Who is Red Tomax?

Is there a history of the Red Tomax website and the people who started the project?

Now I'm wondering if theres a history written up of hero stats, mids and (I feel bad I can't remember the name) the people who put out the map packs?

David Parker a/k/a Red Tomax made one of the best sources of information about City of Heroes/Villains. Sadly, he has left the game, but the wonderful folks at Titan Network have taken over the site and updated the "City of Data" part.

You can find the site HERE. It has a little bit of information on David himself.

LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)

The map pack is Beef Cake. Beef is legendary.

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

He's what's for dinner.

BTW does anyone remember that thread a few years back where Red Tomax was used in the place of Jack Bauer or Chuck Norris in how tough he is?

Bah, you'll just say anyone is legendary...

I want to say Mids was started by Midnighter and he was an EU player, but I could be wrong. The about section has a list of the guys developing it and the copyright for it.

I cannot express my appreciation enough for all the people responsible for making and upkeeping Paragonwiki, Vidiotmaps, Badge hunter, Mids, etc.

They're real heroes of the game.

Damn straight. And I'll never forget my original PM to TonyV about the wiki: "Yeah, it's a great idea...but it'll NEVER WORK, MAN."

I don't think anyone has ever eaten their words more happily, every single day I play this game.

This could be the start of a bad bromance!

But yes, Red Tomax, Mids, Beef Cake, and everyone else involved in creating and maintaining the community resources deserves all sorts of praise and free baked goods. (Or mead, depending on preference.)

The map pack is Beef Cake's now, but even he took it over at one point. I don't remember who started vidiotmaps and the map packs, but it was around long before Badge Hunter started.

They're real heroes of the game.
The people who collate the data and put it on sites are great, but I have more admiration for the people who spend hours upon hours in closed beta
"discovering" the locations and conditions for things the devs don't disclose.

Not downing the people who make the sites, but in most cases the grunt work is done before you see any of them pop their head's up in beta, and the folks who did that are the one's who make it possible for the information to be out there for everyone at release or soon after.

I won't name names because my memory isn't good enough. I'd be leaving too many hard workers out.

I also hate to name names because I know I will forget more people than I remember.

Then there are the people on the forums that answer the questions and welcome the new players and that mentor project group and so on.

Lots of helpful people here are part of what anchors me to the game.

I'll go ahead and say that all the user-made resources make City of Heroes a far better game than it would be just on its own. I don't know if they're all unified under the Titan Network now, but I WILL say that the work these folks do for the benefit of the game can sometimes rival that of the actual development team in terms of how much of a difference it makes.

Gotta add my kudos to everyone that's added so much to the game. Herostats.... Badge-Hunter.... Titan Network... VirtueVerse (Even though I'm a liberty native, I LOVE reading that stuff). Awesome, and greatly appreciated.

Now for my pitch:

JOIN THEM.

I'm not associated with ParagonWiki. but, for as much use as I've gotten out of the site, I really feel like I should be contributing to it. I refuse to use my lack of time as an excuse any longer. There are Going Rogue stories and contacts that still need fleshing out... and I19 is around the corner, adding even more to be updated.

Consider contributing too.

Make a pledge to get involved with one of the community-provided sites. I can't list them all, but if you find a fan-based item useful... ask if there's any way you can be useful back.

While they're "fan" projects and not official, I'd say the game would be woefully incomplete without their work. When Red Tomax's first solid Hero Designer arrived, the game truly became interesting to me since I could finally quantify progress and not end up with having to rely on the more or less random nature of the in-game information.

Been tempted to supply guides to the various high-level TFs (mainly because the guides that used to be included in the STF/LRSF entries made me want to grind my teeth when I read them--and finding the guides on the forums here can be an annoyance) but other than some minor misinformation, the new "Editor's Notes" are more or less satisfactory.

If people want to join in on community sites, one that I think needs love is the Ouroboros Portal Wiki. If you're at all familiar with wiki editing, it's pretty easy to just start making pages for your characters there.

Proud member of Everyday Heroes (Infinity Heroes), Dream Stalkers (Infinity Villains), Devil Never Cry (Freedom Heroes), Enclave of EVIL (Pinnacle Villains), Phobia (Infinity Villains), Les Enfant Terribles (Freedom Villains), Gravy Train (Virtue Heroes), and more!

Full, detailed character list

MapMaster was the original owner of VidiotMaps and Badge-*****[now Hunter], I believe.

There it is! I'd lost that link... was working on some of my characters info offline then couldn't find it. Thanks!
