Discussion: The 2010 Halloween Event is here!

thanks for changing your post but since I did catch your original wording, I'm not so sure you believe what you are saying either since it was a knee-jerk response initially.
I'm not sure if I should take your "lv5 to lv50" scenario seriously or not...
Even a frightened mouse can fight back when backed into a corner by a viper. |
He said that attack him. I can run Invuln or many other toggles and get attacked just by walking by a level 5. I'm not attacking them, Taunting them or backing them in a corner since they can run and do but will still fire off a shot or take a swing or two.

Okay now GMan, that was just scary how you were able to channel GG. Creepy. Really.
Yea, sucks doesn't it.
"Hey Skybolt! You just saved the world from total annihilation but your still a murderer!" "Hey Electro-Kid, thank you for killing those men before they could **** my daughter, but you still a murderer!" "Hey Batman, you just killed Two Face before he could murder thousands of people, but your still a MURDERER!" It's all about perspective. |
And I agree with another poster that if the Devs do cave in and change the name of 'Malleus', where does it stop?
I then would like to see 'Golden Rollers' name changed because it obviously alludes to drug paraphernalia, which against the EULA.
As for the game lore, Going Rogue arcs has your character killing NPCs, or have murdered NPCs in the arcs themselves, so the whole "No one is getting killed, they are being arrested." argument is pretty much out the window.

Oh yes, you obviously know me perfectly. Well . . . except that you are wrong again. Enemies that are too much lower do not attack you unless provoked in some way. I simply don't provoke them because I know they can't fight back. It is this same reason that I dislike "kill all" missions and why I normally try to stealth as many missions as I can at higher levels. Most of the enemies just have no chance and so I try to skip them. That doesn't stop me from killing what I have to in order to complete my mission though.
Hey, you said that attack you. Why backpedaling?
It's ok. I understand you now. |
Well it was fun playing with you, but that was your third strike and now you are out. Good Day.
Except, unless your character is running toggles that aggro, they will ignore your character if they con grey to you.

I love your ability to rationalize your actions. I think your pysche would make for a great Punisher-type book.

twisting a comment to fit your argument doesn't make it right

Sorry, but after seeing your original comment, my perception is you didn't care about the argument. If I was wrong in that assumption then I apologize.

Edit: nvm. duh.
No twisting. Just going by his exact wording. It's fine if you agree but like every comment here, it is your own perception that colors what you see and don't see.
Now there you might be right. I do have a strange sense of honor. Killing things that can't fight back is wrong, killing things unnecessarily is wrong, and killing things that are "Your Equal" but vastly inferior is wrong too. Which is part of the reason I do not like MALing or EXing down. By the same token though, if killing is necessary to complete my mission, then so be it. Let the killing begin.

Well, they already caved in back when they changed Bastion to Citadel to appease the Wiccans.

Not that they should continue the trend, but there's already a crack in that dam.

Is there seriously one single person in this game running a damage aura, as a level 50 in Atlas, who bothers beating down a level 5 Hellion?...? Is that worth anyone's time? I know it isn't worth MY time.

Now it is true that my level 50 damage aura will kill a level 5 Hellion in a matter of about 3 seconds, with no further effort on my part. But that is his bad luck; attacking people who are extremely stronger than one often results in poor outcomes.
Quote:
You're right, they don't attack. I can take any of my 50's through anything but Grandville or Peregrine Island on Walk, and not worry about any of the local foes attacking my character.
Uhh, no they do not. Yes, eventually they do run but many times they still attack you.

Except the killing is in your own mind. The official story is arresting. Sorry, it's not your game to dictate the rules. You can RP all you want and there is nothing wrong with that if it makes the game more fun for you. I'm just surprised(and entertained) that it went this far when i was actually trying to help your initial argument with GG. No killing, no argument on witches badge.

Instead, I feel like I ran into the male version of GG. That is something I was not prepared for and would not have posted had I known that.
Finally got a Halloween tip mission drop last night, great fun!
Cool maps, it was fun dukeing it out with some Praetorian enemies with my fire tank, and bashing CoT is always a good time. It had a nice TF/story arc feel going even though it was just one mission.
The reward structure was cool too, it made me want to run it again.

Now see, there is no reason to get insulting. I mean really calling me a RPer AND comparing me to GG? Ok, I don't really care about the RP comment (though I don't actually RP) but the comparison to GG was uncalled for.

Oh and someone pointed out that Praetorian missions include killing. I will admit that I missed that, but it only adds to my argument. Though I am not sure how they can and not loose the "Teen" rating for killing other people. It really is a lot different than killing an Ogre or a Bantha after all. The "symbolism" of killing a human is often what pushes games into the "Mature" rating.

look up DC Comics' The Boys, that was the name I was trying to remember.
Manticore comes to mind. As does whoever it was that created the vigilante squad known as Longbow. Not to mention several of the Spuer Powered "Higher Ups" in Longbow itself. At least these are stated in the "Lore" of the game as such.

I agree. If you want all the badges though, you have to run it five times and pick a different badge each time. You probably already figured that out, but I am putting it in here since I ran with two kids last night, for about an hour and a half, that kept choosing the same badge reward.

I've enjoyed that Halloween Tip mission quite a few times on several characters.

I'm really not understanding why it is that the Malleus Mundi is an issue at this stage of the game.
It's only been referred to in the game since Issue 7.

If it was an issue, it should have been raised YEARS ago

Actually, the argument was over GG wanting the name of the Malleus badge for killing witches in the Halloween Event changed because she feels it is a reference to the "Malleus Maleficarum" (which it probably is). A book written for the Church in the Middle Ages used for identifying, prosecuting, and killing "Witches". It really is a rather silly argument overall, but go back a few pages and read it for yourself. You might just get a kick out of it.
