That depends on who you're talking to, at least for some of us the size of a characters breasts is inversely proportional to the quality of RP to be expected out of them

Right:
Cinderella had Prince Charming.
Sleeping Beauty had Prince Phillip
And B&tB never specified the prince's name.

I did it that way so people who have no idea whatsoever could connect character to film.

One of my favorite IC quotes from one of my characters has to do with a reference to another toon with huge boobs.

Quote:
Gu Qin's Blade: Your mutual dislike is annoying.
Gu Qin's Blade looks between the two women.
Apache Devil arches an eyebrow, "What are you yammering about tights?"
Dancing Rose: Who dislikes who now?
Apache Devil thumbs at Rose, "Who Tits? Pffft no problem here."
Gu Qin's Blade looks over to Tits.
Apache Devil: Did think she was gonna give the red hair an aneurysm *snorts and takes a sip of the whiskey*
Gu Qin's Blade: Director Cherry?
Dancing Rose: Varn.
Gu Qin's Blade: ... Ah. The strange one.
Apache Devil: Yeah heard you lot found em... mostly in one piece while I was gone.
Gu Qin's Blade: I was not there.
Dancing Rose: I was throwin' it at him, teasingly. He got uncomfortable, butch here saved him.
Apache Devil: Ain't like he wanted it.
Dancing Rose: No...s'pose not.....still was fun.
Apache Devil: Most men need savin' from themselves, specially when weapon grade ta tas are involved. That **** goes against the geneva convention.

But to keep things more on topic:

Even though the majority of online game players are men, even though men love to look at big breasts, even though men will always want to roll female characters with enormous breasts...

There has not been a single "the character creator will not let me make my female character's breasts as big as I'd like" complaint in the whole time this game has existed.

This isn't even a "representation of female characters" issue. This is a "level of character customization" issue.

Personally, I think your friend just has issues and is projecting them onto you.

I do actually thing that in most MMOs they tend to make 'the girls' a bit to large. However, in super hero universes, this actually fits the genre. Comics are full of rediculously top heavy women in skimpy costumes that would never stay up if they were sitting still, much less actively fighting crime. Sometimes that gets lampshaded, but most of the times I think that's just what the artists want and what they think the fans one. After all we are swamped with media telling us 'bigger is better'.

Mind you, I'm absurdly skinny with nearly no boobs myself... to me a C cup seems big... Most of my characters therefore tend to be on the scrawny side myself. I rarely have them as big as 50%, and most of the time the slider goes way left, if not all the way down. I have one character (technically two, but it's two versions of the same person) who I deliberately made huge, but she based her physical form off those 'Devil Girl' arts from the 50s. Absurdly huge butt and breasts and tiny waist. She's meant to be a joke like that. She's also amazonian huge at about 7 1/2 feet tall...

Mostly though, I'd tell your friend to get over it. She's ahem... 'Making mountains out of molehills'

SG Mate: Cien, what the hell is this Rookery thing?
RadDidIt: (interjecting) Dude. It's the Rookery.
SG Mate: Yeah, but what IS it?
RadDidIt: Silliness Incarnate.

You need to get your facts straight.

The 2010 Entertainment Software Association Essential Facts About the Computer and Video Game Industry

According to those statistics, 60% of video gamers are male, and 40% are female. That's not really that big of a majority. Furthermore, according to the same statistics,

"WOMEN age 18 or older represent a significantly greater portion of the game-playing population (33%) than boys age 17 or younger (20%)."

In contrast to what you're describing, I've seen a vast majority of older men (age 17+), both in RL and in various video games that prefer proportional breasts to over-sized breasts.

Also, men don't always want to roll female characters with enormous breasts. If that was the case, we wouldn't see such wide variety of characters in CoH with various genders, body sizes, races, etc.

There has not been -many- complaints that the character creator won't let people make bigger breasts because people like you would get offended and start bashing on them if someone ever does complain about why he can't make bigger breasts. If there is a limitation, there are people who want to go over that limitation. In this case, going over it is considered "perverted" by the norm of society.

I'm not saying that's wrong. It's also fact that there has to be a line to how far the developers want us to go in designing characters.

And it really isn't a "representation of female characters" issue. That's what we've been trying to say. But that contradicts with your earlier posts about a society where women have to constantly fight against being objectified and whatnot. Which to me sounds absolutely like a load of chocolate pudding, because if you're a person living in a developed nation/country, and you're complaining about women being objectified cause men can make characters with big boobs, when there are women being treated as 'toys' and 'property' in real-world situations in developing countries (I lived in one of them for 9 years) then you need to just focus your feminist rage at something that actually matters instead of picking on peoples' fantasies in a video game (again, by 'you', I'm referring to general opposition, not the person I'm replying to).

Meh I'm not a fan of statistics, I just get to know all sorts of people from both sexes that play games and that's where I draw my own conclusions. I do agree, in this day and age that gap is that much smaller because the technology is becoming more and more of an influence to our household entertainment systems. It's only natural, a girl who grows up on comics will become a comic fan just the same as any boy; it's entirely based upon how these appliances get in the hands of said youth.

