool that makes creating zone events easier so I expect we will get more of them.
I'm all for a new invasion event. They're epic!

If they have to have invasions, why don't they hold them in the Underwater Zone, or maybe on the Moon Base?

They could make them like the Siren's Call hotspots, so there'd be a battle between Vanguard and Tyrant's forces that players could join in on, rather than it being just a straight fight between players and invasion spawns.
There could be an invasion portal that spawns in the zone, with a warning and a short countdown timer, and during that time Vanguard forces would arrive, either from the nearest building doors or just by being TPed in, and then once the timer was at zero, the invasion forces would start entering through the portal.
They could also add RV-style morphing scenery during and after the battle, if they felt like rewriting all the zones to have that tech in them

I am torn on this one. On one end I am sick of zombies(even in real life), Halloween events, random presents during X-Mas and banners but love the Ritki attacks. I guess what I am saying is, if they have a good premise and story behind it like the Praetorians and Ritki then I really do not see a problem with an invasions because we know why and there are story arcs do go along with them. All the other "events feel as tho they are thrown at us with no reason or story behind it thus feel blah and really should go the way of the Dodo.
But on a side note: Zone created areas that was suggested would cut down on lag and separate those who want to participate and those who want to avoid "events" like the plaque.

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.
Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.
So sad to be ending ):
I like the alt train location idea. It might become like the hami raid where you can get lagged off and not able to rejoin - assuming a full zone.

They could do it so when you go from the door of IP into Steel, you get the option for "Steel Canyon" or "Steel Canyon: Crisis" Or something like that. So it'd be just like going to another zone, you wouldn't need to do it from the train, you could do it from any zone, Ouro, RWZ, Train, Direct Zone connection etc.

So... We got zombie events, Rikti, Deadly Apocolypse. It occurs to me that with the upcoming Praetorian invasion, it'd be cool to have Praetorian invasion events, like Rikti etc. Portals could open up in zones, praetoria IDF, ClockWork, War Works, War walkers etc could come pouring out for people to fight!
Not sure if it is going to be a part if I19 but it should be!
