2010 Player's Choice MA Awards: Nominations (Over 1 billion in prizes)

It's time once again for the second annual Player's Choice Awards. For those of you who are disappointed with some of the exclusions of the Dev awards, these Architect Awards are from the players and by the players. There are some changes from last year, and hopefully they are all positive ones. As usual, this is the thread to nominate arcs of others, rather than try to promote your own arcs. Choose any categories you want to nominate an arc for, or choose arcs for all of them. Spread the word! Feel free to use the link http://tinyurl.com/2010PlayersChoice to this thread.

Rules for Nominations

• You may nominate an arc for any or all categories.
• The following arcs are prohibited from nominations: your own arcs, Dev Choice, Hall of Fame, any arc published before 10/1/09 (arc ID# below 335000).
• You may, as your nomination, second someone's previous nomination. This will move the arc ahead to the voting round. Nominations beyond a second are unnecessary.
• If you nominate an arc, and it becomes a Dev Choice, that nomination will be removed and you may nominate a different arc in its place.
• An arc will only be allowed in one category. If there is any question as to which category an arc should be placed, it will be decided by the judges.
• This thread will be open for nominations until November 15.
• I reserve the right to adjust these rules should any questions arise.

Categories

This year's categories are as follows:

• Best Arc - Villainous or Rogue
• Best Arc - Heroic or Vigilante
• Best Arc - Comedy
• Best Short Arc: 1 - 3 missions
• Best Lowbie Arc: designed for levels 20 or lower
• Best Original Group Design

Judging

Each category will be narrowed down to five arcs by the following guidelines:

• All arcs with a seconded nomination
• The remaining arcs will be looked at by at least two judges to decide which arcs will move on to the voting round.
• If there are more than five arcs with seconded nominations, those arcs will be narrowed down to five by the judges.
• Judges are not excluded from nominations, but will not be judging a category with their own arc in it.
• This years judges are: Bubbawheat, Wrong Number, Eva Destruction, FredrikSvanberg, MrCaptainMan, ArrowRose, Airhead, and GlaziusF.

Prizes

• A voting thread will be posted no later than November 22nd
• Votes will be collected through December 13th, winners will be announced shortly thereafter.
• Each category winner will receive 200 million inf sent to them through global e-mail
• A costume code of their choice
• And a special forum title.
• They will have 30 days to claim their prizes.

I'm extremely chuffed to have Storming Citadel nominated, but it won the 1-mission category in the March 2009 Player's Choice Awards, so is it still eligible? Aren't previous winners disallowed?

That was kind of a mini-awards, and by March they weren't nearly as popular as the earlier ones, so I didn't see any reason to disallow those previous winners. The 2009 winners and other nominees are pretty much, if not all disallowed due to this year's date published limitation.

I wish I had more time to run AE missions. The Players Choice Awards are really a great example of how CoX players can do something special. Kudo's, yet again, Bubbawheat. And, good luck to all the nominees.

I am shocked to see my arc on that list! I got pretty burned out on creating AE missions and it was really off my radar. Don't me wrong, I still have ideas I want to do sometime (one of which "feels imminent" is some bizarre way...), but since my burn out, I've found I've really been enjoying just playing the game again. Maybe I was creating AE arcs as a way to get away from burn-out playing the game???

Now I feel guilty for not spending more time in the AE playing other people's missions. I'll try and get to that after Halloween's over, as by then my latest toon project (a troller) should be mature enough to handle it.

Thanks for the nomination, maybe that'll get me kick-started back into creating for the AE.

Thanks for doing this great contest again! Totally looking forward to playing everyone's nominations. There is one MA author that immediately springs to my mind as being vastly underappreciated and more than worthy of any and all honors, namely one Witty Librarian of Champion renown. I went ahead and nominated the latest arc from said author as both a heroic and villainous arc because; Pirates! It's also very funny and has a wicked custom group. Do yourself a favor and play Witty Librarian's other arcs if you haven't already and are looking for a real treat.

I'd like to second the nomination of Drakule vs. The Werewolf Bikers From Hell #340316 by @LaserJesus. It's a funny series of arcs that only got better as they went along.

I felt at first I might not be qualified to nominate anything as I don't play AE arcs half as often as I feel I should to consider myself 'knowledgeable' - I don't have the breadth of experience with them all that many others here do. Thinking about it though, I realized this was one series of arcs that I actually bothered to search out one after another and one of the few that is actually still stuck in my mind from back when I had time to play with the MA super team on Triumph.

Seems like reason enough to speak up for it, right?

Added a new rule about allowing an arc to be in only one category which has been applied to "Hack" and Pirate War, we are still discussion the best category for Captain Skylark. If the arc you nominated gets placed in a different category, you may nominate a replacement arc in its stead.

Thanks for all the nominations! I'm... uh... glad they all still apparently work.

Having been gone for the last few months, I unfortunately am not as much up on arcs. I'll probably end up playing through the nominations and seconding some stuff. I kind of want to second Dhahabu Kingdom right now... but Captain Skylark has too good of a title for me not to give it a shot.

I will however second Talos Vice for Best Lowbie arc, because of pastel-clad Hellions. That really should be reason enough right there for it to be guaranteed a spot for voting.

It's awesome to see this competition going again. And thank you ArrowRose for nominating one of mine! I've made sure it works but I should see if changes to MA might have made it possible to improve it further. It's not primarily a comedy, but I hope it might have its moments.

I hope to get back into AE a bit, and Bubba's arc club looks like a good way to do a bit of that on the back of playing other new content.