That being said, for the topic at hand. I really don't care either way, sure it's tantalizing but I'm a "let bygones be bygones" kind of guy. What so and so does with their character is completely up to them. If they want to roll a female avatar with flat chests and claim they're a feminine male... more power to them.

Honestly, more and more I am thinking my friend Kevin (who despises her and how she always talks down to me on this and similar issues) might be right, maybe I should just tell her to F off permanently, but I'm not the type of person to do that.
Explain again why you're friends with this person, your sure it's not your wife? Sounds like a wife, or a lot of work.

Breasts are nice, large breasts are nice, but there is a real limit what looks good in the COH models. I try to make my female characters bodies fit their styles and back ground. My 7 foot tall, sword swinging, calorie burning, lean/rangy scrapper has very small (I'd take it the slider farther left if I could) breasts simply because of low body fat. My gymnastic, martial arts fighter also has a very small build. My statuesque villian gun fighter who used to be a wild west model and prostitue whose costume includes the leather bustier under a duster is middle of the road (though I was suprised how big that setting was when I removed the jacket), but so are her hip sliders, her shoulder sliders, her physique sliders, and her waist sliders are also in proportion. People come is different sizes, enjoy.

Now, a word on breasts in general, large, pert and young have lots to offer, so do small perky, and responsive. Just enjoy and get over the fact that men like em and some objectifcation is going to happen. We all treat objectifcation like it's a bad thing, it's not in the appropiate context, it's nature. I mean come on it's not like woman aren't free to do the same thing.

Nice job with the stereotyping there.
AHHAHAHAHAHAHAAH

Wow, that was easy, I'll be under my bridge now. Thanks kid.

Seriously though, harpy wives were usally come from wound to tight, no fun harpy single woman who can't take a joke and complain about the size of the breasts on their friends COH cartoons. Really they do. I know the dumb, white, dad, in a sitcom is the only acceptable sterotype anymore, just don't agree.

I've actually met more ****** single women (and temporary girlfriends) than I ever have wives. Of course, you might be speaking from personal experience; the wife a harpy-shrew at home? No wonder you're jaded.

There are plenty of men wound just as tightly wound who tend to be controlling and manipulative of women. Point is, you made an incorrect generalization. Being a manipulative control freak with insecurity isn't specific to a certain gender.

Oh. I figured it out. NM.

Clearly a hot button issue for you if you're offended, mm not sorry, but I understand. It's a joke, sterotypes are not all bad, if OP were talking about his buddy I'd be making a reference to a granola eating, guitar playing, soft scumbag like the guy in Animal House whose guitar gets crushed by Bluto.

You and I will never have a serious conversation on this issue, because we'll never meet, and simply it's not that important of a topic. Even if we did, I can script that converstaion out for you

You:" Both men and woman can be control freaks, I hate that"
Me: "Yep that type sucks"

The End

The person the OP is refering too does sound like a little too much work to me though, male or female, they must offer other things as a friend.

Arrgh!

Kitty, if you have a empty character slot, give your RL friend a challenge...

Make a little girl character and use the sliders...

I guarantee it will drive her bananas - it did when I first tried to make a child character...Played with sliders, made her legs smaller, but no matter what, she looked like she needed a little more than a training bra....

So finally slapped a martial arts robe on her (one of the dressy ones) and a skirt..just to hide that her figure was a little..um..more mature than it should be...

That is what I do for little girl toons.

For adolescent toons, I use the slender model, and usually shoot for the look of a ballet dancer...and I always go towards the left to shrink...go towards the right and she will look like a stripper!

I do have a few athletic ones, they are usually legal adults, eg: Oryo Ryou, Kami Megami and so on..

And men still say I don't have enough breast meat on them! Or as one friend put it.."They're super-heroines...they need to look superheroic!"

Maybe so, but it doesn't mean that my back has to hurt looking at them....and yes, I am a RL female!

Can you please tell me why you are friends with her? Because I say you just one-star and /ignore and get it over with.

If she finds a way to keep harassing you about it, you could even be in your rights to /petition, but hopefully you won't have to do anything more than a brief explanation and an ignore.

Good luck!

To stick squarely to the topic and avoid the immature drama between the OP and the mysterious potential harpie woman that is the actual impetus of this thread...

A short and straight answer:
Too big?
Nah... But the slider doesn't go small enough.

One other quick thing... I understand the jokes about the amount of RP in relation to the breast slider scales... But I'm sure you know that no such thing should ever be taken in 100% seriousness.
I also have female friends, including my wife, who play and do not stick to the left side of the slider.
I made one female character (I actually designed her for a female friend to play, at her request [I haves mad character creator skillz!! j/k) and she is intentionally designed to look somewhat like a gorgeous and voluptuous female model/centerfold-type.
She was a bookworm unhappy plane-Jane who delved with some magic to get back at someone who jilted her and transformed into a sort of malevolent Aphrodite temptress.

Expect poor Role-Play from that character and you'll be pleasantly surprised (If you give her the chance).

As the platypus instructs us... Allow for all exceptions!
